Are there any Abberations that can be used as a PC?

Is this not that common, or am I crazy? I can't seem to find any that have insane amounts of la or racial hd. :smallfurious:

Aberrant Wildshape makes most of them playable.

I'm not sure they'll give you the aberration type, but there are a number of aberrant feats in Lords of Madness.

Illithids have LA +7, which means they are technically playable.

There are lots of aberrations in that range: Ethergaunts, Silithar, etc...

But if you're looking for lower level stuff, then yeah, Elan/Synad is your best bet.

Yeah, but don't forget you have to add their Hit Dice to get their ECL.

Don't forget "Insectile" from SS. LA +...2, IIRC.

There is Skum. 2 RHD and +3 LA is overpriced (but then again, what is not?), but not outrageously unplayable.
