Are there any ways to acquire an animal companion at level one in pathfinder- excluding being a druid?

This is semi-official WotC material, but you'll have to compare it to Druid and Ranger Pathfinder rules and adapt it to fit: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a

The Netbook Of Feats has this: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Wondrous_Pet_(3.5e_Feat)

Well, there's also Cavalier, but it's assumed you're going to be riding it.

The beast rider archetype (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/cavalier/archetypes/paizo---cavalier-archetypes/beast-rider) for cavaliers gives you a mount that functions like an animal companion as of level 1

The normal one does, too; it just has to be a horse.

Animal Companion:
Sylvan Wild-Blooded (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/archetypes/paizo---sorcerer-archetypes/wildblooded/sylvan) Sorcerer. Counts at level -3 (minimum 1).

Falconer (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/falconer) Ranger, must be a Bird, only has 1/2 HP until level 4.

Mounts: (technically mounts ARE an entirely separate feature)
Normal Cavalier (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/cavalier), and most archetypes. Beast Rider archetype has a greatly expanded list, but is still considered a Mount.

Nature Mystery (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/oracle/mysteries/paizo---oracle-mysteries/nature) Oracle (counts as a Companion for Nature Warden (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/n-r/nature-warden) PrC though).

Other:
Summoner (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/summoner) gets an Eidolon, which functions similar to an Animal Companion (still VERY different though).

Also, the Human only Feat Huntmaster (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/arg-feats/huntmaster-human) has you count as one level higher, if you have a certain type of companion (and unlike Boon Companion, this does NOT cap you at character level, so a 1st level character can have a '2nd level' companion).

If you don't NEED it at level 1, there are plenty of other options, including any Domain capable classes.
And don't get me started on the many MANY ways to snag a Familiar...

Can I plug stuff from 3.5? Cuz there's Ranger which you of course know about. But also there's a Nature Bard variant that gives you an animal companion and a couple other things. Also a Variant for any casting class that gets a familiar and you get an animal companion (progression at half-druid speed) in exchange for having a familiar.

Also the Wild Cohort (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a) feat.
