Optimized Build Ideas

So a friend of mine is starting up a new campaign and has stressed it is going to be high power. I'm really lacking inspiration at the moment though so what I'd like is any thoughts for a fun powerful character I could play. Or high optimization characters anyone's played in the past to give me ideas. Thanks a lot.

Starting at level 12 but if ill take just a starting point or a build up to 20

Gonna need to give us more to go on. What type of character are you wanting to play? I typically come up with a character concept, and then tailor the actual stats to fit it. RP and optimization are not mutually exclusive.

Well, at level 14 you get the most borked part of being a planar shepherd, but you're still a full druid up till that point. If you can get stuff from Dragon Magazine and the Giant's (Rich himself) homebrew, you could play the super fey druid I love so much by being an unseelie fey magic-blooded lesser celadrin with the fey druid feat and being a sidhe scholar, going into planar shepherd of the faerie courts. Charisma pumped high and functioning as a casting stat, you make a kickass face while still being a druid with all that implies. I've got all the places if you want more info.
