The spell Planar Exchange allows the caster to swap places with an outsider (the type of outsider dependent on which variation of Planar Exchange being used) and can control the actions of the outsider directly. This has the major advantages of having complete control of the called creature, and simultaneously protecting the caster.
The best use of the spells that I can think of would be to share them with a familiar, allowing it to fight beside you without the pesky threat of it dying. Unfortunately Planar Exchange is a Cleric spell, so they do not have a familiar.
Any advice or thoughts on how to optimize the Planar Exchange spell line?
