View Full Version : Can't send PM's

I seem to be having some trouble with my Private Messaging system. Every one of my past Sent Messages is being tallied as my current number of messages, putting me at about 456. I keep trying to delete the contents of my Sent Items folder, but nothing happens.

You may want to click on the box at the top of the folder (like it is in most e-mail programs) and delete your messages that way. I know that the "empty folder" thing didn't work for me earlier.

I was a bit more selective in my deletions and wiped out sent messages one page at a time (although you may not want to go about things that way). I had no difficulty deleting messages in this manner.

Ah hah! Thanks for the tip. Back to having only single-digits' worth of PMs!

All of my PMs seem to have the same date on them. Doesn't bother me much, but I thought I'd throw out a heads-up all the same.

When I tried to send my very first PM on the forum, I got this error:

This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between sending private messages. Please try again in 3132992621 seconds.

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't want to wait almost 99 years before I can PM again!

Yea, iop, I got the same error. I figure they are working on it. :)

I was gonna PM this, but, seeing as that's not possible...

Mods:
Could we, do you think, re-sticky the Player Registry (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2532) and the Now Recruiting! threads? I couldn't find the latter floating around anywhere, apologies.

Just got the same error.

I have a general idea what's going on, but I can't fix it. I'm sure it'll get in the "to fix" queue.

Especially since, in my case at least, this date was in 1979, a year in which I was almost certainly not alive, and neitehr was this board.

You can't delete PM's with the empty folder button. Just wanted to point it out.

A thought: maybe it has something to do with the other PM bug ( that we have a huge pile of out box PMs and our 'PM box is full)

Perhaps just emptying them will help...maybe

Doubt things are that easy

Hah! My outbox is dated from the last day of 1969!

On a real note, I also have trouble using the empty all button. Also, slightly related since the dates are off, my corner thingy says I last visited in 1969.

I can't PM! Everything I post says:

I seem to have figured out what may be causing the strange PM issues.

Unable to delete by using "empty folder": This just isn't working, try clicking on check boxes and deleteing one page at a time, and do this for all your PMs, you may want to save them first though.

Unable to send PM's: Your PM box is most likley full. Delete all your messages and try again. Since it saves a copy to your sent folder you can't send PMs if you have 100 total in your folders. A user with very few PMs could send them just fine, so it is not a universal thing.

I got PMs from before I was born!: This was a forum wide bug, and shouldn't effect anything.

Hmm...I have deleted all of my PMs (was 154) and all my counters read 0 PMs total.

However, I just tried to send a PM and am getting the same error mentioned above. Maybe I should log out and relogin now that I've cleared my PMs...

...Nope, still doing it. Can't send any PM's so far. :(

Who are you sending them to? They might have a full inbox.

Hadn't thought of that, but I tried to send one to myself and got the same response.

I take it you are sending PM's without trouble?

No...I tried after I asked who you were sending to. My alt who I sent it to has no pm's in their inbox, and I on'y have three. No sent messages for either and it didn't work...

Must be something to do with something...

I'm not sure, but I think you've just about summed up the situation.

Nice work. ;)

Ah, 1979, I remember those days well. Big hair was in on avatars, and Roy was sporting a mighty +3 'Fro. Xykon was threatening the world from his disco ball phylactery, and Elan was jamming out to to the Reproductive Crossbows. Vaarsuvius was into the androgynous look, but it was some time before anyone noticed the change.

For what it's worth, I'm getting the -99 years until I can send a PM- message as well. My Message Box is well below the 100 message limit.

Yes, and if you look at the stickied threads, you'll find that this issue is being addressed there.

Now they're going to close this thread, with my memories of better days. Blast.
