Come one come all to the Giant in the Playground Team Fortress 2 Trade Thread! Have metal and need a hat or two? Or perhaps you want to swap some strange items? Here is the place to do it! Just put what you have here, and what you are looking for!

Things you may not be aware of: Even though this is a TF2 trade thread, you can trade many things through Steam! Games such as Dota and Super Monday Night Combat support Steam Trades, and games as well can be traded.

Helpful links to those new to the item trade scene:

The Spreadsheet (http://tf2spreadsheet.blogspot.com/) - a helpful site that gives a rough estimate of the average price an item is selling for.

Backpack.tf (http://backpack.tf/) - another site for giving prices on items. Remember with the all spreadsheets: these are the average prices, so people may be buying and selling for more or less. Also, both sites are fallible, so do not depend on just one site to get your prices!

TF2 Outpost (http://www.tf2outpost.com/) - a trade site, log in through steam and trade with people around the world!

TF2 Warehouse (http://www.tf2wh.com/) - a site dedicated to trading with bots. Basically, they keep a store of items, you trade your items in to the bots for points, and spend your points on what you want. Do be warned, they take a cut on your item's worth when you trade to them. Good for unloading stuff fast.

Helpful things to know:

-1 Scrap Metal is made from 2 Weapons of the same class
-3 Scrap = 1 Reclaimed Metal
-3 Reclaimed = 1 Refined
-Depending on where you look, a Key is worth about 2.55-2.66 Refined.

What are all those decimals you ask? Well, you are in luck, because Old Man Kurgan is in an answering mood! A refined is just "1", or most will say "I will pay a refined for this", or "2 refined for this" and so on.

A Scrap is noted as .11, as 9 Scrap = 1 Refined. Using this formula, 1 Reclaimed [which is made out of 3 Scrap] is the .33.

As such, if someone says to you "I'll give you .33 for this", they are saying "I'll give you a Reclaimed". For a few more examples, .44 would be 1 Reclaimed and 1 Scrap, and 2.66 would be 2 Refined and 2 Reclaimed.

On the Cleanliness of Your Items:
When someone says they have a "Dirty" item, it means that it was purchased from the Mann Co. Store, and is thus unusable in crafting. On the flip side, a "Clean" item is NOT from the store, and originates from crates, item drops, or crafting.

Clean items are usually worth more than their dirty counterparts.

The Hairy Modfather: If you're going to exchange/trade/swap games through this forum, keep it to using the Steam trading system only. Do not advertise to sell/trade/buy any goods using real money or keys.


Oh, and btw, I mean game activation keys. If TF2 in-game keys can be traded in the Steam trade system, that's ok too, as long as it's not for real money or game activation keys.

I don't have any of those at the moment, but, for the record, getting 10 pyro achievements for the flare gun is pretty straightforward. 22 for the Axestinguisher (Which is basically a straight upgrade of the fire axe) is a little more difficult, though.

Sandman is also a Scout achievement item. You need 16 achievements to get it, but playing 5CP maps will get you Block the Plate, Set the Table, Side Retired, Triple Play, and Stealing Home eventually. Gun Down is easy enough against an unguarded Sentry since you can stand outside its range (or piggyback off of a Soldier or Demoman by plinking away with the Pistol and trying to killsteal).

Batter Up! and Race for the Pennant you'll get eventually just by playing Scout.

But I never crafted one, my saxton hale thing is traded, and I have the achievement.

I typically use the Vita-Saw because I hate losing charge and I rarely if ever melee, but yeah, that's a decent loadout.

After looking over some information about the economy and building/trading, I'm still kinda confused. I'll probably figure it out once I get some good items for trading, though.

The trading economy fluctuates according to what comes on the market and how much of it there is. For example, if I'd sold my Master Mind the instant I got it, I'd have been able to wrangle two keys from it because that's what the market said it was worth. Now, it's down to two refined because there are more of them.

The TF2 spreadsheet (tf2spreadsheet.blogspot.com) is a fairly reliable reference guide to trade prices.

Opening a crate with a key is almost always less profitable than using a key to pay for the exact item you want. Thus, you only ever want to really open crates that have a large chance of getting valuable items, such as crate 19 (which has the strange grenade launcher, worth five keys.)

My medic loadout depends on what situation I use. On offense, I find that the medigun is the most useful, since you have to push past sentries. On defense, all you have to do is kill them quickly, so I use Kritzkrieg. General, for funzies medic I use the quick-fix--it's surprisingly good, despite what people tell you. If only it overhealed...

So, all purpose medic loadout: Blutsauger, Kritzkrieg, Ubersaw. Vita-saw is nice, but having a guaranteed +25% after one hit is too nice to ignore. I get in fights as medic perhaps too often.

Blut/Uber for more combat medic, Medieval set for support/long range healing. Combat medics tend to be insulted by tryhards, though.

I tend to use the Medieval Medic set (Crusader's Crossbow and the Amputator.) If you have that set, I recommend going to DeGroot Keep with that equipped for getting Peer Review, Sawbones, or FYI I am a Medic, since there you have your team raging about you being a battle medic.

As for any other loadouts, Medic's unique melee weapons are more or less straight upgrades from his stock weapon. I barely touch the Quick-fix, since to me, the loss of Invincibility and Overheal isn't quite made up by the quicker heal and charge rate. Though if you find a Demoman or Soldier that knows how to explosive jump well, it's very useful for getting to the front lines. Remember that the Kritzkerg is useless in trying to destroy a sentry nest, since buildings are immune to Critical hits.

