The next instant the figure is swinging cutting up with a kick one moment, and down with it's right elbow the next, shielding his exposes back with a backhand strike from his other arm, and allowing the left elbow to follow through as his right prepares for another blow

Hmm... DR and regen is usually described as either attacks bouncing off or wounds healing by themselves. (And he would start to 'bleed' from his spiritual wound...)
