So, what are everyone's favorite homebrew disciplines for ToB? Hell, what's everyone's favorite homebrew ToB in general? My now far-too-often-mentioned group recently had a party member die, and he looked at ToB battle and said "I like it, but is there....more?"

The biggest one, for me, is actually a change in setting sun. The trip maneuvers, instead of letting you pick dex or str, let you pick both.

Most of the stuff TDO wrote applies as well, my favorite being sleeping goddess.

Who is TDO?

Also, if you like setting sun, give this one (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85614) a perusal.

Funny you ask that right before linking a discipline made by The Demented One. :smalltongue:

Incidentally, Dancing Leaf is one of my favorites. It's great on all kinds of characters, and adds in a set of powers not really covered well by the basic 9 disciplines (you can get defensive stuff, but its very spread out). It's simple, probably one of the more balanced homebrew disciplines, and useful.

Welp. I feel more than a little stupid =P And yeah, it's pretty great. I mentioned in another thread that I'm contemplating a lockdown Swordsage focusing on trips, Setting Sun, and Dancing Leaf.

I'm partial to disciplines that allow you to elegantly fill a niche or concept that are otherwise difficult (or horribly inefficient) to fill with standard 3.5 rules, like Falling Star (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10707), Army of One (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5710173) (melee fear/control), Golden Lion (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179884) (tactical group movement), and my own Lightning Fox (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13098583) (hit and run movement).

Also, spending a few hours reading through any homebrew compilation thread always makes me angry at WotC. There is no reason for lazy/bs writing that spawns so many cruddy class abilities, feats, spells, etc. (I'm looking at you, everything that grants +1-3 to a minor situational check) when there are so many possibilities and so much creative talent out there.