And now for something related to trading.
I have in my inventory for quite some time two Conscientious Objectors and a Decal tool. Since I am stuck with indecision as to what image I want on it, I've decided to put it up for sale. Decal Tool for one Refined, Conscientious Objectors are 2 scrap each.

If you want to spend real money to buy TF2 things, I think that is best, or buy from another person who is selling keys cheaper then Valve due to currency rates and what not.

Or do what I do and just get drops each week and work yourself from there. You can craft two weapons into scrap then scrap into reclaimed metal then into refine metal and an be used to get various things.

Yes, single MvM ticket or cheapest paint on sale (generally, any kind of consumable tool) then keep collecting spare weapons/hats for trading. Keys are best gotten in trade for metal or cheaply for cash, main store is poor source unless you want some short-lived key (like current Eerie keys) for some reason.

I virtually never saw any hat on sale so cheap you can't literally buy more keys than it is worth for cheaper, get craftable, much more valuable version of that hat for the keys and enjoy a lot of metal change, too.

Had the hats in question weren't 'dirty' there might have been some value in not wasting time trading, but as it is, once you post key offer sellers will flock to you with clean hats and metal, so why bother? If you don't care about hat being 'dirty', then you can in almost all cases buy it for about a week worth of item drops anyway.

Anyway, my point sort of is - don't want them? Dump them on the market. 6 crates per weapon. Or 10 crates per weapon. It might be small, but is still a profit. Or, give them away for free - someone will be happy. Liberal deleting of the crates brought a lot of bad stuff to the market and made a lot of new players unhappy. Say no to exploitation of newbies! :smallyuk:

Follow the link. If you're logged into Steam in your browser, you can then send a friend request from there. Otherwise, you can copy the Steam ID, and from there open up the Friends window and click on "Add a Friend..." and paste the ID in there.

To trade, once the person's become your Steam friend, simply click on the arrow next to their name in the Friends window and select "Invite to trade."

I'd possibly recommend going premium by buying two Eerie keys, then selling them off at the warehouse when they become tradabe. That way, you get a nice 32000 points to start off with, and can turn that into hats, metal, or weapons you need/want fairly quickly.

So I made a trade with Fax, masks for a Pryo soul, non haunted as Fax didn't have a lot of metal and I didn't need some.

Well when I was playing someone said "Willing to trade a strange for pryo soul!"

I jumped on it, and got a strange flamethrower!

I then got a pile of curses and got a haunted pryo soul not more then 3 mins after the trade.

After playing some more, I decided to give it its own loadout from my own strange Backburner. Thats when I noticed it has not one but two strange parts, crit kills and Allies extinguished.

Yeah, kinda. I sell junk in bulk to them. Like, 50 crates bulk. Sure, they're not much, but when you want to be rid of the abominable things, well, that's a reasonable price.

Add on that stuff at a non-reasonable selling price is available to be bought...

And seasonal stuff is good to sell. Eerie crates are roughly 1.5 weapons, which is better than you can get elsewhere...

At any rate, they're best used for speed, not profit.

Souls are drops from gifts that are found in the Halloween maps. Which are restricted to the holiday and when there is a full moon. They are class specific and when you equip it, if gives you a Zombie form.

I am friends with pretty much everyone here so I can't give you step by step directions, but click on the person above your post that listed as "Steam" That should take you to ForbiddenWar's profile page, there on the right hand side you can see "Last online" (assuming he isn't online) and by there, there should be a way to add friends.

Or you can open up the Steam menue and then click on Friends then two options down is "Add a friend..." which opens up into a glorified text box that allows you to type various things, which can be problematic, as people can share the same name. For example if I type in "Dublock" for myself, I see four people, none of which are me. You should see 5 (including myself). The one with Bill (Left 4 Dead character, green background, old guy) is me and then click on Add Friend.

Well, they should be able to add you if you give your steam id here. You can find it by going to the community tab, then going to your profile and hitting "edit profile". From there, there is a a "profile" tab, which lets you name your profile, put a real name in, and so on. Below that is the "custom URL" which is a link to your page. For example, mine is this:

Kicks you. It has somewhere around 5 to 10 minutes for your trade. If you idle, it disconnects because of inactivity. I had that happen precisely because I left it running, waiting for my turn.

Talking about Steam accounts, yea of course they use dummy accounts.

Perhaps I was not clear (won't be the first...or last time lol). The credit cards that they steal, those cards need to be setting off fraud alarms.

A credit card company has a set of fraud alarms that are designed to go off if something fishy comes up. A classic example is if my credit card is used in say Africa, somewhere I have not been close to, then they should raise a red flag and check into it to make sure its really me.

Well Steam and whatever credit card companies this is affecting should be doing the same thing, even if the user has played TF2, there is no way they are purchasing that large amount of keys. If a user (of the credit card) never purchased anything from the Steam store, then that should be a big red flag right there.

It depends on the crates really. Those 43-49s you have are not worth too much at the moment - market is over-saturated so the only buyers are going to be people who will hold onto them for the next year+ in hopes the price will rise and mass uncraters looking for unusuals.

Long story short, if you are just trying to clear inventory, you might just want to do 10 or 20 to a scrap. If you are looking to sell them for a profit, you are in for a long ride but can probably find a better price with time and effort. The big question is if getting an extra scrap out of the trade is worth an extra week+ of work.

Two reasons for this price.
1, Low drop rate like 1 of 10000 crates is salvaged
2, Price of items inside
Crate series #40 can drop only 5 strange items or unusual hat. Lowest price item is strange mantreads (4 keys) while most expensive is strange huntsman (20+ keys) and unusual hat is usualy even more expensive.
