How much would you like to wager?

Dreidel golems were originally invented by the modrons as part of the first line of defense of Regulus while the modrons go on their Great March. They were designed to keep adversaries from entering Regulus by entertaining them with a betting game. However, this proved to be more of an attraction for other races rather than a deterrent.

A dreidel golem has a squat cubed body made from clay. It has no apparent legs, but moves quickly on its thick arms and hands.

A dreidel golem is 2˝ feet tall and weighs 60 lbs.

A dreidel golem always asks the phrase, “how much would you like to wager?” in Modron and then Common. Anyone betting with the dreidel golem can earn up to 100 gold coins.

Dreidel golems begin combat by attack with their unarmed attack and slam or with their flurry of blows.

Bonus Feat: A dreidel golem monk has either Improved Grapple or Stunning Fist as a bonus feat.

Flurry of Blows (Ex): A dreidel golem monk may strike with a flurry of blows at the expense of accuracy. When doing so, it may make one extra attack in a round at its highest base attack bonus, but this attack takes a -2 penalty, as does each other attack made that round. This penalty applies for 1 round, so it also affects attacks of opportunity the monk might make before its next action. When using flurry of blows, a dreidel golem monk may attack only with unarmed strikes.

Immunity to Magic (Ex): A dreidel golem is immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance. In addition, certain spells and effects function differently against the creature, as noted below.

A soften earth and stone spell cast directly at dreidel golem slows it for 1 round and deals 1d8 points of damage.

Any magical attack against a dreidel golem that deals fire damage heals 1 point of damage for every 3 points of damage it would otherwise deal. If the amount of healing would cause the dreidel golem to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points. A dreidel golem gets no saving throw against magical attacks that deal fire damage.

Unarmed Strike: At 1st level, a dreidel golem monk gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. A dreidel golem monk’s attacks may be with knees, and feet. This means that a dreidel golem monk may even make unarmed strikes while making a slam attack. A dreidel golem monk may thus apply its full Strength bonus on damage rolls for all its unarmed strikes.

Usually a dreidel golem monk’s unarmed strikes deal lethal damage, but it can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on its attack roll. It has the same choice to deal lethal or nonlethal damage while grappling.

A dreidel golem monk’s unarmed strike is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enhance or improve either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.

Wager (Ex): A dreidel golem always wagers fairly. The wager is always set by the golem’s opponent up to a maximum of 100 gold pieces. Leaving a wager is a free action as long as all debts have been paid. An unpaid debt will result in the dreidel golem attacking until payment is secured or until it or its adversary is dead.

You can use an actual dreidel or 1d4. 1 = nun = no result; 2 = gimel = you get the entire pot; 3 = hei = player gets half the pot; 4 = shin = player puts more money in the pot. Alternatively, you flip two coins. Heads & Heads: Gain wagered amount. Tails & Tails: Lose wagered amount. Any other result: No effect. Cheating by mechanic or magical means immediately stops the wager and results in the dreidel golem attacking. A dreidel golem dies if it runs out of coins.

A dreidel golem’s body must be sculpted from a single block of clay weighing at least 100 pounds and filled with 500 gold coins. Creating the body requires a DC 15 Craft (sculpting) check or a DC 15 Craft (pottery) check.

CL 7th;Craft Construct, false life, lesser geas, suggestion creator must be at least 7th level. Cost 3,000 gp, Price 1,500 gp and 60 XP.

Heh heh heh.

It might be easier to use a d4 instead of flipping 2 coins. That way you can get all four dreidel results.

1 = nun = no result
2 = gimel = you get the entire pot
3 = hei = player gets half the pot (so, his money back)
4 = shin = player puts more money in the pot

That works too.
