I actually rather like the lyrics. There are quite worse things in some songs nowadays, and without the cover of a different language.

And I really like the top comment to that video. German band named after a Mongol singing about a city in Russia.
(Maybe it's historical irony. Mongols did what Germans couldn't. Or, at least, they made more progress before failing.)

As to the spoiler, I don't think so. There's hardly much of Santa Claus in the costumes. Father Frost/Ded Moroz, on the other hand...

I'm not quite sure how the song deserves to get a thread here but...
Well, as a German I might as well contribute with the other (yeah, there really are only two famous songs by Dschinghis Khan) which is... named Dschinghis Khan and talks about the adventures of said peron... or what crazy Germans think they were.
Also, it was Germany's entry in the 1979 Eurovision Song contest and came in 4th of 19.

As with Moskau... it might be better not to look up the lyrics. Unless you don't think much of the German people anyway. (We got better, I promise!)

What's wrong with the lyrics? They're fun, if a little bit silly, and the Russians, at least those I've shown the song, love it :-)

Although as far as (stereotypical) Russia is concerned, Rasputin takes the (poisoned) cake.

Yesss. This has been my favorite song ever since I first heard it, especially the extended version. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUbg0xGOdXA) And the lyrics are silly fun. Dschinghis Khan has made lots of good music besides Moskau and their eponymous ESC contribution, too, Rom, Samurai, Mexico, Puszta, Brennende Taiga, Aladin, and so many others...

I didn't know about Moskau until I got married -- my wife is from Kazakhstan, and it's an old favorite there, seemingly.

And yes, they do have another bunch of good songs, too. :smallsmile:
