I want to make the most of an intelligent companion- are there any easy ways to get my companion spells and stuff?

Going the bruiser route would be pretty easy, just throw polymorph on it and a handful of awesome buffs. However, this druid's going the summoning route, so there should already be a battlefield drowning in bruisers.

Recommendations? I've got 5th level wizard & 5th level druid spells.

Well, you'll want to pick up the feat from the Dragon Compendium (IIRC) called enspell familiar that lets you share spells up to 1 mile. This Enworld thread seems relevant. (http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-legacy-discussion/177881-ways-improve-familiar.html)

Mental Pinnacle from Expanded Psionics and Imbue Familiar with Spell Ability from SpC are the first things to come to mind.
