City Template Explination

Hello playgrounders,

Couple of questions. I've been searching through splat books to try to find a place where they explain what each section of a City description means. There are a few things I am not clear about, but I can't seem to find an explanation on what it all means.

I am mostly working on writing up my own cities for the setting I generally run in. I was originally using the City write ups from FR: Shinning south as that is the only physical book I had available.

So is there any where that spells out what the city write-ups(More specifically the part that talks about population,gold,etc) actually mean?

Also does pathfinder have this and if so where can I find it?

The information is in the 3.5 DMG, page 137. Unfortunately it isn't part of the open game license, so we can't post about it directly.

Thurbane does have a random town generator in his signature (direct link here (http://www.gamegroup.org/gameaids/randomville.php)); you might try that out to see if it gives you the information you need.

For pathfinder, this (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/mastery/settlements.html)might help.

Ill have to check when I get home I remember a few of the items in the Descriptions not matching up to the DMG perfectly.
