Flag of Inside, flown over all Remnant and Government Installations

Current Events: Human supremacist sentiment is growing in Inside, centered at the Human-Only restaurant known as the Sitar's Strings. The public stance of the group is for segregation of races, while decrying species based violence, but that violence continues to grow.

The title is a misnomer, of course. No doubt the moniker of this place was settled on after a brief conversation that started with, 'Wouldn't it be funny if...?'. But now the name has stuck.

But what is this place, you ask?

Inside is everything within the City Walls. As opposed to Outside, which is everything without. This strange, whimsical city seems to be the center of a planar Nexus, a crossing point between all possible worlds. One can find just about anything in this wondrous place, dreams that defy imagination and terrors that freeze the soul. People and whole places are regularly drawn into the Nexus, added to the chaotic melting pot of all possible realities.

And more than a few realities that aren't possible.

The city is surrounded by defensive walls, with an artificially and accidentally created moat outside the walls, a moat that has been diverted into a river-channel for one many bodies of water flowing through Inside. A gap in the walls and a bridge allow for entrance into the city proper, the main gate opening up to welcome newcomers Inside.

Welcome, traveler, to the City of Inside. The only boundaries you find within are the bounds of your own imagination.

Rules, Zones, Streets, and Locations

Rules

1:Please Spoiler any Fanservice in this thread! It is accepted that there will of course be some, and that romance and curtains happen. However, please be courteous to others and spoiler any scene that goes on for a little while, and if it reaches the point, curtain. This is so you can stay within forum rules, as well as letting those uninterested in the scene, pass by. Thank you.

2:Godmodding is not permissible! As stated in the rules in the FFRP Central Thread, (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166066), godmodding is generally not allowed without permission. If you're shaky on what might be, and what might not be godmodding, please follow the above link.

3:The DOOM-Shield. Inside is currently equipped with a techno-magic shield that mitigates "global" effects to a survivable level. This is to prevent anyone from simply killing all the NPCs, or affecting the entire city. For example, a plot that envelops the entire city in sub-arctic temperatures, will find that the cold isn't as bad as it should be, and survivable.

4:Remnant. Please remember when doing any plots or large events, that even though it has it's own thread, Remnant (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211872), the Inside Police Force and Army, is located in Inside, and may respond to events, or may be asked to respond to them. More information on them will be provided later.

4:All Inside-Wide/Nexus-Wide plots need to be brought up in OOC first! We all want to have the entire city be cast into a frozen wasteland from time to time, but such things need to be brought up in OOC first, to allow players plenty of warning, and so people don't feel like anything is being forced upon them that they don't want to RP.

5:Inside is not Space! Anything involving massive spaceships, meteors, satellites, Lasers From Space, and the like, do not belong in this thread. Few PCs have the ability to fight off an orbital bombardment, so it is considered unfair to be able to call down such things inside Inside. It can be assumed that the Doom Shield prevents such things from occurring. The place for these sorts of things should be in Outside, or another thread all together.

Zones, Streets, and Locations

Please PM Rebonack to have a new location placed in this registry.

Zones:

In the Zone(s): The City of Inside is separated into three socioeconomic zones color-coded for your convenience.

The Blue Zone is upper-class, well to do portions of Inside.

The Grey Zone is the portion of the City that is middle-class. It also includes many commercial and industrial portions of the City.

The Red Zone is the of the City that is degenerate, destitute, or downright dangerous. Sometimes all of the above.

Streets:

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Generic Street? The City of Inside also has a number of Streets. The Streets aren't a street in the literal sense, but rather portions of the City with a particular theme. While one can find anything anywhere in the City there are none the less areas were certain settings predominate.

If you have an idea for a Street feel free to suggest it in the OOC thread.

Known Streets:

Generic Street: The generically modern setting! Generic Street is perhaps the most plastic of the Streets, displaying a decent mix of all settings, though modern predominates. Generally speaking most locations without a Street name will be found here. The most commonly seen locations here are the Streets and the Slums. Occasionally The Rooftops if someone is feeling daring.

Arkham Street: Spanning 1920s-1940s style sci-fi and horror, Arkham Street is home of such spooky locations as Philip Memorial Library, the haunted Carter House, and Dunwich Park. The more upscale portion of Arkham Street is known as Metropolis Square, a metropolitan area sporting Diesel Punk style robots and rayguns and mad scientists oh my!

Cirrus Street: Cirrus Street is the FUTURE! sci-fi portion of Inside. Most commonly seen are the post-apocalyptic Bombed Out Zone with its never-ending zombie vs Martian vs killbot vs mutant war and the hopeless squalor of the Underhive. In addition to these areas there's also the chrome and glass clad Skyway. Think Jetsons with more foot-paths. Repulser Trams connect the Skyway to other portions of Inside for those not blessed with flying cars.

Market Street: Market Street is the ye olde portion of Inside, complete with bards, fools, open market places, and the occasional damsel in distress. While products of any age can be found in the sprawling street booths everything is done ye olde style-e. If you need a chase scene to crash through a fruit-cart this is the place to do it.

Yellow Dog

At the edge of the city of Inside, a unique street marks the border between the wilderness and the world of men. Two rows of wooden buildings stare at one another from across the sides of a dusty, unpaved street. The dark brown wood is bare, held in place with rough nails, only the occasional brightly painted sign relieving the earth tone monotony. This street is called Yellow Dog, and it is a little mining town right out of the Old West.

Well, not quite right out of the Old West. You see, anything and anyone that has even a little to do with the West comes to Yellow Dog. It doesn't matter what kind of West you're from; a Fantasy West with dragons and demons, a Steampunk West with stompy mechs powered by cloud benching coal furnaces, a Samurai West were a man's sword is as trusted as his six-gun, a post apocalyptic or futuristic West were revolvers come in laser form and the horses are robots; heck, even folks from just the plain old regular West are welcome here, and they don't mind strangers round these parts. This is a place were a gaggle of fur trappers and buffalo hunters haggle with a squid faced merchant about the worth of their haul. This is a street where dwarf and gnome gold miners walk into town, comparing the size of the nuggets they've panned from the rivers as they head towards the saloon. This is a place where you can pass a man dressed like a Union Cavalry Officer talking with a robot cowboy on a steel horse. You can walk down the way and pass a mysterious man who greets you with a "Konnichiwa, pardner.", as his samurai sword rattles lightly against his holstered pistol. Gunslingers, cowpokes, gamblers, bandits, prospectors, pioneers, profiteers, preachers, snake oil salesmen, trappers, hunters, townsfolk, wildmen, and things much weirder all mingle along this dusty lane.

Welcome to Yellow Dog, pilgrim. Enjoy your stay.

Locations:
Azik's Enchantments(Player: Harnel, Grey Zone)

Those in the area will hear a rumbling as the Nexus begins pulling in something larger than just a single person. Reality bends, and the shape of portal opens above a certain street corner. For a sickening moment, nothing happens, but then things start coming out of the portal - all of them are bricks, building up finally to a door and a roof, with tiny windows built in. There's even a large chimney sticking out of the center of this strange, conical building that begins puffing rainbow smoke almost immediately.

A creature steps out the front door, though many wouldn't consider it a creature - He is a warforged, a living golem. Covered in what appears to be adamantine plates, he looks up and down the street, his longcoat catching in the breeze. as it flutters, one can see a multitude of wands, schema, and scrolls all attached to several belts around his waist and upper legs. On his eyes he wears a pair of blue tinted shades, despite his lack of ears, and the metal orbs that serve as his eyes glow green behind these spectacles. He looks up and down the street. He doesn't seem to be particularly disturbed by the change in location, but he does take the time to call out, in a metallic voice:

"Azik's Enchantments is open for business! Come find a potion, a wand, a scroll to fit any need! We have spellbooks for beginners and experts! Weapons of all shapes and sizes, and armor unlike anything you've ever seen! Come find what you're looking for here!"

And then he heads back inside. So much work, so little time. Inside is as strange as outside, with magic trinkets lining the walls on shelves, but all behind the counter, to keep any stupid kid with the idea to steal something from doing so. You can find just about anything magical here, and that which you can't find, Azik the Warforged can make within a more than reasonable timeframe.

Emergency Bunkers

Eight bunker-like structures in a ring-like arrangement at about the midpoint between the walls (or the docks) and the center of the city have been completed.

The interior of each is rather dull, rather befitting a bunker, but there are underground areas beneath the visible bunkers. These are similarly dull and military-styled, but they also act as hospitals.

These are mostly designed with emergencies such as shelling in mind, and are usually closed.

Emergency Clinics
Like the bunkers the clinics are spread through-out the City and are equipped with technology akin to a modern emergency room. Since there's no magical healing available the speed of recovery is going to be noticeably lower than what is available at one of Inside's many temples. However their availability makes them absolutely vital in the application of life-saving care.

Erin's Emporium (Player: The Bushranger, Grey Zone)

Construction Gnomes have been hard at work renovating a small store along one of the various merchantile roads. Well, it was small. Now it's bigger on the inside.

And filled with every sort of weaponry imaginable, from across the multiverse. From blaster carbines to P-90s, surface-to-air missiles to ballistas, zats to nunchucks, they're all here.

Is that a siege crossbow sitting in the corner?

Evolution Industries Headquarters + Factories (Player: Darkcomet, Blue Zone)
The headquarters of the company known as Evolution Electronics and Power is a fairly standard-looking modern-day tower in appearance, not quite reaching the level of skyscraper.

The company owns a large factory nearby, used in production of its MACE units, and potentially other products, should it be desired.

The company also possesses a number of other factories around the city, used for production of weaponry and other military materiel.

Retail outlets for Evolution's products are scattered around the city.

Finders Keepers (Player: Reinholdt)

[Gray Zone]

Sitting right near the edge of the Red Zone, a new shop has opened up. It's a basic looking office, part of a larger building. Out front is a sign,

FINDERS KEEPERS*
We find missing people, kidnapees, deadtime victims and more.

*And no we don't actually keep them. It's just a name.

Inside, is a secretary typing away at a typewriter. She directs customers to wait until their turn, at which point she sends them back to meet the shop owner, one Heinrik Hurtz. He is most clearly not related to any superheroes whatsoever. This is a fact in and of itself, proven clearly by the fact that Heinrik wears glasses.

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq276/Reinholdt9000/Gaia/HeinrikHurtz.png

Hastings and Sons Mortuary (player: Kid Kris, Grey Zone)
Near one of the older parts of the city sits a large and somewhat dour building of brick and mortar, built in the traditional sense, with a metal plaque by the door that reads (predictably enough):

Hastings and Sons
MORTUARY
For the preparation of the dearly departed.
And indeed, should one go in one should find all the trappings of a conventional mortuary, including several large visitation rooms, run by this guy:

http://public5.tektek.org/img/av/1008/d05/2213/715a669.png (http://tektek.org/avatar/38746382)
Though of course, usually without the zombie there.
In recent times however, the true business of the resident Mortician has branched into a more heretical bent, offering certain services to the living impaired (more commonly known as the foul Undead). These start at simple healings and flesh grafts (the flesh occasionally obtained 'legitimately', when a body comes in for cremation and the Mortician gives them an urn full of wood-ash, but usually corpses are obtained through donations from customers or good old fashioned grave-robbing). But services can also range into body part replacement and augmentation for the undead who wishes his creator had seen fight to give him a giant lobster claw or retractable venomous spines, or even full body/flesh reconstruction for the self-conscious lich (or lich in disguise, though making your new flesh look like someone else usually costs extra) or the zombie in his golden years. These customers usually come in through the back door, where there is a plaque listing the full list of services. Though of course some are brazen enough to come through the front door anyway.

((PM if you wish to interact with the Mortician, as Kid Kris may not always check the thread.))

MagMart (Player: Lord Magtok, Blue Zone)
An absurd mash-up of K-Mart, Wall-Mart, Target, and every other vile retail chain, MagMart is staffed by an unswervingly loyal Magbots, lobotomized talking cats that are too brain-dead to know any better, several voodoo spirits, and a pickle jar that everyone insists is a sentient being that only communes with those who truly believe in it.

Here you can find everything from curtains to carpets, macaroni to monkeys on motorcycles, groceries to zombies. The staff is always happy to help (or else), and if you aren't entirely satisfied with your shopping experience, you can pay a small fee to watch the MagMart employee of your choosing get fired out the MagMart complimentary employee morale cannon.

Magnificus Theater (Red Zone)
This large theater is an attempt to bring culture to the city of the Inside. Plays are regularly show here, and if desired other events can be held here.

The walls of the theater are colored with three shades of blue in a wave pattern. Inside the theater are a pair of grand staircases, with the railing colored gold, while the stone of the stairs is white. The stage itself is one of the largest in the Nexus, carefully designed for the greatest enjoyment.

Rules: Please, no violence. If you must have some violent action in a theater, pm me first.

Sable Spire (Blue Zone)
A great, black-colored tower now stands at the highest point of the Skyway. Appearing mostly similar to a modern-day skyscraper, albeit more futuristic, reinforced, and armored. Upon close examination, some parts of the tower appear to conceal compartments of some sort, likely something along the lines of concealed defensive turrets. the top portion of the tower is rather different in appearance.

It appears as a truly massive hatch, similar to what one might see over a missile silo under normal circumstances.

This hatch opens into the landing area of the aerial aircraft carrier Sanctuary, the main asset of the Altaran Irregulars. Said landing area is set to act as an elevator, capable of moving up to the top of the tower or moving back down to conceal whatever is landed (usually the aforementioned carrier) under the heavily armored hatch.

The Spire, constructed by Remnant in an alliance with the Altaran Irregulars, is now a major base for the the latter, who currently act alongside Remnant in protecting the city. Their troops largely use the same equipment as Remnant's, but use the old Imperial black-and-navy color scheme to distinguish themselves.

The Misspelled Cemetary (Grey Zone)
It's the rain that makes for the perfect atmosphere.

Since the party left the well lit cobbles lanes of the Market Streets the sky has opened up upon our intrepid band of adventurers with a vengeance. The wind howls through barren trees as the rain descends in sheets. The heavens are split by a ribbon of lightning and a roar of thunder.

A massive cast iron gate surrounds this place of once hallowed ground. Yes, hallowed once but no longer. The earth appears dead. Rotten. A phosphorescent green fog creeping along the ground. Misshapen fungus and molds clinging to crumbling monuments. Corpses exposed on the surface, half-eaten with decay.

The gate creeks open of its own accord as the party nears.

And above the gate, in rusted iron letters, reads:

The Misspelled Cemetary

Needle and Thread (Blue Zone, Player: Artemis97)
On one side of a wide cobblestoned street is a small shop. The sign hanging over the door depicts a simple spool of thread, pierced by a needle. No words were included, as a courtesy to those who could not read, nor were they needed. It was clear from the merchandise displayed in the two large windows on either side of the door that this was a clothing boutique. The right side displayed the latest in women's fashions, dresses and skirts in unique designs, all detailed by hand with beading and embroidery. The left window showed men's clothing, from a beautifully tailored three piece suit, cut from expensive fabrics, to the very best in adventuring style, rugged and sturdy, clearly built to last.

Inside, racks and manequins display more clothing, split down the middle between men's and women's fashions. The back wall held rolls of fabric, some plain, others with obviously magical properties. A large, three-sided mirror sits in the back corner, next to a small changing stall. On the other side is a small counter holding a cash register, behind that the door that led to a small workroom.

The Needle and Thread is a clothing shop specializing in custom tailoring and specialty designs. It is owned and operated by Lillith Rock, and the kindly fiendish woman can usually be found behind the counter, or working on orders in the back workroom.

Pontius' Custom Constructs (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The caravan of 6 wagons (I never said 3! Well, I did, but still.) arrives at a warehouse, previously for sale. The gnomes lead the golems and other constructs inside, and get to work. The warehouse has an open yard at the main entrance, and several golems, like crude figures of worked stone or wood, stand in the yard. A gnome wearing an apron over smart-yet-practical artesan's clothes and puts a sign up.

Sanctuary Fortress of Zoemaytare (Player: Rebonack, Red Zone)

Like so many other prominent buildings in Town, or not so prominent buildings for that matter, this place seemed to pop up out of nowhere over night.

Buildings are like mushrooms in Town. Probably spread via spores, too.

Regardless, here it is. A rather sizable campus marble hewn from the mountains some distance away. Carved and hauled here near the edge of the slums where they were no doubt assembled. Though... no one can quite place a finger on when this happened.

Though the buildings aren't of only cold hard stone, no. There are timbers as well. Not what one might expect, however. They seem almost organic. As though they had grown into place rather than being hewn.

Oddness aside, the temple is arranged in a rather interesting fashion. Several concentric wall and courtyards ending in a central temple.

The outer wall is lower than the rest, each tier of the temple built onto higher ground like a wedding cake. Each wall is topped with a roof supported on the inside by pillars, creating a sheltered walkway. The exact use of these porches depends on the section of the temple one happens to be in.

Anyone is allowed entry through the first wall and into the first court, the Court of Meeting. Beyond the second wall only worshipers of Zoemaytare are allowed admittance to the second court, the Court of the Blessed. Beyond the third wall only the priests are allowed, where they carry out holy rituals within the temple itself.

The Court of Meeting is dedicated to service of those the worshipers of Zoemaytare dwell among. Food is prepared for the hungry here and given out without expectation of recompense. Those without a place to lay their head are allowed to sleep within the porch. The grounds beyond the porch are devoted to a wondrous garden boasting vibrancy and spectacular color. This are is always comfortably warm and brimming with life. Wounds heal faster as the body is refreshed. Undead creatures will find that remaining here is decidedly uncomfortable.

The sky above the temple seems to be perpetually clear, filled with pleasant sunlight in the day and cloaked with gossamer stars at night. Benches are set up here and there, under trees with hanging branches and above fragrant shrubbery. A lively stream flows endlessly in a circuit about the Court, spilling into several larger pools and meandering up a small outcrop of stone before cascading back down the other side.

This section of the temple is tended by members of the faith. Not priests, though devote. They can be found tending the garden and serving warm food. When in service to the temple these devotees wear a white linen ephod bearing the symbol of a willow tree, ornately rendered in blue thread. They'll be more than happen to answer any questions. Priests tend to have stricter ceremonial garb, including a blue tunic and white robe in addition to the ephod.

Welcome, traveler. May you be more blessed when you leave than when you came.

New information that isn't readily noticeable at first glance at the temple will be added here.

The temple grounds are protected by a dampening field that blocks unauthorized teleporation and dimensional shifting. The place is something of a fortress after all. Being able to pop in and out at will would defeat the purpose.

Zoemaytare isn't a god of (fill in the black) but rather the patron and protector of her people. As such, her domain, if she even has one, is over all that her people do. The people in question are collectively known as the Zoeos, and this particular temple is their first major venture into Town. At present their stated goal is to set up trade relations and aid the city. This is ministered through the temple on account of the Zoeos government being a theocracy.

It just so happens that there's a dungeon under the temple, though the entrance to it is well hidden.

NPCs thus far:

Potentate of the temple: the head priest and administrator. He has yet to be seen 'on screen' though he has been referred to.

Regent Zachius: And elderly human with a coppery complexion and deep-set wrinkles, the sort of face one expects of a person who has spent a great deal of time in the sun smiling. He's a kind old fellow who is in charge of the Court of Meeting.

Regent Stephen: A younger human who smells rather distinctly of wolf. He's in charge of the dungeons of the temple and seems to be a rather caring and compassionate fellow. It's his job to bring the cases of prisoners before the Potentate.

Regent Thadeus: One of the priests who aids in minor upkeep in the temple proper. He usually isn't seen outside the temple and since his position doesn't put him in much contact with the common folk he tends to be somewhat aloof and judgmental. Also happens to be an elf. Those snooty elves!

Bognus Thundershield: a lay dwarf that operates the temple's teleporter, primarily from Trog's. Though people can be 'ported in from elsewhere as well. While it isn't commonly known, this device can send people over rather long distances, though it's somewhat inaccurate when doing so. Bognus is a bit gruff, though generally good natured. He speaks with a thick Scottish Dwarven accent.

St. Guinevere's Sanatorium for Lunatics and Object Seekers (Player: Anyone, Gray Zone)
This insane asylum exists for people questing after Objects from the Holders Mythos. Anyone can run an Object quest, but please look at the community agreed guidelines first (http://tinyurl.com/5w42x5c) as it helps keep things consistent.

If you want to use the Sanatorium for other uses, feel free, but expect it to be a house of unspeakable horrors. :smalltongue:

The Sitar's Strings
"By humans, for humans". This restaurant employees only humans and only serves human customers. It is a meeting place for the human supremacist movement. IC Owned by Brian Starling and managed by Jan Lamar. Non-humans with good disguises can get in without being challenged.

Players: (HT as owner/manager, C'nor as waitress Maeve, Mindfreak as entertainer Treb)

The Temple of Dalachrech (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The first room entered is a foyer. On the walls are red drapes with silver, two-tailed scorpions embroidered on to them, and next to the door is an ornate font. The granite font stands about waist height, and is a plinth with a bowl of unholy water. Winding around the font are carved centipedes. A door away from this chamber leads to the main prayer hall. This room also has drapes with the two-tailed scorpion device on the walls, and a red velvet carpet flanked by wooden pews leads to an altar at the far end. The altar is covered with red velvet, with a gold statue and red candles placed upon it. The statue depicts a demon with a centipede's body, a scorpion's tail with spinnerets next to the sting, a stag beetle's head and the claws of a praying mantis.

This is a hidden location in the Grey Zone. Please PM Earl of Purple if you wish to interract there. The Temple is now open to the public.

Trollfinger, Ironpick & Greencheek, Mining & Engineering (Player: Morty, Blue Zone)
A run-down building near Trog's Tavern was bought by three goblin enterpreneurs with a large crew and now houses their mining and engineering company. Everyone who needs something dug, built, repaired or blown up is welcome.

Warwick Works (player: happyturtle, Grey Zone)
In the industrial area, a building is rented and has a new sign put out front.

W
Warwick Works

The building itself consists of a small office area in front and warehouses in back. There is no indication of what sort of business this is, but a certain cyborg with a satellite might recognize the logo and name.

Witch Which's Wish Shop (Grey, Player: Haruki-kun)

Welcome. If you have stepped into this store, it is because you have a wish.

The store is big, ancient and beautiful. It has a large garden with colorful flowers, a pond with fish and running water, and chirping birds. This is the outside of the store. The inside, however, is, to put it simply, gloomy. There’s burning candles and incense everywhere. From the hall where you enter you are led off into a side room with a low table and cushions around it. A tall, masked and unnamed stranger brings tea and snacks to the guests. The Witch sits opposite and rarely ever moves.

RULES (OOC):
This is a Wish shop. Your character will only enter this shop if he has a wish. Whether the wish is granted or not is a different issue.
Witch Which is in charge of the shop and will grant wishes to everyone who asks, regardless of intent or alignment, as long as the appropriate price is paid. Under certain conditions:

Condition one: Witch Which will not haggle. She couldn’t lower a price or overcharge even if she wanted to. A balance must be kept in order for the wish to be granted.

Condition two: When a Wish directly affects another player’s character in a way that would be considered godmodding, the other player must agree first.

Condition three: The Witch may not reject any wish unless the price is too high to be paid. Wishes to take a life or to destroy the world, for example, carry a price higher than anyone can pay. ANYONE.

Condition Four: The Witch will never engage in battle. Be glad. The Witch is the very definition of True Neutral.

Condition Five: The store is not hard to access; in fact, there’s a big sign outside and everything. However, the store’s grounds exist in a special separate dimension, protecting it from anything that could destroy it, up to and including plot.

Condition Six: Haruki-kun reserves the right to alter the conditions if he feels they’re causing problems such as godmodding or similar issues.

(Haruki-Kun wishes for a PM to be sent to him upon someone entering the shop so he knows about it.)

Inside's Defenses, Remnant, and The Council

Defenses

As stated above, the city of Inside is defended by the Walls, Moat and DOOM-Shield, but it is also defended by a more "mundane" force field that can be called upon in times of need, as well as a number of more conventional defensive capabilities, nearly all of which are manned and controlled by Remnant(Controlled for the most part by Wolfbane). These include things from Emergency Bunkers, Relief Stations, Anti-Aircraft Cannon, and the like.

Remnant

As stated before, Remnant is Inside's police force, army, and main defensive body. It is made up of the remains of what was once the Acronymian Empire, and consists of hundreds of men, women, and machines, both soldier and civilian, sacrificing their daily lives and time to make sure the city of Inside is relatively safe for it's citizens. There are Remnant Outposts all throughout the city, with the main HQ in Blue Zone, and less Outposts in Red Zone. These can be reached fairly easily, and allow people to report crimes, turn in criminals, collect bounties, and even ask to be recruited. Remnant controls most of Inside's defenses, but also controls Rapid Response Units capable of stopping fires, providing emergency medical aide, and even disaster relief to clean up debris and fix buildings and roads damaged by the day to day events of Inside.

Squads of Remnants patrol the streets "every so often" and should anyone need one, can interact with them(Please PM Wolfbane upon doing so, however).

As a note, Low-Level Remnants can be Godmodded! They can be assumed to fight the fires that pop up, but can also be asked to provide basic information. This also means that they can be bribed for less well-known information such as someone's name and rank, or to look the other way for a small crime, such as theft. Anything more, please PM Wolfbane to let him know, in case there is something that needs clarified. The Remnants can be godmodded to be killed on occasion, but if it happens too fast, too often, Wolfbane may step in and RP it out. Once again, please PM Wolfbane if you plan on killing a Remnant NPC.

What is NOT Godmoddable:

-Getting Security Codes
-Accessing Secure Areas
-Killing off more than one or two NPCs at a time, or killing a Named Remnant NPC/PC
-Stealing Identities
-Destroying Remnant facilities

It is not impossible for these to happen, but with proper warning provided to Wolfbane, it can be RP'd out and attempted. However, it should be noted that only Low-Ranking Remnants can be Godmodded in this way.

Council

The Council (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195380) is the "ruling" body of Inside. A small group of individuals reside on it, and decide Inside Policy. People can go here for diplomatic relations, trials, or other activities that may concern dealing with an actual government instead of a police force or army.

'Ekkehard' does have some magical senses; he has the ability to see in the dark, but he cannot detect magic without actively searching and that can be detected. "I can sit here, and drink, look around, and see only humans, no point-ears, greenies, stunties, or anything else in sight." 'Ekkehard' smiles.

Also, 'Ekkehard' isn't human himself.

[Red Zone - Just a Park]

The Chrysalid shot by Sophie isn't further wounded by the bullet to its leg, but it also can't get up again because of the bullets already in its eyes. The bullets to the heads of the zombies do nothing at all. Rather, the twitching of the zombies starts to get much worse, and they eventually bend backwards as two blades profuse from their chest. The zombies are blown to large chunks as a new Chrysalid bursts out of each of them.

Sophia's blinks. "...****."

She shoots once at each of newly 'born' Chrysalids, aiming at their eyes to slow them down at least, while pulling another clip out, ready to reload as soon as this clip runs out.

The two new Chrysalids near Sophie have their eyes down, so the bullets hit and deflect from the tops of their heads. They move at their fast pace to flank Sophie while hissing.

Noah will smell multiple different trails. One thing is common between them: blood.

The Chrysalid attacking Gniewomir gets an axe shoved in its mouth. The liguid fromits mouth starts to drip down the blade as it wriggles its head while keeping up its efforts to tear off his helmet. Anatolij's sabre isn't terribly effective; while the armor is somewhat weakened by the hex, there aren't any exposed weak spots. The Chrysalids still being fired upon will take a decent number of hits until they die.

The zombies aren't slowed by SMG fire. The sapper with the shotgun manages to take down one of the zombies, but the other five are still alive. A few seconds later, they cringe and they stop shuffling. Like with the other two, they bend over backwards and blade-limbs burst from their chests. In another instant, more Chrysalids have taken the place of the zombies.

A zombie is stumbling past the alleyway where the children are. There isn't much time to chat, though, as a Chrysalid bursts out of it before long. The new creature sniffs and looks around.

Eh, collateral schmateral. A hero's job is to see that lives are saved and villains vanquished, time nicked and schemes foiled, not worry about the few million dollars worth of property damage he might cause along the way.:smalltongue:

With a mighty CLONK the robot takes a sonic kick to the chest, pounding a foot shaped dent into it's metal hide and causing sparks to burst from it's joints. In counter-attack the droid flails at the doctor, swinging it's stretchy metal arm about like a whip and trying to smack him across the room. Only it's left arm though. Whatever delicate machinery the doc crunched must have controlled it's right, which now trails uselessly on the ground.

And on the other side of the corridor, Divebomb's bombing dive might be interrupted! The ghostly bandit has finally regained control of his puppet, using the possessed bank director to activate one of the vault's many defenses! In front of Gelley, glowing blue lines leap from wall to wall, forming a net of solid light right in her path!

If Divebomb is quick and agile she might be able to get through without touching the lines, but if she does, they'll cling like death itself and give her a nasty electric shock to boot, the voltage starting out fairly low but continuously ramping up until she ceases to move or somehow disables them.

Doctor Decibel shouts a warning to Divebomb!

"It's a trap!"

Before POW! happens cause the Doctor wasn't paying attention to the flailing arm. It's his own fault for having tunnel vision when it comes to these things really. Whoosh, clang! Fortunately the nature of smacking into a metal bank wall creates strong sonic vibrations that the Doctor uses through pseudo not even science to create a shield to soften the blow. Not that it keeps it from hurting, but it keeps it from being overly lethal. It'd be a grimdark comic indeed if he died from a single room toss.

Doctor Decibel chooses to spend this turn getting back on his feet, head ringing.

And now for the hard part.

Which to choose?

"You'll only be able to use one of them," Sigil cautions. "Otherwise it's possible to create some nasty feedback between the multiple foci. Using more than one focus for a spell is really tricky and not something I would suggest attempting without extensive knowledge and practice."

That's coming from personal experience.

Melding multiple types of magic together is something of Sigil's talent. And it has taken him a while to figure out how to pull it off safely.

The one hit by rifle fire isn't hurt, but turns to the source and screams at the soldier before starting a new approach

For Gniewomir, tearing off the Chrysalid's jaw will be just as hard as tearing his helmet off is for the Chrysalid. It keeps struggling and screaming, but it seems to be finally getting a bit weaker.

The SMG and handgun fire does nothing to any of the new Chrysalids, even though they're hit. The grenade is a bit more effective, but it doesn't severely wound any of the creatures. The witch's fire, fortunately, does cause one of them to cringe and scream in pain, as the magic essentially goes right through their armor.

Of the three Chrysalids who remain unharmed, one of them tries to get to Gniewomir and Anatolij, while the other two remain moving around the other bikers to flank them.

The Chrysalid almost takes some steps into the alleyway, but the smell of flesh hits its senses. The sight of mouth-eyes wasn't exactly a good thing either. And Becky appears at roughly the same time, on the opposite side of the crowd. She's wearing her usual (well, current usual) outfit, which is cut very high in the hips, just as high in the back, and rather low in the front. It probably catches a lot of attention.

Of course, the fact she's rather pale and has red eyes might also catch attention in these parts, as she leans back against the wall, one stomper-boot-clad leg tilted back as she looks across the crowd for Clarissa.

[Sitar's Strings]

Clarissa's aura of psychopathic evil switches to one of lust without fair warning! With a quick spell, her tails are cloaked and invisible to the naked human eye! She spies Becky within the minute, her eyes being, naturally, drawn to Becky given their special relationship. With a brisk bounce in her step, Clarissa attempts to kick, shove, and jostle her way to Becky, blazing a trail through an elderly couple, a little kid with a balloon, a distracted mother, a teenage punk with more than enough piercings to make his kryptonite standard refrigerator magnets everywhere, and a decrepit geriatric man with her fists and her Mighty Foot.

"I'm sooo happy to confirm you made it, lover. I thought I might've lost you in the portal for a second there."

Clarissa attempts to hug Becky warmly and hungrily kiss her on the side of her neck.

"Okay, so I was thinking we maunder into the restaurant pretending we're two friends gadding about Inside reviewing eateries for a credible, celebrated column of a local newspaper. We'll chat up the staff and improvise until, at some point, we commence sloppy make-outs and you divest me of my costume. I've a scantier costume underneath this one that will be more to your liking, I'm certain."

With that, Clarissa stops repressing her unique mix of heavenly and demonic beauty. The very act of looking at her becomes highly addictive. To touch her would be an experience well-worth dying for, and that is not an uncommon or unreasonable price to pay for such euphoria. Her voice is a siren's song! Every inch of her body is perfect. She's sublime. People within a three-foot radius of her feel the burdens of life lift from their shoulders. They feel at peace and re-energized, ready to take on the world and all of its injustice! They would be thralls to her as electrons are slaves to positive charges as if she desired them to be. She is exerting some control over their minds through the sweet-scented pheromones she's engaged, but not much. Perhaps Becky is immune to the pheromones to some extent, as Clarissa loves Becky not as a puppet but as a person and might have taken steps to ensure that she isn't intoxicated by them. But perhaps she'll be extraordinarily susceptible to them! I dunno!

The time for demonic/heavenly proliferation is upon us!

"Stigma smashing. How exactly are we to do this, Becky? What's your plan?"

Becky sighs in delight as Clarissa's aura takes hold. She might be somewhat resistiant, given her time spent around the Mask Temple, but she certainly has what few inhibitions she had stripped away!

"I can't wait to see the costrume...and plan? Well your plan sounds as wonderful as any, Clarissa dear," the barely-clad shadowmancer purrs, nibbling at her companion/friend/lover's neck!

The door swings open ominously. A foot adorned with a worn cowboy boot steps in. The floor creaks and dust puffs into the air. Another booted foot follows. The door swings close once more. Above the boots are faded jeans, knees sporting torn holes. A belt with a wide buckle holds them up. A flannel button down shirt is tucked neatly into the pants. Topping the newcomer is a ten gallon hat, tilted low to obscure their face. A long stem of grass shifts from one side to the other as the stranger shifts it from left to right in their mouth.

Which one of you dirty dogs shot my Pa?

No.

Hey, wait! I was just goofing around.

No. No no no. I was going to introduce a really cool character. They had a magic lasso and everything.

Not much to say about her inhumanly cheerful disposition, though.

[Red Zone - Dodgy Blind Alley]

Her day had been terrible. The store she was employed at was robbed. Her school was shut down due to a mutant infestation. She had to skip lunch because someone had burned down the restaurant she always fed at.

And to top it all off, now she was late!

A panting, young girl sprints round a corner into a sketchy back-alley in a particularly run-down neighborhood of the Red Zone. She's late. The sun is beginning to set. As it slowly rolls over the horizon, there's only one thing on her mind.

She must reach her home. Her little flat with eight locks and barred windows. It's late. And when the light is vanquished the criminals come out to play and the monsters openly hunt whatever luckless victim stirs on the streets. The stars don't even shine on this section of the city. Or the moon. Every night the sky promises eternal darkness until the sun overthrows the treacherous shade and reclaims its throne, sending the monsters back to the hell they crawled out of.

For twelve hours at the most.

The girl is a fair-skinned maiden, no older than sixteen. Her body hasn't quite reached maturation as of yet. It is slightly underdeveloped. Her figure is lean. It is obvious that she will grow to be quite a gorgeous woman. Her hair is of a chocolate tone. It is as soft as velvet, as is her skin. Her eyes, clouded glades of muddy water, and her gaze appear to be boring straight though the objects she beholds rather than only capturing one of their faces at time. Her lips are redder and more intense than blood.

Hanging from her work bag, a patchwork rabbit is tied by the arm. It sways to and fro, black button eyes sewn onto its battered, dirty face by a mere thread. There's an abnormally...alien...look to it.

She constantly has a very...depressed...air about her. She drowns in melancholy. She is not at all as merry as a girl her age should rightly be.

She's a hybrid. She once was human. Now she's something more. Something much, much more.

And that's when she identifies it.

A brick wall blocking the road forward. This detour wasted more time than it saved! Maybe she can blast through it! But if that fails, she'll be that much closer to her demise...

"Dang!"

She sighs as she takes a moment to breathe and think. She could scale the wall! Yes! That's how she'll pull this off!

In a flash, she's hopping atop garbage cans, bounding up walls and vaulting over the railing of a fire escape. With a running start, she leaps off of the fire escape, aiming for a point high above the wall she is determined to overcome. She clears the wall, crashing to the ground, her tumble cushioned by bags of shredded paper below her.

Outstanding! She's that much closer to her flat. That much closer to her salva-

"Hello? What have we here?"

Oh gods. Oh gods. She's out of the frying pan and into the fire.

She's landed in the middle of five gang members. Their shirts are of the same hue. They've baggy pants. Two of them are armed with assault rifles and one with an rpg.

This... This is bad!

"Please don't hurt me!"

"Haha! Why'd we run around doing anythin' like that fer? Undamaged goods of fine quality fetch a high price in the slave market."

As if tonight couldn't get any worse...

Aegis Vaults

Aegis Vaults

Decibel's warning not only serves to annoy Gelley, it likely saves her life. The heroine's eyes widen as the light forms, and her thrusters flip to reverse position. In a blast of blue fire, she loses all momentum, grinding on the metal floor before stopping just inches from the barrier.

Too slow. She'd been too slow. Can't hesitate like that again. For now, she contents herself with picking up a nearby robot corpse and tossing it at the hardlight grid.

Shrike chuckles, putting her arm around Fettina and wriggling against her side. A little. "...well, I'll give you chocolate. Or even better: fudge. Mmmm." The Exalt's eyes sparkle in delight at the thought of that. "And I can't drown. Dodge Charms." She winks.

She's from a Medieval-ish type world with some technologies from further forward and others are stuck slightly behind. There's the compass and telescopes, but no gunpowder although some of the large frigates closely resemble those from the Golden Age of Piracy. Meanwhile, some cultures use iron, bronze or even stone weaponry, whilst others use glass.

"We really oughta organize one of these things," Tina says to the girls, smirking. "Not like I haven't got money to burn. You think the Council would mind if we turned GloG's lake chocolate for a day? Y'know, without killin' everything in it?" There's gotta be magic for that.

Both of the Chrysalids near Sophie start to approach her in an almost teasingly slow manner. But one of them is hit in the back by assault rifle fire, and the other by a grenade. The one hit by the grenade is blown away and down to the ground, and it quickly starts to get up.

The bikers use their communicators to call for support. Those things will need heavy weapons to bring them down.

Two of them rush towards the Chrysalids approaching Sophia. They try to draw their attention and give her time to retreat.

Gniewomir, sensing his enemy's weakness, redoubles his efforts as a surge of divine power goes through him. His whole body is sheathed in Svarog's fire.

The couple doesn't strike me as physically inhuman, yes. The existence of eye color-altering contacts and vehement gothic flair would lead me to hypothesize that Becky is human with stylistic preferences matching those of a goth. And Clarissa is disguised, with theatrical verve, as a human policewoman. Her tails are cloaked and a simple illusion has been cast that restores a quasi-human quality to her mouth. Granted, their auras may speak volumes for their true natures, if Becky has one or someone is acutely sensitive to Clarissa's.

But nevermind that! The play must go on!

A smiling Clarissa sways into the restaurant, blowing a bubble with her gum as she advances. Sophia (not Sophie, Sophia) raises her pistol, searching for any weak spots, while drawing a large combat knife...

[Red Zone - Just a Park]

Noah keeps running towards Sophia drawing closer still to her and the Chrysalids that were moving towards her, probably should reach them next post.

Anatolij drives towards the approaching Chrysalid, only to retreat at the last moment. Right now, they need to keep them occupied until support arrives.
[Red Zone - Just a Park]

The Chrysalids near Sophia are successfully distracted by the two bikers. They turn their heads, and then the rest of their bodies and let out a scream before starting their approach.

The Chrysalid grappling Gniewomir is engulfed in flame. It screams in pain, and in a last ditch effort to cause damage, vomits up its poisonous spit, trying to get it on him. His power armor will more than likely protect him.

The other Chrysalids stay with a cautious approach, unsure why some of the bikers are riding away now. A couple of them break off, trying to get into the rest of the Red Zone.

Elsewhere in the Red Zone

The 'children' hiss back, meaning that the alleyway is their territory and any mortals that go through, or zombies for that matter, are theirs. Also, they aren't the ones smelling of rotting flesh; they're rather fussy, and prefer to eat only the tongue, liver and kidneys of their prey. Besides, they're already shells, sort of- each has the next generation of larvae in suspended development within their abdomen. When one is killed, the larvae awaken and eat their way out.

The Chrysalid crouches low and growls again, before moving away from the alley to join the rest of its group.

[Dodgy Blind Alley]

If they can't hear the skittering, then the people in the alley may hear the low hiss of a Chrysalid slowly moving in front of the alley's entrance. A viscous fluid drips from its jaws as it eyes each of its prey.

[An Alley]

The man may hear a pittering noise on the rooftops above him.

The Sitar's Strings

[Sitar's Strings]

She attempts to hug Becky and run her hands down to the base of Becky's spine as she pauses beside her friend. Clarissa additionally attempts to greet her with a devoted kiss. An impassioned kiss that might transfer the minty wad of gum she was chewing into Becky's ownership.

"I apologize for my tardiness, my love. They held me up with a debriefing, and you know how merciless and monotonous those are. So here I am, so late I haven't even had time to change into an evening dress! I just...I couldn't wait to see you, y'know."

Red eyes are generally associated with vampirism or demon heritage. People who want to use inhuman characteristics as fashion will have to prove their humanity to get into Sitar's Strings.

Unless they are two impossibly smoking hot women and the waiter attending the door is a teenage boy. :smalltongue:

At any rate, the teenage boy waiter is still speechlessly ogling Becky.

Hey, first off, I'm really sorry about reading your narrative stuff. I won't do that again, promise. To make up for it, I'm covering lunch! How about some of those little emptied out potatoes that have sour cream and bacon bits and green onions on them?

She looks at Ekkehand.

Oh, I totally agree. Godawful creatures, Kobolbs. Always going around, rik rik riking and learning about friendship and love. Only good for melting down into gold or making into a potion or something. The show was never really clear on that. Wait... Are we talking about kobolds or smurfs? I always get the two mixed up. One of them is blue and the other is named as if they should be blue, but I can never remember which way it goes...

Angie misses her grandfather the most out of any of the family she knew. He was closer to a father for her then her own dad. Getting all this money from him dredged up some old memories of him. Being able to take a trip to get closer to him would be something she would love to do.

"That would actually be great. He never really talked about them with me as a kid, but I bet I can dig up some old dirt on what he did. I would love to do that."

"Then it's settled," Sharon says happily, her face lighting up with excitement. "It'll be awesome!"

Noah runs up to Sophia looking like a fairly excited if a bit angry dog. His ears perked up and his head swiveling around keeping an eye on his surroundings.

"You called for help?"

Noah looks to be a mix of blue collie and some other breed of dog. Though he can talk and he seems fairly calm for being in the middle of a chrysalid invasion.

A flicker of purple, and a similarly colored unicorn is deposited on the side of the road.

Twilight Sparkle is visibly exhausted, a worn look in her eyes and what appears to be a burn mark along one side of her horn, yet she is smiling and standing fairly steadily.
"That wasn't as difficulty as you suggested."

A pulse of energy from the six-pointed star on her flank, stretches into the vague outline of a larger pony, superimposed over the unicorn in a gentle gray color.
It speaks with its own voice, crisp and even.
"Partial Harmony is easier to fix than Chaos. The Princess had already done most of the work, long ago."
"But this place..."
"Greater magic will be needed here."

They begin to walk, perfectly synchronized as if the outline was nothing more than a peculiar suit.
Twilight frowns, considering as she watches a group of Inside citizens move along, a mixed batch of races and creeds.
"How do we start? Ibby said they'd resist..."
"The deeper the Chaos, the stronger the repulsion to Harmony. A common denominator must be found. A vague approximation, if necessary.
Start with a foundation. Gather data, but quickly. There is little time before the land reacts, or your friends misguidedly intervene."

A moment of silence between the two, as the smaller equine thinks.
It's a brief silence, as she's always prided herself on being fairly good at logicking out solutions to problems.
"Well, the vast majority of intelligent species here seem bipedal to some degree. Not all of them, certainly, but most of them.
We could use that and investigate the tavern my friends had found. It seemed to have an even representation of the city's inhabitants."

"Let us not dally."
With the suggestion from Twilight, the superimposition smiles and they turn a corner.
An idea and purpose in mind, the pair moves onwards towards Trog's Tavern.

The robot slams into the grid and is caught, like a fly on a spiders web, sparks dancing across it's metal chassis and limbs twitching spastically in the current. A resonating buzz fills the room, rising and rising and echoing from wall to wall until the superheated metal is strained to it's limits and, with an ear-splitting BOOM!, shatters into a hail of molten shrapnel.

The lights flicker off. The defense grid goes with them. "Well, uh, hah! You've only fallen right into my evil trap! What could be worse than being trapped in the dark with... A ghost?!" Mr. Ghost doesn't sound quite as assured of his inevitable victory as he's trying for.

Aegis Vaults

"Quite probably being trapped in the dark with a werewolf. Or a vampire. Or a giant spider. Or..."

Doctor Decible hates not answering questions.

Anyways, the dark doesn't scare him because... he has the power to utilize echolocation! By waving his hands around in a pattern that would most likely be very embarrassing if he could actually be seen doing it, high pitched sound waves above the normal hearing spectrum spread out and bounce back upon hitting objects and inform or Director of Sound of their location. Said ridiculous hand movements may or may not be forgotten in future issues and begin to cause continuity contradictions and inconsistencies in writing.

Granted, I don't think he stopped to think that of all the things echolocation can find for him, a ghost probably isn't one of them...

James Dalton sits alone in a small booth, drinking a cup of coffee, periodically glancing at his phone to check the time, and generally minding his own business. He's a human of medium height, rather narrow shoulders, brown-haired and about 25 years of age. Aside from some red blotches around his cheeks where he's been burned before, a faint tobacco odor about his person, and small, weasely little eyes quick to narrow at anyone and everyone who comes near, there's not much else to say about him. Like so many other young men his age, he's jaded, emotional, quite selfish, and prone to thinking he'll live forever. Just another sad little human trapped in a world where he doesn't belong. Looking at him, you'd never suspect he did time under Remnant's penal company for multiple counts of murder in the first degree.

The man looks around and sees the girl.
"What do you want?"

It's about now that the Chrysalid drops down from its spot on the other side of the man from the child, hissing.

[Dodgy Blind Alley]

The Chrysalid is hit by a rocket, and spoke plumes over the alley. Surely, it's dead from something that potent, right?

In another instant, an inhuman scream is heard, and the Chrysalid dashes through the smoke towards the man who fired the rocket at him. It doesn't seem harmed at all by that, and it's going very fast. Once it makes its approach, it tries to grab the man by the shoulders.

A small building in the old slums in the red zone. It used to be an general store with a large upstairs apartment. It was one of the first things Angie had bought up, and remodeled. Now it acts as a free clinic, and is where Angie keeps her office. A surprisingly small office, cramped into a closet sized room. She has her chair, a desk and just enough room for two chairs opposite it.

If one is paying close attention, the upstairs should have quite a bit more space then is accounted for. Maybe there is a secret room around, or a whole bunch of storage.

Angie sits at her desk reading over some reports on a few of her projects.

"Mmmm! As if!"

Clarissa's tongue is a little too tied up to communicate effectively with Brian! :smalltongue:

Clarissa would take a stab at breaking away from Becky and circling Brian like she were a shark in an old ocean terror movie before returning to her place at Becky's side if she weren't so dreadfully busy with more pressing subjects at hand. :smallamused: She does take a second of her time to generously give Brian a hungry, predatory grin from the depths of her stomach, where his heart might be were this not a peaceful protest. She'll attempt to swipe his fancy-dancy, posh top hat of status right off of his head, don it, and play keep away with it should he attempt to reclaim it.

Her tails uncloak and her rows and rows and rows of razor-sharp pearly whites are bared for an instant. Her wings, as white as the virgin snow as if their master was designed to be as pure as the driven snow, rip two giant, clean holes through the back of her dress shirt, brought to bear in the hope of establishing a perimeter around Brian's front and sides, a net from which he shan't be freed without some hassle.

Clarissa is not setting the stage to bully Brian just yet...

She would much rather try to beat up his eyes and brain!

Full-blown pheromones, lust aura, mind-fogging, personality, voice, and magic casting go! One of Clarissa's seven sins, Lust, seizes control of her!

-------
[Dodgy Blind Alley]

The Chrysalid should be able to grab the rocket man by the shoulders without running into any problems at all!

After it catches him, however, that becomes another story entirely... Two flashy energy beam saber armed gang duelists (the two who weren't visibly armed previously) attempt to plunge their weapons into any exposed portion of the Chrysalid as the sabers spark to life while the rocket man, who is likely restrained by the alien for the most part, attempts to headbutt the Chrysalid if any of its body parts are within range.

Eericka nods at Alder compliantly. He's a godsend...or so it seems. But she doesn't know who he is or what his role in this line of events is. He could be a slaver working with that gang's competition. He could be a murderer or a serial killer who stalks the streets at night searching every shadowy corner for victims of a specific height or with a specific hair or eye color. :smalleek:

But right now, she's willing to trust him. At least until they're out of this mess. But he's got to have a motive for being out and about on the streets this late at night. No good man survives a night outside in this neighborhood. Not even one.

Alder nods to her and then draws out a pair of silver spheres. The first one, he throws with enough force to send it flying into the street just outside of the alley. Once that is done he grabs hold of the second sphere, places his hand on Ericka's shoulder and then in a flash of light, the two of them should now be at the location of the first sphere. Alder then points down the street.

Let's move.

He says as he takes off at a jog, making sure that Ericka keeps up with him.

Sitar's Strings - Becky and Clarissa

((This scene should probably be separate from the Ekkehand plotting))

Clarissa acquires one top hat. It is a well-made top hat. Silk. Clearly very expensive. Starling does not deign to play "keep away" with Clarissa though. Even if she immediately returned the hat, he'd burn it rather than wear it ever again. :smallyuk:

The various employees of the restaurant react to the wave of lust. Emily drops a tray of food and staaaares absently at Clarissa, while the teenage boy waiter loses it completely. (The less said about him the better.) A bartender watches and drools, but does manage to hit the alarm, sending a shrieking klaxon to assault the ears of the inhabitants.

Starling, however, holds up under the Lust onslaught remarkably well. Amazingly well. He stands in the circle of Clarissa's wings and stares her down with the power of utter disdain and complete conviction in his own superiority.

"Get. Out." :smallannoyed:

Oh, and absolute asexuality. That helps a lot.

The corners of the child's mouth turn up in a smile. Then the child's mouth opens, revealing she's not really a child; instead of a mouth is a large eyeball with a blue iris and a square pupil. Her eyes also open, revealing themselves as small, fanged maws which quickly extend onto stalks. The murderer won't get a good look, though; the child jumps up and runs on all fours up the wall, waiting near the top. The Chrysalid's bigger; it gets first dibs of the man, and hopefully can't reach the 'child'. Hopefully the person that's already dead won't be eaten, so that way the 'child' at least gets a meal.

Gelley laughs in the face of darkness! Well, not literal laughter, that would be silly. She just sighs and switches on her visor's nightvision - hopefully the ghost is still visible when she uses it. "Can you just give it up already? I'm trying to make a good impression on my new boss here."

Gniewomir will try to throw the Chrysalid off of him. His armor will indeed protect him from the spit.

The other bikers will try to keep the Chrysalids focused on them. Two of them will drive around the ones heading off, trying to corral them back to the park. One of the bikers drives off, intend on getting into position far away from the park, from where he can snipe.

Backup will arrive next post.

A spaceship - if the asteroid with thrusters attached could be called such - soars into view. Some giveaway metal components poke out, most notably the cockpit, but otherwise it's a featureless gray rock.

The other notable feature is the pair of twin-linked autocannons mounted on the ship's underbelly. The rotate, locking onto the Chrysalid that's currently straddling Gniewomir, and fire. A superheated metal slug zips through the air, and provided Gniewomir makes no sudden movement, he might find his assailant suddenly disintegrated in a flash of gore.

A ramp opens on the side of the ship, and standing on that ramp is the imposing alien called Teq Vraal. There's a tremendous rifle in his hands, nearly ten feet long, and he shoulders it to take aim at the nearest Chrysalid. His squad, meanwhile, ropes down onto the street, all of them dressed in hefty-looking body armor.

"Oh yeah. Sorry about that I was making sure no one was following us. I know it may seem a bit paranoid, but old habits and all that. We should be there soon."

Not to mention the fact that he had just had people try to take control of his brain.

"I can't really blame you, after what happened," Charity says.

"Yeah I think my life is going to get a lot more complicated till this all gets sorted out. By complicated of course I mean dangerous."

He says as a way of warning her that hanging around him could get her hurt, or in trouble. He doesn't want her to leave him alone or anything, he just would feel guilty if he didn't say anything, then something happened.

Temple of Splendours

When Myrim sees Tina get hit by the syrup, she smiles and dives under, swimming through the syrup till she's at Shrike's foot and tries to give it a tickle.

[Red Zone - Just a Park]

Gniewomir successfully throws the Chrysalid off. It lays on the ground, trying to crawl away. This shell was too strong for it.

The other Chrysalids that haven't already escaped are corralled into the park, and can't really do much. They're very fast, but the bikers are ultimately faster.

Gniewomir doesn't chase the Chrysalid, instead joining the other bikers in trying to corral them. Meanwhile, backup has arrived.

The first to arrive are five heavy bikes with riders clad in much heavier armor than Anatolij and his men. The bikes' backs are painted in a motif of white wings on red background. The bikers are holding something that looks like powered lances. Then there's an armored truck with a HMG nest on the roof.

Upon arriving, the new bikers will attempt to charge the Chrysalids, each aiming for one monster. If they hit, the lances will impale the aliens with tremendous energy, multiplied by the technology they're equipped with.

Meanwhile, the truck pulls over and the machine gun begins firing on the Chrysalids not attacked by the Hussar bikers.

Shrike grins impishly at Tina - then jumps with a squeak as she's tickled, going to scramble out of the syrup and onto the edge of the pool rather stickily!

If this were Tobias, there would likely be some sort of tentacle joke in response to that description. BR, however, just raises an eyebrow and looks intrigued with a nod. "Sure, that sounds different."

"He is quite a guy."

Angie takes a seat behind her desk picking up her phone and hitting a series of numbers before hanging up. A few seconds later a small doorway of light appears above the empty chair. It swings open and crawling out comes a large Octopus. He settles onto the chair, with three tentacles below him holding him up so he is closer to the level of a person sitting in a chair.

"Ah, hello there Angie and friend, how are we all doing today?"

Another two tentacles close and fold away the door into nothingness, some sort of ancient looking script flowing across its skin on those two tentacles.

"Doing very well Fabian, this is my old friend John."

"Hello John."

"Pleased to meet you. Full name's John O'Connell, any friend of Angie's is a friend of mine," the ghost says with an nod, a bit surprised that it's a literal octopus despite the description.

"Hey, I wouldn't make a good medic if I was scared of a little danger," Charity says. She's lying. She is a confirmed coward and hates danger. But she's faced down her own fears enough times since arriving in the Nexus to know she can do it, even if she'd rather turn and run.

"Fabian Littoral. A pleasure to meet you. So how can I be of assistance?"

"Well we were hoping you might be able to get in touch with the group that recommended you to me. I was hoping to find out more about my grandfathers adventures. Specifically where he had been. I'm trying to plan a trip."

"I see. I doubt I will get to many specifics, but finding locations even just general shouldn't be to hard. There should be some record of it. Celestial bureaucracy has a long memory."

"Hey if you think these guys are after you, or watching you, will you let me know. I know you have other friends that can probably take care of it, but these guys came after me."

He frowns and then gives a shrug. They are now standing in front of a very large looking mansion in a nice neighborhood, Calvin doesn't seem to be going any further, must be home.

Sitar's Strings

Latalla looks from her companions to James and back.

I don't know what's going on-

As usual.

Sorry. Continue.

AS I WAS SAYING. I don't know what's going on, but if gold needs to change hands for this to get going, I can cover that. One moment.

She holds out her hand and a sword appears in it. It vanished and is replaced by a brick. That, in turn, vanishes and a chainsaw takes its place. A rocket launcher, a hammer, a knife, a whip, a banana peel, a high tech blaster riffle of somekind.

Hold on, I have it here somewhere.

A mason jar plugged with a massive cork, a scythe, and finally, a bunch of gold coins appears in her hands.

Yay! I knew I had those on my weapons roll table somewhere.

She proceeds to attempt to dump the coins in James' hands. There is a lot there. Probably three times as much as he was asking for. This, incidentally, was how she was planning on paying for dinner.

BR stays respectfully quiet, but it's clear from his expression that he hasn't particularly cared for celestial bureaucracies in the past.
