Eragon build?

How would you build Eragon and Sapphira in gestalt?

Probably a lightning warrior//wizard with a blue dragon familiar.

Warblade//Sorcerer for Eragon perhaps. Sapphira, dunno. AFAIK she's pretty much the standard blue dragon. Apart from not being evil. Eragon got that covered though.

Sapphira is not a Blue Dragon, but closer to Red in her abilities. Scale color is just superficial details. She has a fire-damaging breath weapon, and has shown great magical potential. Red Dragons have fire-breath weapon and are the best caster's of the True Dragon's, along with Gold.

I don't see Eragon as a powerful enough caster to have full casting on one side.

Maybe half gold/red-Dragon? in this caimpiagn world half-breed animals are usually fantastic above and beyond their parents.

Gemstone dragons do exist (most are in MM II), but Saphire is a dragon called Saphire, not a saphire dragon.

If Pathfinder material is on the table, I'd say Magus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus) on one side, and if third party is an option, Dragonrider (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/super-genius-games/dragonrider) on the other. Also, use the Words of Power casting variant and be a half-elf.

If third party isn't an option but Pathfinder is, then be a Cavalier (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/cavalier) instead of Dragonrider with Leadership (opting for a Monstrous Mount (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/leadership---final#TOC-Monstrous-Mounts) instead of a cohort) to get a dragon mount.

i probably should have mentioned that the caimpaign is E6. these are supposed to be my tough encounter of the night, at 2 well played level 6 characters. the party is level 5 and mid op. does any one know a good dragon base class? other than dragon HD? and what would i put on sappira's other side? "Eragon" is Duskblade//X or Fighter//fullcaster X. what should "X" be?

I'd suggest psionics for the caster side. IMO power points fit the 'I can cast this much magicbefore I am exhausted/dead' much better than spell slots

Sadly I have to agree with RFLS, He uses Truenaming magic quite a bit, case and point being on horst when he compels him using his truname to travel blind to the elven city after Eragon saves him from the Ra sac (Sorry if I'm misspelling some stuff, its been a while since I've read the books) and he fully intends to use it to kill Galbatorix (Didnt read the last book because the first chapter was a hunk of crap, couldn't finish the rest.)

so if you want to stick completely to the character I would have to say Truenamer//duskblade.

Do I condone this build? Hell no.

Is it accurate? ....yea, yea it is T.T

EDIT: Don't forget to make him a half elf.....that happened too.

The fluff is True Names, but in Eragonverse, Truenaming is actually effective. :smallbiggrin:It's just the flavor given to a conventional magic system.

Well there's this (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=270.0), monster races as classes. There's quite a few for dragons. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, though.

Truenaming fits, but only to a degree. You can cast spells without the language (clarified in book 2), and there is no real evidence of the laws. Plus the magic was pretty versatile, so you want a wide list of options to replicate that.

No, that was him gaining permenant extraordinary haste and +10 to all physical stats. Half-Elf Paragon does not do justice to how insanly overpowered the elves of that setting were.

For Saphire, maybe some other monster raccial progression // dragonfire adept could work.

Yea, I read the first two books before I started dnd, so imagine my disappointment when I saw half elves in the phb.

Aha! He's a Swiftblade. Sadly though, that doesn't really work in E6.

For Eragon in E6, I'd go with Warbade//Sorcerer. Race would be human with some kind of template to represent the way elves work in that series (important parts would be good stat boosts and maybe the dragonblood subtype).

Don't bother trying to build Saphira with character levels, she's just a very young gold dragon.

huh, so eragon is a swiftblade? i just so finished a level 20 duskblade/swiftblade/abjurant chamipon// focused specialist abjurer/ master specialist/ultimate magus build, custom gestalt rules letting me dual advance prestiges.

im using Xerinous's posted link to the red dragon class for my "eragon" gestalted with the savage species template for half gold dragon/ half red dragon/ paladin of chaos and barbarian levels. they really rock together!
