View Full Version : Lucid Dreaming (3.0) to 3.5?

Is there any existing conversion of the Lucid Dreaming skill from 3.0 to 3.5? Preferably one that allows non-superficial stuff and less easy-assassination-ing? Double-preferably one that treats dreams as dreams rather than as unconscious mind-only Plane Shifts?

Homebrew is fine and unfortunately I think it'd probably be all there is for this. I'm making a base class that borrows a few of the less stalkery elements from this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13157506&postcount=3), but the Lucid Dreaming skill as is just doesn't really fit.

There's no official update to be found and the skill doesn't need to be updated anyway since 3.5 is backwards compatible with 3.0 material.

You're definitely going to have to go homebrew on this one.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. No idea of an existing homebrew of it? I already put in a request on the Request a Homebrew thread.

Sorry, I generally steer clear of homebrew. I've yet to find any concept I couldn't make work within the system as-is.

Unless practically everyone has it, which would be weird in most existing settings, it is a ridiculously broken skill.
Even then, it's so open ended that I steer clear of it.

It's actually kinda weird for anyone that's not a human paragon, factotum, or expert to have it since it doesn't appear on -any- class's skill list.

You did notice he mentioned Factotum in the very post you're quoting, right?

Maybe that's why humans dominate most fantasy worlds; they kill off the other races in their dreams.

Exemplars get it as a class skill, as well.

Yeah, but they're unusual just for existing. A PrC character of no less than 10th level isn't something most people see every day.

Hence my looking for a rework.

Well, to anybody who posted here who was looking for the same thing as me, I've now made my own rework.
You can find it here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260803).

Busted link. You need to remove one of the [http://]'s.

Fixed in the quote, mine leads nowhere.

I never used the Dream plane rules, why are they so broken?

Because you can slip into someone else's dream, drag him into the dream heart, and murder him in his sleep. The defenses against this are few and obscure.
