I've been waiting to do this for a while. Hope everyone enjoys the thread. :smalltongue:

The Previous Random Banter can be found here:
Mercenary Pen's Meticulously Planned Machine of Prose Random Banter #182 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255754)

The Not-So-Random Rules of Random Banter:
1. Spam. For the purposes of RB, one word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.

2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".

3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something that is off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.

4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.

5. Please don't post single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."

6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."

7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.

8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.

9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.

10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.

11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.

12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.

13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.

14. Once you have made a Random Banter thread, you must wait 50 threads before making another one.

15. If you can avoid dibs calling on making the next thread, that will avoid people needing to wait if the thread hits 50 pages while the dibs-caller is asleep.

A brand of over-the-counter nighttime cold medicine. It has trace amount of alcohol, but now that I think about it, it was probably the other ingredients that made me feel funny.

Coidzor

Essentially cough syrup and so, like cough syrup and its potential for abuse, a high dosage or sensitivity to the ingredients can cause a reaction other than an alleviation of cold and flu symptoms.

Nyquil is also supposed to make you drowsy so you just sleep through it/sleep it off, though on some people I believe it has the opposite effect, sort of like how benadryll will either make some people sleepy or some people pep up but rarely will they not have any reaction to it along that axis.

Champagne is a place in France. Officially, no one is supposed to call sparkling white wine champagne unless it comes from that place in France (at least where they can enforce it), but guess what? Nobody cares. For all intents and purposes, they are one and the same.

Rawhide is correct. Nobody cares except for wine makers in Champagne and the village of Champagne in Switzerland.
The name is protected by the 1891 Treaty of Madrid and was reaffirmed by the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. As the United States was not signatory to the Treaty of Versailles, they were allowed to continue using the term until 2006 when a court ruling decreed that only wine producers who had approval prior to 2006 could continue doing so and that no new approvals would be given out.
But as I said... Only wine producers actually care. Everyone else just wants their imitation champagne to be sparkling despite where it was made.

Wrong. The best alcohol is good tequila. Followed closely by dark rum. But still followed.

I recommend Cuban rum. That has nothing at all to do with me being Cuban. Nope. :smalltongue:

Bitter? Not flavourful? What champagne have you been drinking?

Eh, those aren't the right words. It's not really bitter so much as...the flavor that stands out to me is...I suppose I'd call it slightly metallic, and that's the first word that came to mind to describe it. I mean, it's not really a sweet taste, and definitely not savory, salty, or sour, so... :smalltongue:

And it's definitely not bland, but my experiences with champagne have made me feel the flavor was best described as...light or subtle. It's late, language fails me. :smalltongue:

EDIT: Also, I was not recommending tequila to Zodi because I was trying to get her drunk, I was doing so because it's my favorite alcoholic...thingy. And yet I know so few of you will believe me. I really don't deserve this Lothario reputation I've somehow developed, I swear. >.<

Well, wine buffs care. Champagne is often, though by no means always, of a higher quality than other sparkling wine. If it's produced just outside the region using the same method then it'll probably be pretty much the same, but it might equally just be some ghastly sparkling plonk in a bottle, from any old grape or terroir. There is a kind of minimum quality associated with the Champagne label, which is what gives it its cachet.

I may not like champagne but it's in the same category as a cornish pasty, Melton Mowbray pork pie or stilton. That's a specific thing, with a certain level of quality guaranteed.

Your pun may have been intended, but it was downright terrible. Worthy of execution if I do say so myself.

True, I do admit that there would be a certain quality associated in order for them to have the right to deny the name to every other country on the planet by international treaty...
But still, most people don't care. They want food and drink made to a high quality that is what it says it is, preferably without added salt.

Anyway, I'm going to bed because it's almost eleven here in Australia. Good night everyone!

Yes: also, wine-growing is an eminently fickle undertaking; small differences in the climates [number of sunlight hours, rainfall, temperature of days and nights during ripening] and soils of wine-growing regions makes a huge difference in the character of the wine. Champagne has a region uniquely suited for growing the grapes for champagne. France -- given its proximities to two seas, its funky topography, and Europe's weird variety of soil types -- has a lot of microclimates.

The regional right to use the appellation also carries with it a number of rather strict standards of production, to which imitators are not bound: so yes, indeed, bona fide Champagne is far far less likely to be ghastly sparkling plonk [love that phrase].

To say that nobody cares is foolish.

Totally understandable. You americans and your one dollar bills. OUR vending machines are powered by COINS.

Incidently, this means the lowest you can, ahem, tip, is 5 bucks.

Does this mean you have no bills lower than a 5? Strange. I like it thought. I often wish the US used more coins. They're just so fun.

That reminds me - Once, I saw a vending machine that took 1s, 2s, and 5s. Yes, it took 2s.

It also gave change in dollar coins.

What.

There's an ice cream stand in my area that gives change only in half-dollar coins and two dollar bills.

In the UK there's no note lower than a fiver, which is about $8(US). We used to have pound notes, but they were phased out long ago. We have an extensive range of coins below that value, though.

As far as I know, no. Euros are pretty great though. Uhm, we have 1,2,5,10,20 and 50 cent pieces and then pieces of 1 and 2 euros. The best part is that each country has a whole array of own versions of the coins, there's quite a few people trying collect all the different versions and there's already a ton of them.

At first, it seemed like you were saying they were betting that you wouldn't preorder a Wii U, but that makes no sense. No, I manage to make enough people bet that I couldn't play a particularly (in)famous Korean song, which me being myself seemed extremely unlikely. The result was enough funds for me to reach my savings goal. Well, that bet and one relating to hair dying.

There are a few places that will take Euros, but they are very much the exception. Most places only accept sterling.

You can't parody a parody, which is what Gangnam Style is, so I haven't even bothered watching "parodies" of it.

The meme machine is a harsh mistress. You excuses aren't that poor though, I can understand not liking something because it's popular. I think that's fundamentally stupid, but I don't have any right to say your point is invalid (except in jest).

Hmm, I disagree. It is possible for things to become a bit overly cannibalistic, but parodying parody is certainly possible.

The meme machine is a harsh mistress. You excuses aren't that poor though, I can understand not liking something because it's popular. I think that's fundamentally stupid, but I don't have any right to say your point is invalid (except in jest).
Something's popularity should be largely irrelevant to how much one likes it. However, things which are more popular will have a greater exposure, which reduces the time before you get sick of it. It also has a wider fanbase, which means it's less judiciously distributed and modified. Things which are less popular are more likely to remain unspoiled. They're also more likely to attract exclusively people who share your opinion on <whatever it is>.

There's the similar "exclusivity effect", too. Take classical music, for instance. Pretty much everyone is in agreement that Mozart and Beethoven are awesome. However, they're so awesome that their names have transcended their genre and are known universally. So if you ask someone who really knows what they're talking about who their favourite composer is, they'll almost never name either of those two, because there'd be nothing in that answer to give you an insight into their expertise.

At least M&B, though, are dead, so their material can't change. Those things which are still in production can, and unless they're particularly stubborn it's difficult to resist the call of many fans. So things which become popular tend to move towards the middle ground and lose a lot of what made them good in the first place. That's in addition to any quality the thing loses in having been around for a long time in the first place. Quite often a thing needs to have been around for some time and is already at its peak of quality when it becomes popular. Then the popular drive towards mediocrity becomes confused with an inevitable decline in quality anyway.

So, I think there is valid reason for disliking something "because it's popular", even if it's slightly more complex than it first appears.

LaZodiac

Exactly, which is why I say I can't just dismiss his reasoning. Not only is everyone entitled to their own opinion, they may have a really good reason for their opinion.

Try installing flux (http://stereopsis.com/flux/) on your computer. It dims the light and changes the color temperature when night falls. I mostly focus on the parts that don't fly past that fast, but yeah. The constantly changing landscape combined with the small sphere of reference (especially at night) is probably what makes it for me.

Also, I remembered some more. We dug up a few potatoes mum had planted in the garden, and two were red as rubies. Very pretty and very tasty. Then mum picked blackcurrant and cooked cordial (or whatever I should call a drink that's basically cooked fruit/berry juice and sugar. We call it "saft" in Swedish) from it. Deepest red and very very tasty!

Trust me, computers were the slightest of my problems up there. The room lacked enough curtains to keep out the morning light, which in turn woke me up all to early and prevented me from going back to sleep, so I had to craft makeshift cardboard curtains to block the windows with. And the whole house is quite old and poorly insulated, and the blanket was too thin, so I had to get myself a second blanket to keep myself warm. What still messed up my sleep, however, was the distinct lack of a certain pink toy hippo going by the (quite unimaginative) name Flodhäst.

Entirely coincidential, actually (I should have said "loose ends", but I confused it with the Swedish expression). I can't even bother myself with reading the last few pages of the last thread. By tailor you refer to the man who outfits you, or a man who makes wines specifically brewed for thou?
Do not worry on promptness, the banter has seen longer back quoted replies. I also hope the reason for the inhospitality for sitting and writing is not based on negative circumstances but fast paced series of energy draining joyful events.
I feel honoured that my half-developed spiel on composing is worthy of a through reply.

Indeed, by tailor I mean the man who makes my clothes. I stopped by on Saturday to pick something up just as he was closing, and he invited me to the back for a drink. We got to talking for a while, and he showed me his brewing equipment and gave me a bottle.

This weekend has been just wonderful. Yes -- a fast-paced series of energy-draining joyful events. I couldn't have said it better myself. But indeed, your words particularly on interpretation of the old masters as more than an echo were really helpful, and changed my thinking. I still would like to compose at some point, but I feel less useless about only ever wanting to play Bach now.

There is more to say than that, however

P.S. The Mayans built wonderful pyramids in Mexico. (http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/prehistory/latinamerica/topics/pyramids.html)

What's the current stance on that one theory about them being Egyptians that sailed over here before the Egyptians had switched to smooth sided pyramids? Absolute bollocks. That's the theories of people trying to show all native americans to be useless and uncivilized. They're dated to what, the 1000 AD at the very latest? I think some of the Mississippi cultures may be from a little before.

Have you met the internet? Shipping is just the practice of pretending two people either are in a relationship or want to be in one, regardless of all evidence to the contrary. It's mostly done with fictional characters, but IRL shipping is more fun because you get the reactions of those being shipped.

EDIT:Ninja'd with a simpler explanation. I really need to be less wordy. Seriously, my pleonasms are becoming increasingly redundant.

I think we can find people descended from the Mayans. Now finding people actually descended from the Egyptians of Antiquity, I don't recall how tricky that is, but I imagine it's not a huge obstacle, considering that apparently despite the best efforts of the Angles and Saxons and Jutes and Danes and Swedes and Norwegians and Scottia, most ethnic-English are still predominantly Brythonic Celt, IIRC.

So I'm pretty sure that we could actually check to a certain extent. Indeed, if I could find a source to back it up, I'd actually go so far as to swear that they'd already checked.

As it is... I sincerely doubt it.

Complete nonsense. The only reason they both used pyramids is because it's the easiest way to build a tall building.
With enough blocks, you can build anything to any height using that technique.

And on the Mayans, they still exist. There's a couple million of them I think...

There is more to say than that, however
Never feel bad for playing Bach because everything IS Bach, there is no escape, every single piece in a minor key comes from his fuges, major keyed come either from his other compositions or his contemporaries. No matter what, a Bach expert will point you to Bach, even in modern pop, metal or jazz, everything is Bach. As my teacher used to say, "the only music I've ever heard that wasn't Bach was Cage's 4'33'' and I think I heard snippets of Bach in it at times". Everyone plays Bach, just a different one in a different way in a different time.

In the mean time, do you have any recommended listening for the Toho video game you mentioned? That I do have.

The game music is in midi, so I'm linking to both the originals as arrangements, the only original where the arrangement is heavily recommended over the original (and perhaps exclusively so) is the last one due to being boss music and somewhat aggressive in its primal form.

Am I the only person who thinks a parody isn't actually a parody unless they actually change the lyrics, but keep the tune/beat? :smallconfused:

Yes, you are. The use of the word parody essentially boils down to mean a "humorous, satirical, or burlesque imitation" of the original. The padory happens there in the video, even though the music is not altered.

Another way to parody it, would be to leave the video unaltered, and change the song around, a la the "literal music videos".

The Greek temples were mostly destroyed by religious strife. A true testament to their strength is that the ruins of them still stand despite a thousand years of mistreatment, abandonment and earthquakes.

And I'll concede the point on the Cathedrals. But they were hardly built to be permanent static structures. However, a lot of them weren't done very well in the first place. But still, those that were built properly need a minimum of maintenance.

They were rather simple though, roof over excessively thick columns placed all around. And the ruins are prove of materials being resistant in most cases, not necessarily design, at least for the Greeks.

Oh no doubt, the materials are superior.
But so was the construction. The Parthenon in Athens is a particularly fine example consisting of stones fitted so close together that cracks run across the divide as if they were one. Furthermore, the basic design may be simple, yes.
But that's an optical illusion.
The Greeks were primarily concerned not with achieving perfection in construction but achieving what looked perfect, so they subtly altered their structures. The floor of the Parthenon is curved upwards to prevent the illusion that it sags. The columns bulge outwards with a curve with a radius of over a mile in order to prevent the appearance that they narrow towards the middle. Each part of each column is unique.
And they did all of us with a workforce that used three different systems of measurement and were mostly illiterate.

It's kind of the same with the medieval cathedrals, but a lot of them were rushed and/or too ambitious so they can't make the same claim.

A workforce directed by someone who did knew what he was doing. In regards to workforce you don't really need the guys working to know anything but placing stuff on its place, only the one directing and the one or another supervising.

But I'll concede that the Parthenon wasn't just luck and massive columns since some of the design elements do work as seismic resistant and the optical aspect is rather impressive for the time.

Actually, you need the stone masons to know what they're doing. Otherwise the supervisors going to have to do it all in order to get it right.
However, most of the labourers were unskilled, but there were more than enough skilled stone masons and carpenters on sight. Not to mention the artists and sculptors who did all the finishing touches.

The thing is the stone mason just needs to know how it works, not why, so he doesn't need to be literate, just experienced.

Never said they were literate. Just skilled. And their skill is a lot greater than simply placing things in place.
And the architects don't need to know why it works either. Just that it does and always has. It is amazing the accomplishments that can be made without knowing the secrets of the Universe.

Well. According to my girl friends. "I am so confident in my straightness that I come off as gay." I'm still not quite sure how that works myself, but I guess sometimes I'm just more confident. :smalltongue:

How does that work? :smallconfused:

I'm as gay as they come. Though if you talked to me through any means, you wouldn't be able to spot it. Apparently I sound really straight and manly. Hmm, maybe this height (6ft 2") gives me one of those booming deep voices? :smalltongue:

And pfft, why hasn't anyone mentioned LaLaSheep?!

I wasn't going to bother explaining this...
It means that AtlanteanTroll feels no need to continually prove that he is straight. Thus, he's straight and can be in the same room as a girl without determining whether or not they're suitable for marriage. As we say in the old speech and you know what I actually mean.

You know, before I left home, my grandmother gave me a little silver bullet, and said, "Son, wear this bullet always in rememberence of me," and I did. Then, close to two months later, I was walking down High Street when a beserk evangelist flung a Bible from the top of a nearby building. That Bible fell 20 stories and struck me in the chest, and friends, I have to tell you, if it weren't for that bullet, the Bible would have killed me on the spot.

Actually, it's not. I see I'll have to explain this one. So my church occasionally has a pancake breakfast/Bible study, and immediately afterwards one of my friends wanted to go BASE jumping. So I went with him to see him do it, but then I had to try and talk him out of it because the building he was going to try to BASE jump off wasn't tall enough for the parachute to slow him down to the point where he wouldn't hurt himself. I still had my Bible with me when I gestured at the ground, and it slipped out of my hands. It didn't land on anyone, though. (and I realize as I say this that if I hadn't been there, I wouldn't believe this story at all).

My fifty-six year old aunt has bought herself a laptop. Rather, I bought it, then she bought it off me.
I did the basic set up a few hours ago, connected her to our internet, set her up an e-mail address - she didn't know what one was! I had to come up with an analogy to explain all the bits of an email address! - and then proceeded to:
uninstall her McAfee and install several different anti-virus/malware things and show her the basics of them
install Firefox ("because I've not used ie in years, so it's easier for me to show you how to use the internet with Firefox.")
install some add-ons
install Google toolbar because I have a visceral hatred for Bing
showed her this forum to demonstrate how most sites have a lon in/log out procedure
semi-organised her desktop and
shown her where DVDs go

Some time this week I have to:
go to hers and set up her internet because she's getting a new deal, show her how to do wireless, how to work the box, how to diagnose/fix internet connectivity problems
show her how to use basic software (and download OpenOffice)
walk her through setting up an amazon account

Anything else important I should teach her about laptops and the internet in general?

That's quite interesting. On the other hand I've only known one tailor and he is considerably older than me, having tailored for my mother before and probably my grandfather as well, so I wouldn't know about tailor expected behaviours.

Does he work for you too? What kind of suits do you wear?

My own tailor is about 70, and he's very friendly. I only started going to him last summer but we get along splendidly. I think on Saturday, being an unseasonably gorgeous weekend, I caught him at just the right time and mood to be invited in.

That I do have.

The game music is in midi, so I'm linking to both the originals as arrangements, the only original where the arrangement is heavily recommended over the original (and perhaps exclusively so) is the last one due to being boss music and somewhat aggressive in its primal form.

I don't have a fixed style of wear for suits, from tuxedo to overcoats, with vests and waistcoats in between and less formal jackets on the way.

I have two bespoken, one is a three piece which includes a fantastic waistcoat which was made for opera going, including an inner holder designed to fit Galileans and the pants having a holster of sorts on which can be reversed outside the pants for holding a cane. The other being a two piece single breasted which is by far my favourite, made to allow both free arm mobility and full hand permanent exposure, while the unspoken objective for it was piano playing comfortably it works fantastically for everything by virtue of feeling like not being there. The first one is black with a dark grey waistcoat, the second one is a dark blue. The only other suit piece of note that I have apart from routine suits is my black winter overcoat which I very fondly love by virtue of being fantastical for everything, warm in winter but not sweat inducing during autumn. In terms of shirt I favour both white and burgundy, which combine fantastically with black and dark blue.

It's nothing to get that worried about, especially if you don't handle grease or concrete dust or whatever regularly, it's just something you want to avoid if at all possible. The best way to avoid it is to use gloves when handling anything dodgy - obviously this isn't always possible if gloves aren't available or the items in question are fiddly - which is how I learned my lesson - in which case your best bet is just to clean your hands thoroughly at the earliest opportunity. And if you notice any change in the condition of your skin, consult a doctor.

I can play Tocatta and Fuge in d for the piano, and I've always wanted to play an organ [never have. :smallfrown:].I've played a pipe's organ a very reduced number of times, mostly at churches, the two most memorables for me where once officially so during mass and once while hidden (as hidden as a person playing a massive building sized instruments that makes the earth tremble under its notes can be). In terms of regular organs I've had more luck; there even used to be an organ shop nearby which I'd visit with relative frequency until it went out of business justifiably due to the excessive pricing.

The organ is not that different from the piano except for the number of pedals it has and the fact that there is no such thing as a minor mistake; once you get the hang that your roots are in the pedals, the harmony without root is in the left and the melody in the right, it all is smooth sailing. If you ever felt you needed more sound while playing and wanted some extra hands, the organ is glorious.

Nowadays I have to make due with a setting of a fake pedal arrangement linked to a synth bank to simulate the bass pedals, and a UltraNova mounted on top of a Clavinova

Hello!
I just finished an Anthropology paper, and I'm actually feeling fairly good about how I did. I'm wondering the Playground's opinions. Please, don't put any commentary that says "put this in", or it won't be my own work if I do, but suggestions (as to something being unclear or overexplained) and commentary are what I'm looking for. It's not finished yet, due to leaving my notes at school, but I want to see if what I feel is very good is actually very good.
:
The question of what defines humanity is one pondered by anthropologists and science fiction authors alike. Definitions are varied, but tend to focus mostly on a combination of sapience, sentience, and body structure (though sci-fi authors may leave out body structure and say they’re defining “person” instead). I feel that humanness is best defined by the combination of two things: limbs capable of fine manipulation of objects and a brain capable of realizing just how much one can do with that ability.* In other words, I feel that the border between “sub-human hominid” and “human” was crossed at the point when those hominids realized that they could do something to the world.

The first part of this prerequisite developed long before the second. Hands with dexterous fingers developed far back in our evolutionary line, far enough that most apes have them as well, and those apes often also have feet with toes of equivalent function. Even if one restricts the qualification to only those with opposable thumbs (for the pincer-grip is undeniably and important part of much fine dexterity), the ability existed prior to Homo sapiens, in the species <SPECIES NAME>, all the way back in around <YEAR> BCE.

Thus, the more critical qualifier is the requirement that the species have sufficient mental capacity to realize that changing things that were not themselves or food was possible. Though mental epiphanies are not well-preserved in any fossil record, there are several things that, at the very least, may be taken as indicators. Firstly, any species which makes tools must intrinsically understand this. Note that this is not simply using tools – a chimp using a twig to dig for bugs in a rotting log would not count. To qualify, a species must make tools – if the aforementioned chimp had chipped a branch with a rock until it was something distinctly not a random branch picked off of the ground, they would qualify, though similar behaviors would have to be widespread through a species to qualify chimps for this. Secondly, if a species which would be physically and environmentally capable of making tools has a brain equal to or greater than the minimum brain size of any species known to make tools, it would not be too unreasonable to posit that they may have made tools which were not preserved for some reason – whether because the tools were wooden, because they were used until they were no longer usable (at which point most primitive tools would look the same as any other heavily worn but non-carved rock), or for some other reason.

*Of course, this applies to the species as a whole, and thus does not exclude disabled individuals as long as those individuals retain the concept of acting on the world instead of merely using what is found.

That sort of grease is usually bad news. Make sure you clean your hands thoroughly and, yes, applying moisturiser is a good idea. I learned my lesson three years or so ago when it comes to that sort of thing. You don't want to get dermatitis.

Yeah, as I said, lots of soap went into the cleaning process. And brushes. I'm not keen on leaving dirt on my hands if I can help it, as it might in turn leave spots on surfaces I wish to keep tidy.

Aaagh stop making me paranoid about my friends.

*plugs ears* Lalalala I'm not listening lalalala *is quite away how useless it is to plug your ears in a visual medium based forum*

Nothing to worry about, there's almost no grease left on my hands and the trace amounts that still remain hidden away in the deeper wrinkles will most certainly go away with a day or two's wear.

By the by, I find almond oil to be the most effective moisturizer [especially with a little rose essence]. Massage it in and wipe away the excess with a cloth, and your hands will be as smooth and white as lilies all day.

Well, we actually lack anything other than common skin cream here at home, but that works well enough for me. Liberal application, a thorough massage and then some soap to wash away the excess. Not especially refined, but it's quick and does its work...

Ahh, sometimes I'd just love to follow your every word of advice. Actually, I'd probably love to just follow you around for a day or two and let you guide me to how to enhance my quality of life. After all, I've always seen your style as somewhat opulent, but in a classy and refined and, not to forget, tasteful sort of way. You seem to have a good hang on the more luxurious ways of living, and even though I usually prefer the simple over the extravagant, I may sometimes dream of just a few days of living the other life.

I arrived home to find a bouncing puppy in the common room getting lots of love. Runaway, probably. Big dog. Doberman mix? Very thin, and no collar, but VERY well groomed, most gorgeous shiny coat EVER. We're keeping him for at least tonight, hopefully more? We call him Henry.

He's soooooo friendly. We're so good at this, within like an hour of him showing up at our door, we got him water, a bone, dog food... Not sure exactly where he's sleeping tonight, but I'm sure we'll find a place.

But there's nothing so happy-making as walking up the stairs after a long day to the front door, and pass someone who says "Oh there's a puppy in Gardner now. Common room. Go"

Well, Zodi, rice is the sort of thing you're supposed to get in a huge sack every few weeks to months depending upon the size of the sack and frequency of rice consumption. It's also so easy to cook that SMBC Theater can teach you how to do it in their spinoff Hand 2 Mouth: When All You Can Afford Is The Internet. You should go watch them. All of them. And then put a dent in SMBC Theater if you haven't already.

Also you're semi-welcome. :smallwink:
