In Chios , Greece (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PijfPZx88I), two neighboring towns have a tradition of trying to ring the other town's church bell with rockets. While the worshippers are celebrating mass inside.

Here's a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3b0q1XLToY) from the bell tower. They do manage to ring it fairly frequently.

...

Doggone it, why don't we ever get to do any fun stuff? :Searches the bulletin in vain for the "shooting rockets at people" ministry:

Respectfully,

A church youth group I was part of played fire soccer.
It's quite simple.
You make a ball of rags and soak it in diesel fuel. You wrap it in chicken wire or hardware cloth, and light it on fire.
Then you play soccer with it.
No sissy flame retardant gel or even the remotest edge of sanity.
I still have the shoes that caught on fire while playing; melted drops of chicken wire splashed on the uppers and laces.

The bell ringing heard in the second video, there's no way that's from the fireworks. It's far too regular in rhythm, also it frequently rings even when there's a lull in the rockets. Someone's ringing that manually.

Given that the rockets don't have a explosive component and chickenwire appears to be sufficient to stop them penetrating, I'm also somewhat dubious of their ability to ring a large heavy bell.
