Lets recall: Iaijutsu Focus activates if you draw the weapon and hit a flat-footed opponent. It allows to deal extra damage to the attack.

Some ideas for getting the most of it.

- Quick Draw Feat + Gnome Quickrazor Weapon, if the character is near he can get the full-attack instead of a single one.
- Hidden Blade Skill Trick, makes the enemy flat-footed for a round. It is usable once at encounter.
- Grease Spell, puts any enemy without 5 balance ranks flat-footed while in the area of effect.
- Distract Assailant Spell, makes an enemy flat footed for a round if it fails a Will saving throw.

Do you know other cunning way to make an enemy flat-footed?

Just a couple points of clarification.

The Hidden Blade skill trick causes the foe to be treated as flat-footed against the first attack you make in that turn - not flat-footed for a round.

The Distract Assailant spell causes the foe to be treated as flat-footed until the beginning of its next turn - not flat-footed for a round.

I know those may seem like inconsequential details, but in 3.5 combat, these can be significant differences.

Edit: Oh, and a Blurstrike Weapon (MIC) will make a foe flat-footed against the first strike you make with the weapon in the round when you activate it. Uncanny Dodge thwarts it and characters who do not use sight (blindsight, etc) are not affected.

Surprising Riposte makes a creature you've feinted and attacked flat-footed for a round. With a way of free/swift-action feinting (eg. Invisible Blade, Scarlet Corsair, Absorb Weapon), it can work pretty well.

The only problem, perhaps....is IF you have a tough DM.

Iaijutsu says when attacking a flat footed opponent when immediately drawing a melee weapon...

just remember to always re-sheath your weapon, or carry a bunch of sheathed, light weapons :)

That's what the gnomish quickrazor is for. Sheathe as a free action.

The Flick of the Wrist feat (CW) also makes an opponent flat-footed for your next attack, it works once per opponent per encounter.

Get several bags of Marbles (A&EG), instead of putting them in bags use a square of cloth. Ready them as weaponlike objects and you can quick-draw them, which also yanks the cloth enclosure out of the loop on your belt that was holding it together. You can then drop it into an adjacent square as a free action, which accomplishes the same thing as Grease against most opponents. After that just full-attack away with your Quickrazor, but don't expect to recover even half the marbles after a fight.
