This is in the item description (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#bagofHolding).

"If a bag of holding is turned inside out, its contents spill out, unharmed, but the bag must be put right before it can be used again."

EDIT: Also, the word is "apocalyptic".

It turns into a sphere of annihilation.

Ed: I meant anhighalation, apparently.

Haven't ever been involved in this discussion, so I'm just going to do some open thinking here.

Basically, a bag of holding has larger dimensions inside than out, correct? So then, by inverting it, you're pushing a smaller space into a larger space, and pushing a larger space into normal space. No problem with either of those actions. So then, hypothetically, it could be argued that it sort of just spews its contents out, and then looks a little strange before finally turning into what looks like a gigantic inverted bag with a tiny little mouth.

And to re-invert it, you'd need to cram all that material back into the bag's mouth.

I like the latter awnser, though RAW cannot be ignored

In addition to the contents of the bag, a sphere of annihilation, rod of cancellation and portable hole fall out on top of each other.

RAW was meant to be ignored for sake of making everything not-crazy and rules-lawyery.

BUT! When discussing rules in online forums we only have RAW as a common base, so we must work within those confines.

You immediately invoke Rule 0 and find out how your DM's brain ticks

It uncovers everything that was in the bag. It can't get more apocalyptic than that!

i thought it would be more apoctoliptic.

It makes the owner scream at you because it'll take so log to put all the stuff back in. How is that not apoplectic enough?

Yeahhh bad pun, and bad spelling is not a crime.

all the crap inside the bag would poor out. Try turning a bag of holding full of marbles inside out. It's fun.

Obviously you'd get a bag that's waaaaaaay smaller on the inside than it looks on the outside. :smalltongue:

Would be hilarous to give an inverted bag of holding to adventurers as loot and see if they will figure out what they got...
Even better if they throw it away thinking that it's useless.:smallbiggrin:
