Eben Area - 01.08.172 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14325379&postcount=1191)

The Plot so Far [Current to end of Map 3]
172AV M7 D17: Aramel Fielt recieves notice from Father Faramund that he is to deliver a set of religious works from the Losae monastary's library to the fledgling church in Eben, a small town to the south.
172AV M7 D18: The Losae monastary puts out a call for mercenaries looking for work.
172AV M7 D20: Having gathered a sizable group, Aramel departs for Eben. His journey is uneventful.
172AV M7 D30: Aramel arrives in Eben in the evening and is immediately accosted by a gang of strangely coordinated thieves on his way to the church. They take off with the satchel containing the church scriptures, but Imeena, an incognito Bercan noble travelling with the group, is able to quickly run them down and recover the documents.

Over the course of about an hour's, the group manages to fight its way to the church, where they are greeted by the local Chaplain, Linia Prisca. Having been attacked, Aramel and company are reluctant to deliver the scriptures. They decide to study the texts as Linia heads out to demand anwsers for the uncontested brigand incursion in Eben.

----------

Several hours later, night falls, and the street lanterns about the church suddenly gutter out. Moments later, armed thugs and mercenaries pour into the building and cut down the monks within. Aramel and company make a brief foray to the ground floor, rescuing who they can, even managing to convince one of the enemy mercenaries to defect to their side. Their work done, they retreat back up to the second floor and barracade themselves off.

After several hours holed up, Linia returns and is shocked by the attack's aftereffects. Nerves frayed and exhausted by the bloody ordeal, the group levels accusations of conspiracy against the Chaplain, whose own temper flares. The discussion quickly turns hostile and the group splits up; Aramel decides to remain in the Eben church while the rest of the group, now led by Imeena, decides to escape through the Old City.
172AV M8 D01: The group makes good time, an escape tunnel in the church's basement quickly bringing them to the Old City. Among the delapidated, ransacked, and weather beaten ruins that dot the area, a small Nalban temple is nearly buried by rubble.

The group soon encounters what seems to be scattered bandit forces, though they operate with more discipline and better tactics than the norm. While cutting their way through the scattered foes, they are found by Madeline, a Nalban priestess who claims to have come all the way from Berca because of a prophecy centered around Imeena.

Upon closer inspection, they find that these 'bandits' wear worn and tattered Eben military uniforms. Surprised, Imeena's forces hang back as the bandits congregate into , the two groups glaring at each other from stone's throw apart. In this time, a "famous" excavator, Riffock Gare, who has been paid to clear the buried temple's entrance. After reassurances from the group that he is in no danger from them, he happily goes to work.

Baldo arrives soon after, having been in the area and alerted by the sounds of fighting. He orders his men, along with the famous mercenary, Gunther 'the Meteor', to take the heads of both groups. United by this common foe, the two groups decide to temporarily team up and the leader of the 'bandits' introduces himself as Galer, former commander of Eben's 4th infantry division.

In the ensuing battle, Imeena's forces escape after slaying one of Gunther's companions. The mercenary swears revenge as they escape.

----------

The party wanders about the foothills surrounding the Old City, an area known to the locals as Trilni's Craw. They're quickly found by the group that they initially believed to be bandits and Galer informs the group that his group will be marching to retake Eben from the Redline mercenary company

Agreeing with his course of action, Imeena's group decides to check the newly unearthed Nalban Temple first for goods that might give them an edge in the coming conflict. Once inside, however, the shade of a nalban priestess appears, spouting warnings in an old bercan tongue. Ignoring the shade, the party manages to retrieve a staff of mending, though they are beset by spectres, who have possessed the discarded weaponry of the temple's departed guards.

Leaving the temple to the dead, the exhausted group camps in the Old City, taking a small reprieve before joining Galer.

From PMs
The Church of Osulia, Stance on Uprisings
The church is typically very hands off. While an important player, they're not so strong that they can be seen to be overtly taking actions against the established lords*.

As we know, Hiroth is a huge association of (more or less) individually ruled city states. Since lords don't like having their positions endangered, and as the sum of those lords' forces are greater than those of the church, they act as a balance to the church's agendas (just as the church checks individual lords').

While the church may disapprove of a local lord, they will almost never take unprovoked and direct actions against an established lord for fear of such actions being seen as 'trying to establish a precedent for the unprovoked usurpation of a lord'. On the other hand, local lords are usually careful about not offending the church, for fear of sliding into 'provoked' territory (and losing the other benefits that the church usually brings).

In the case of uprisings, the church will usually at least be seen to publically support the established lord.

The Church of Osulia, Charitable Works and Programmes

...they believe that they, as humans, must constantly seek to improve both themselves and humanity. As such, the church of Osulia is quite progressive and funds many centers of higher learning across the world. Many innovations, such as sub-irrigation (popular amongst coastal agricultural regions) and double-hulled boats stem from Osulian-funded universities. At heart, the church preaches a message of "progress as salvation".

Although that's popular fact, not every region will have such progressive tendencies. Generally, the more populous the area, the more 'progressive' (read: powerful) the church is. This is exacerbated by the presence of church-funded universities in the most major populated zones, making them intellectual hotbeds (sort of like how Vienna was for the arts).

As for social services, you'll find the expected orphanages, kitchens, hostels, and occasional charitable drives. Church libraries 'are' free for public visitation, though some areas may be restricted to the general public.

Otherwise, schooling is usually a private matter, varying widely from city to city*; one lord may publically fund schooling, which would then have an Osuli element inserted, while another may neglect it entirely. While they may disprove publically, the church tries not to antagonize lords (giving an impression of being 'too' overbearing) by independently setting up such programs.

This means that where there 'is' public education, it looks as though the church has played a part in setting it up (and they usually do unless specifically denied, providing funding, manpower, and knowledge) and when there isn't, the church is usually seen to take a disproving stance.

Relative to the other nations... the Church of Osulia operates in both Hiroth and Farin, so about the same there, though it looks more limited since the church doesn't have as much power/money to fund all of the things that they would in Hiroth. Compared to the Nalban church, Osuli churches are usually able to provide more public services during (relatively) peaceful times, but less so during wartime**.

*There are technically no rules on what a lord may or may not do in his own domain until it borders on heresy or sedation or disgusts their neighbors sufficiently to drive them to take up arms.

**Due to their integration with elements of Hirothi militaries. The Nalban church does not march to war and in fact has provisions which severely limit (if not outright block) the conscription of Nalban clergy. As such, they do not suffer the drains on manpower and funds during wartime like the Osuli church does.

The Church of Osulia, Church Knights
Militant ranks within the church and their military equivalents are:

{table]Rank| Equivalent Military Rank
Ordinate |Colonel
Chaplain |Captain to Lieutenant Colonel, depending on church influence
Vicar |Lieutenant+[/table]

As seen, senior command (brigadier+) is largely untouched by the church, as city-states tend to prefer to keep their own leadership.

Church knights are armed forces under the direct command of the church. They are largely either ‘donations’ from lords or ‘loans’, who, on return, receive a position equivalent to whatever they held within their order. Some church knights are independents who give or sell themselves to the church and become wholly a part of that order and yet others are reformed/repentant criminals. They usually do not hold any commanding ranks and are led by either the Church's internal command structure (including the military arm) or a commanding officer from the regular military (lieutenant+). Depending on the order that they represent, senior church knights can be assigned traditional military positions, up to the rank of captain.

Internally, church knights’ ranks mirror that of the traditional military to effect easier integration. Rankings are: private -> corporal -> sergeant -> sergeant major // officer cadet -> second lieutenant -> lieutenant -> captain.

There are specific orders of church knights that answer only to the church, drawing from its many regular orders. They are designated as Holy/Divine [Holy/Divine Knights], Temple [Knights Templar/Templarate], Astral [Astra Knights/Knights Astra], or Arc [Arc Knights/Knights of the Arc]. Examples would be: the Saint Dardail Holy Knights and the Lusse Templarate.

Finally, there exist church knights who have been especially empowered. They can hold any rank and own land and are unfettered by tradition and law. The church is usually tight lipped about the whereabouts and actions of these individuals, though rumor does tend to spread down the grapevine.

Socially, cavaliers are seen as soldiers on horses. Hiroth places no specific merit on them and Hirothi generals tend to spend their lives as easily as those of the ground-slogging infantry, something that is, admittedly, effective against the other two countries (who have difficulty wrapping their minds around tactics that spend ‘valuable’ resources in such a manner). Church knights from normal orders are seen in the same light as normal infantry/cavalry units.

Eben, More Detail
It's a not-quite-but-almost-border town that's just had its garrison deployed to the front lines. Because of this, Eben's lord, Calem, has employed a mercenary band, the Redline mercs, in order to maintain public order and safeguard the town. Osuli presence within Eben is rather limited as well, the church being a new addition*. With the regular garrison deployed (that's why no additional guards showed up during Map 1 and why the guard didn't come over at some point in Map 2), the chaplain actually has practically no integration with Eben's current military forces** - the Redline mercs have their own internal power structure separate from the church's. Although she would have some interaction with Eben's retained garrison, it would be pretty limited.

*I have construction starting within the last 10 years and just completing around a year and a half ago, following many delays stemming from the many times that the war has drawn able-bodied workers away from Eben. Chaplain Linia would have arrived a few months afterwards and would have spent most of her time setting up 'shop', playing politics with the local lord, holding sermons while waiting for another more qualified priest to arrive, and taking care of the acolytes. The works/scriptures that Aramel & co. were bringing were actually meant to go into the church's local library.

**This is pretty much why Linia's been making comments about the Redline mercs the whole time and why she didn't go out and help Aramel in M1 (gameplay asside). She, being the only Osuli military presence in Eben, is not willing to risk the fallout that'd occur by intruding into the Redline's jurisdiction. It's a bit of a spoiler, but she doesn't have much influence with lord Calem and is intelligent enough to see that if things come to conflict, she's not likely to receive support from him.

Back-story

Nina was born in a city very close to the capital of Hiroth to a merchant family. Like all of the children she was forced to pick a skill for her to learn at a young age. She was held enthrall by magic. So she was sent to the top magic school in the country.

It took forever for her to learn the simplest spell. She was so bad that the school seriously considered just sending her home, instead of wasting both their times. Then she had a breakthrough. Unlike every single one of her friends. The only verbal components she could work with were song lyrics. Her somatic components dance movements.

Eventually Nina's girlfriend was sent to the front-lines as part of a "package" meant to soothe the borderstates. Nina ran away from the school to protect and support her. She died within a month.

Nina starting wandering the borderlands. Although she does not know it she is looking for a charismatic leader to give her inspiration.

Personality

Nina is very cheerful and happy. She is almost always singing and even if she isn't she tends to talk in a sing-song voice. She prefers to cycle though songs when casting her magic, and only repeats song if she has run out of them.

Nina has issues standing still and is usually bouncing around slightly.

Backstory

“You want to know about me? Well… if my awesome sis hasn’t told you already we were born to a Bercan military family. Pa and Ma wanted us to become great leaders and strategists, but my sis loves magic and I find psychology and anatomy so much more interesting, though I do enjoy chess as well. I was sent to the same magical academy as my sister- have I mentioned how awesome she is?- where I got into all sorts of trouble for questioning beliefs in beings that may or may not exist.

Now of course we have graduated and are of marrying age and spirits forbid Ma has found a suitor for Tyra… and who gets to go fetch her? Me! How awesome is that? I get to go on an adventure… though I must confess this war is rather tyring and the smell of carrion it does lose its novelty… even for an anatomist such as myself”.

Personality

“I have a militant father and a very demanding mother. It wasn’t the best of combinations when growing up and now I have somewhat severe confidence and perfectionist issues… But I am very much an optimist and life does get better, like now that I get to find sis in a war to bring her back home! Did I mention that I also like to analyse personality types and tell everyone how they can improve themselves? Yeah, life’s great! I have so many friends. Though they all seem too busy to write to me these days.”

“Oh you find my lack of serious faith in divinity disturbing? Well there may or may not be divine beings. If any of them are benevolent like so many claim, why haven’t any intervened to stop this war. And no, don’t tell me that they sent you, that is you-as- a person who is trying to improve the situation and all kudos belong to you!... Magic sure is useful, however.”

Stuff he doesn’t know about

Mortimer doesn’t heal people in the traditional way. When he removes the wounds of someone he stores the negative energy within his being and it gradually dissipates over the course of a few days. Prolonged stress to this activity causes his personality to ‘slow down’ and even become depressed. However, when he gains the ability to use dark tomes he can expend this negative energy and the exact opposite can happen to his personality…

For spriters

He has the same skins and eyes as his sister. However, his bulkier and taller. I guess take Kents mug and change it to Lyra’s colour scheme, add curly hair if you can and stick it on top of densely robed torso the colours being primary: white and secondary: green. Thanks in advance!
----

Herpestidae, let me know if his 'character hook' is acceptable: looking for his sister because his parents have found a prospective partner.

Appearance + Background:
It's hard to get a bead on the man behind the name. While he has the long dark hair and lightly tanned complexion of a Bercan, and his robes are those of a man of the plains, what little is known of his life before he appeared on the scene are rumours at best. The young man himself, coy about the topic like it hardly even matters, appears at first glance to be just like any other rogue; hardly seen without a drink in his hand, with a scandalously attractive reputation amongst the well-to-do ladies in many cities, one wouldn't think that he was ever anything more than he seemed.

On the other hand, theories about the "Falcon" nickname abound; some say he's often seen with a falcon perched on his arm, from whence he would not say. Others say it stems from his uniquely acrobatic sword style, spectacular yet lethal. All anyone knows is, many are the challengers who have fallen before his blade; quick to react and swift on the attack, it is said that only on the battlefield can one truly glimpse the prodigious blade-talent which makes him one of the most dangerous swordfighters around.

Personality:
Having a flippant and sarcastic attitude towards most anything, Takehiro nevertheless has a surprisingly warm personality despite the things attributed to him. Happy to share a drink with friends, and especially prone to taking a shine to any pretty lady who crosses his path, one gets the impression that he is barely full-grown, still very much a boy at heart. Even when it comes down to a clash of blades, it still seems like the young man known as "Falcon" still takes joy in the challenge, happy to test himself against any opponent in his way. Why this is so, he would not tell.

-Background-Ever since the day she was born, Erinn has been either very lucky, or unlucky, depending on how one looks at it. Her first year or so of life were probably healthy and happy, but the events leading up to her discovery in a small, grassy field are unknown. A woman by the name of Alixa Tarynn found the bawling one year old laying in a field on the borders of Hiroth, abandoned. As she later tells Erinn, it was a shooting star that made her stop for a moment on her trek through the hills, and as she stopped, the sounds of a baby crying off in the distance, no longer overshadowed by the noise of moving through long grass, drew Alixa to the field where Erinn was. Lying next to the baby in the field was a small moonstone pendant with the name 'Erinn' etched into the back.

With her husband dead, no children, and no desire to rewed, Alixa took Erinn in as her own. As a retired Pegasus Knight of some skill, she had the means to support a child, and the time to do so. Erinn grew up well, helping her adoptive mother with picking herbs and making medicines for the small village they lived in. A bright, energetic, talented girl, Erinn picked up everything Alixa had to teach with ease, and as she grew older, Alixa began to teach Erinn some of the tricks of her former trade. It was mostly in the interests of teaching the girl some self-defense; she was growing up to become a pretty young woman, and it would not do for her to be defenseless in case someone decided to take advantage of her.

Erinn found the lessons a bit odd, and at first, she struggled to keep up. While it wasn't difficult for her to grasp it, she simply didn't have the strength to hold a lance. So Alixa crafted some wooden practice lances for the girl to use, and gradually increased their weight over time. Even with the practice lances, Erinn was clumsy at first, but showed great potential. Surprisingly, she grasped the art of riding with a lance faster than using the lance in the first place, and so, for her fifteenth birthday, Alixa decided to give Erinn an unexpected gift: the sky. Pulling some favors with her old colleagues, she acquired a young pegasus to serve as the girl's steed, rather than the work horses they had been using before. The pegasus was named Sky, perhaps her mother's idea of a joke, though Erinn was perfectly happy with the name. Together with Sky, she would fly through the hills, gathering herbs much as she had before. It was the best gift she had ever had, one that let her help out, one that let her learn more of her mother's old trade, and one that saved her life a year later.

Thanks to Sky, Erinn could go much farther out to gather herbs and still make it home in time for dinner, and as she was no longer a small child, and knew what to look for, she always went out on her own these days. And so, much like any other day, she set out to gather herbs in a distant field. But unlike usual, upon her return at sunset, she'd find the village aflame. It had been the victim of marauders, perhaps, or a raid by the bordering Farins. Whatever the cause, every villager, to the man, was dead. Alixa had died in her home, unable to even get to a weapon.

Heartbroken, Erinn spent the next day burying her adoptive mother. It was thanks to her good luck that she had been out of the village that day, that the attack had happened while she was gone, that the attackers hadn't lingered. It was thanks to her bad luck that the attack had happened at all, that there was nothing she could do to stop it, that she was all alone in the world. But if there was one thing Alixa had taught her, it was that giving up when things get rough was a one way road to nowhere. Taking her mother's lance and a small batch of medicine that wasn't looted or destroyed in the fire, Erinn set off, destination unknown. She didn't really know where to go or what to do next, and she had no desire for revenge. But perhaps, if she was lucky, if her stars were blessed, she could find whoever left her this pendant, whoever left her in that field all those years ago, and why. Or perhaps her lucky star would lead her elsewhere. At least she was lucky enough to have a skill useful in a time of war, and the talent to use it.

-Appearance-
Despite growing up on the borderlands of Hiroth, Erinn looks like anything but a typical Hirothi. Dark black hair almost to the middle of her back, when loose, which it often is, though she tends to have small braids tied all throughout. When flying, she tends to tie it back to keep it out of her eyes, though. Blue eyes and an easy smile peer out from under long bangs, and it's clear that Erinn is rather unused to battle simply from her general appearance; most mounted soldiers don't keep their hair so long, nor their bangs, after all.

Favoring mobility over protection, Erinn's armor is very light, simply comprised of a simple chain shirt and leathers. It's not as if she was prepared to go to war, after all. On her belt is a small pouch filled with various herbs for treating simple ailments, though she's not the herbalist her mother was. Her general overall appearance is an odd mix of villager and soldier, for no ordinary villager has a chain shirt, a pegasus, and a well-crafted lance, but then, most professional soldiers that plan to fight on the front-lines wear mostly leathers. Odder still, though, is the fine moonstone pendant worn on a thin steel chain around her neck. The pendant is clearly of fine craftsmanship, and is probably worth about as much as the village she came from at the very least.

-Personality-
Erinn is quite easy to get along with, provided that the person she's trying to get along with doesn't smell, has at least a semblance of manners, or at the very least, isn't out for her blood. It's rare to see her without some sort of a smile in casual conversation, and her active, energetic way of speaking tends to make her many friends. She's not shy, either, and she's usually willing to help someone in need if it doesn't put someone else in danger. Not that she shies away from dangerous situations herself; while she's not one to fly headlong into a deathtrap, she's no coward.

Perhaps her oddest trait is her belief in 'fate', 'luck', or 'destiny'. Erinn is happy to give even the greatest of successes to simply being lucky, at least in part, and likewise, the worst of failures can simply be put down to having 'bad luck'. Erinn strongly believes that no matter what happens, no matter what a person does, certain events will always occur in a person's lifetime. It's a person's actions in those events that decide whether they succeed or fail, but fate will always lead one to those events.

Personality & Appearance
At 5'5", about ~145 lbs Adele Solanas stands tall as some of the back-broken Hirothan sharecroppers she calls 'citizen'. Her own spartan physique sports a lance-arm pauldron, plate & hauberk, round shield and leather pants. Under her helm lie a round face, strong jaw, high and tight haircut and snub, oft-broken nose. Her cracked farmer's brow and sentinel's leather neck conform to pluperfect posture; Private Solanas wears her armor with a patriotic pride and fondness for the authority it vests her with. The eager Private performs her garrison duties without complaint and volunteers herself for the assignments other soldiers consider grueling or busy work.

Adele can be stubborn and devoted in an instant. The farm girl is naturally gruff and testy around strangers, but once they've proven they can take their lumps, she warms quickly. Adele is fiercely dedicated to "progress as salvation" and social justice as interpreted by the Church of Osulia. Adele practices her faith in-group and is disposed to judge others by the company they choose. Adelita is acutely protective of persons reminiscent of her younger siblings.

Background snippets
-Born and garrisoned in a Hiroth border state
-Fourth of seven children; five brothers and a younger sister
-Church of Osulia devotee
-"I grew up on a farm, y'know" baseborn, plain and tough
Behind the pennants and posters decorating the streets of Hiroth, especially its border states, lay worn cobblestones and a conflicted populace. A bravado of patriotism unifies the wide-eyed cadets drafted across the nation when they have nothing in common but their syncretic faith in Osulia. When Adele joined the corps she threw herself headfirst through the same courses and gauntlets her older brothers faced. But rather than inspire her peers, Adele found herself held in contempt by all but the company sergeant and chaplain. Stationed at basic, half of the cadets were not particularly thrilled to be out-fought, outperformed and out-shouted by a hayseed such as herself; and the other half begged for assignments to a new garrison so they wouldn't have to hail a female Private, First Class. Harassment and the naked violence Adele contended with in the training yard forced her to seek more isolated assignments. The once-paragon slunk into watch duties and commissary drudgery and out of everyone's way.

Background:
Reyn was born in the country of Hiroth and he lived his early life on the streets of his countries capital. Reyn was abandoned to the streets at the age of two, he would have almost certainly died out there but he was saved by an aged man of 57 named Garrek Herran, but to Reyn he would always be known as Granddad. Garrek raised Reyn as best he could but he had no place to call home and his only source of income was thieving. As a result of this Reyn had a very rough childhood but despite this Garrek was a good and kind guardian to him and Reyn soon began to see Garrek as his father. At the age of 7 despite not wanting to endanger his beloved son Garrek began teaching Reyn how to steal. Reyn was a quick learner and soon became able to steal from all but the most aware of people. However although Reyn was a talented thief Garrek taught him to never steal more than necessary so as to not attract unwanted attention.

Although it was tough living on the streets, Reyn was still pretty happy with his life but disaster struck when he was 12. Garrek who was now 67, had been battling with fever and sickness for a while and was close to dying. The sickness was fairly common but seeing a doctor or a medic was impossible, church’s would not heal him and they did not have enough money for a doctor. Time was getting short so Reyn took drastic measures. Without his Granddad's consent Reyn snuck into a noble's house and attempted to relieve them of enough gold to pay for Garrek's treatment. He took great care in staying silent and out of the way of the guards but there was one thing he did not expect another thief was also looting the building. At the sight of Reyn the thief panicked and in thinking that Reyn was the nobles son, attacked him, attempting to silence him before he could notify the guards. Reyn was more agile however and managed to avoid most attacks. In the heat of the moment Reyn managed to stab the other thief with the dagger he used for lock-picking. After he made the kill though, Reyn grew silent and just stared at the other man's body.

Soon guards arrived alerted by noises of the struggle but all they found was a small child standing over the body of a dead man. Reyn was unresponsive, his eyes glazed over, just staring off into thin air. The guards did not know what to do with him as Reyn did not respond to any questions, they eventually decided to take him to a nearby church for the night. Garrek found him at the church the next day and as soon as Reyn saw him the child burst into tears. After the incident Reyn vowed never to use a blade again so Garrek instead gave him his walking stick to use as a weapon. Garrek passed away only a year later.

After Garrek's death Reyn left the city for he now hated it, a city which would not spare any pity or help to a dying old man. Reyn soon arrived in a large town not too far away from the capital and he stayed there for a few months before leaving again. This soon became routine as he lived in, and soon left many towns that he visited. Reyn now travels the world, only stealing what he needs, with his only true possessions being the clothes on his back.

Personality:
Reyn is fairly cold towards others, probably because he has lived his entire life by himself. Reyn prefers to work by himself as befits a thief, although he does see the values of being in a team. He is also very calm and it takes a lot to make him lose his cool. Reyn does not care what others think of him and as such can sometimes be quite insulting although he does not make a habit of always being like that. Although it can take a while for Reyn to consider someone a friend once he has, he is immensely loyal to them. Reyn would do anything to help or save someone he considers a friend. This is because he does not want to fail anyone like he failed his granddad, his only friend.

Reyn is also something of a pacifist, although he is fine with fighting others and injuring them he draws the line at killing people, instead knocking them unconscious. Its not that he finds killing others morally reprehensible or that he does not see that in a war or battle murder can be necessary, he just won't kill another person. Reyn also hates using blades and daggers, instead he opts to use a lance. He uses a lance because it can be used like a cypress staff which is what he trained in using as a child.

Reyn has a large hatred of nobles as he sees them as underserving of their wealth and as being self obsessed. He also has a hatred for the concept of destiny because he thinks that destiny means that the poor were meant to be poor, the wealthy were meant to be wealthy and that the dead are meant to be dead.

Appearance:
Reyn has a wiry frame but he is somewhat lean and muscular. He has tanned skin, short brown hair and dark grey eyes which is something of an oddity. He wears a light grey cloak that has hints of white at the fringes. The rest of his attire has the same colour scheme.

^This.

Also, we've pretty much borked our Tactician rating, might as well at least go for completion.

...also, I'm really interested in the Remnants, and would prefer to do it before Lord. Lord is a plot map, there's going to be a plot map after it, which will also be [Hard]. Remnants is a [Sidequest] to improve the outcome of Map 4.
I'd rather wrap up our loose ends before advancing the plot.

I'm just kind of against doing two level 5 difficulty maps in a row. So basically my preference of doing The Reticent Lord first is a combination of seeing the merits of the 3 map blitz and a whole heap of latent paranoia considering the last map.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but you'll get (DP-wise):

+4 for Stora
+2 for Magne
+3 for Eben
+1 for bandits
+3 for Remnants

DP gained is usually half of the difficulty estimate rounded up/down based on how hard I expect it to actually be + # of new members + plot consideration.

Lots of DP.

Hello again everyone,

I thought that since we're on the eve of a new global turn game device, round of maps, and personal holiday seasons, we should clear the air and reaffirm the harmonious creative activity of our player base. I'm very pleased to be a part of this freesource. So much of the setting and player community is compelling to me, and I would like to thank everyone for contributing thus far.

With a cast of 12+ players and DM, a production like this can feel like a mob. But I'm really impressed by the stickwithitness of ya'll so far.

Madeline is very religious however, and she holds great reverence to the rituals and ceremony of Nalba. She often quotes passages as reassurances. By the way, her reverence for nature has given her a very good head for terrain and weather, and the little things like herbs and spices, or directions. Though she won't understand why others are annoyed she must carry out so many rituals, but she will try to patiently explain them.

Madeline is also trained at fortune telling, but maybe most people don't believe in them. She believes in the auguries however, and happily will help to prepare against bad fortune.

Being Ice nature, she doesn't get cold easily, and loves winter. But she doesn't like hot weather very much.

Background:
Born in a small border town of Berca and Farin, Madeline's mother died when she was young. Her father served in the military, so she was sent to the local temple, where she has been raised as a priestess in the church of Nalba. Though she often wrote letters to her father, more recently there has been no response, and so she fears she has lost her family. Continuing to serve the church, she ties prayers every day to the tree in her family's garden.

Madeline isn't content with this though. She grew up with stories from her father about the large world and the strange sights, and she hides that desire to see the world in her piety.

Perhaps the church will soon send her to serve at another temple, now that she has completed her training. Or she will take over duties at the local temple in her town. Perhaps she will even go on a journey, to hopefully find word about her father.
(How to be recruited? Of course can talk to GM about game time and location)

Backstory:
Lloyd began life living in the high mountain ranges of Farin, in a mining city situated near the border of the country. Life commenced normally as a boy for Lloyd, only changing into his teens. Here the stress from the deadlock began to increase city taxes and caused restrictions on the peoples rights. It did not take long until protests started, eventually turning into riots.

Lloyd was apart of these riots, as the oldest of his family he had to provide meals to his younger siblings; something made increasingly difficult by the local government. For a time, it seemed that the people's riots were influencing the government into loosening their control. Yet the pressures from the main center of Farin had forced the city’s council to enact a brutal takedown of the riot groups to keep the city functioning. Guards unsheathed their swords and marched down the streets. Those whose dared to oppose the guards were cut down, and the streets were dyed red by the blood of its own citizens. The people wept, (some even claim the guards did too) at the senseless massacre of life that took place.

He was forced to run, to abandon his family before he was arrested, and most likely executed. If he dared to stay, his family ran the risk of sharing a similar fate. So he ran and adopted the life of a vagrant.
Personality:
Lloyd is at best an isolated individual, he does not try to make acquaintances, and he keeps his own matters to himself. He kind-hearted in nature however, attempting to aid those he finds along his travels. If praise is lavished upon him, he merely shakes it off, downplaying it. While he is not the strongest, his skills at stealth and trickery tend to best his opponents. He has mixed feelings for his own country, at times furious by its policies to maintain control, but unable to completely hate his country for what it has done. For as many tragedies he sees in his travels, there is a sense of desperation to protect that scarce peace in Farin, even if it does mean harsh measures. He also shares the typical religiously neutral trait of Farin citizens, preferring not to concern himself with those matters.

Background:
Hugo was a former groundskeeper of an out-of-the-way Osulite shrine near an out-of-the-way village in Farin. He was married, for seven happy (yet childless) years with his wife, Magdeline. They lived a good, quiet life, and hoped to continue to do so. Alas, one day he had returned to his home, to find his wife slain by a roving band of wicked mercenaries. Overcome with anger, he spent his savings on a sword, and traveled out to find and avenge her killer, traveling over all the continent.

A decade has passed since he sought justice, and his search has been fruitless. Despairing, and wishing to return to his home and live out his life, he now travels back home.

Personality:
Being affiliated with an Osulite establishment has made Hugo a pious man. He always carries with him a replica of scriptures, and adheres to a strict religious lifestyle. He is soft-spoken, and humble, preferring not to speak up about himself, instead letting others be the measure of his worth. He also always holds up his oath, and stays true to his word.

Background:
To the north of Hiroth is the city-state of Korvant, held by the Talsin family. Although it is located in an area that is fairly rich, the city-state has been going into decline recently due to gathering disfavor with the Oselian Church. It eventually resulted in a scandal revealing the previous ruler of Korvant as a cultist. The new leader, Jarenth Talsin, was resolved to repair relations with the Church; he was thus advised to send one of his children to be raised by the Church as a sign of his faith to the Lord. He chose his youngest newborn, Fiona.

Growing up as both a student of faith and a noble's daughter, Fiona was always caught in between two worlds. It was not uncommon for her to be ostracized from her fellow priests-in-training as a blue-blood and a distant relative of a heretic. Meanwhile, even though she was a church girl, her family often had her visit home to teach her about her duties to the family and, even though she became very close to her twin sister Eliza, she was otherwise treated as a necessary nuisance by the rest of her family. Eventually, she decided that she had to choose one path for herself; she chose the Church over her noble life and threw herself into her studies.

Meanwhile, Fiona's father, Lord Jarenth, was watching the war in the south with a certain amount of concern. Seeing this, his advisers convinced him to lead a number of troops to reinforce the war effort. However, after his departure, many of his relatives, who had grown jealous of Lord Jarenth's increasing power, took actions to weaken his position in the courts by generating favor for themselves. One such measure was to generate alliances with the other nobles and this often meant arranged marriages.

As Lord Jarenth was not present to protect Fiona, she was offered as a wife to a rival noble without her consent. Under normal circumstances, the Church would oppose such measures, especially when the person in question was one of their own. However, the Church was given a large amount of money to look the other way. Feeling that she was betrayed by the Church, she left home on an excuse of pilgrimage for three reasons: to delay her impending situation, to inform her father of the situation back home, and to perhaps find a new home for her faith, free from the influence of corruption and nobility.

Personality:
Despite being a monk, Fiona is rather hot-tempered. She does manage to be rather polite and wise normally, but the threshold needed for to switch from happy to angry is much lower than it should be. Thankfully, she has trained herself into expressing her annoyances through sarcasm and childish pouting at the worst; things would be rather dangerous around her otherwise.

That said, Fiona is fiercely loyal and brutally honest. If she comes across something wrong, she has absolutely no qualms about helping people fix it, no matter what she needs to do. Part of this is her disillusionment with her family, who she feels betrayed her for a quick favor. Her grudge against them makes it so that she wants to do everything she can to avoid being like them.
Fiona is quite book-smart and often reads as her hobby. She also loves to collect stories; her idea of a great night is a bunch of travellers huddled around a campfire and boasting about their individual exploits.

Backstory:
Daughter of a cultist leader who took the name "Lightbringer," she is a member of the Renyu cult who specializes in dark magic. Unlike many other Renyu, she thinks that magic should be used only for helping people. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, as she has learned. Because she has been trained as a Renyu, she has a slight contempt for followers of the main religions.

Personality:
Paris is aloof and cold at most times. At least, to anyone who isn't her horse, Namek. She takes pride in helping people, but somehow she still seems to lack emotion. Or, at the very least, social skills. She doesn't make friends easily, and often scowls.
She has trouble with names, and is often poor in her attempts at diplomacy. She is distrustful of Osulians, and is on edge within the party. She turned her back on her cult, for unknown reasons (mostly unknown to me, as well).
She has found a friend in Nina, the only friend she has seen for years. She feels betrayed by Argoth, who swore to protect her, and failed to do so. It is hinted that this is not the first time such a thing has happened to her.

No man can outlast all the mistakes of his past, and just a glance at Oren is enough to know that he carries a heavy burden on his shoulders. But despite that, Oren works hard to find penance through duty, selling his blade and fierce loyalty to those who he finds worthy. Even though he is older than many that take to battle, his skill is undeniable. He is often found frowning, though by no more choice than someone breathes, it seems his lined face is nearly stuck in a perpetual frown.
History
Oren tells people little of his past, indicating that he is nothing more than a simple sell-sword with more than his share of scars. Perhaps if he found someone he could trust, he may be more forthcoming than he is to others.

Party is deploying to: [Big Trouble in Little Stora], [In Plain Sight], [The Reticent Lord]
Party is choosing to spend DP to: Extend [The Remnants] (3DP)?

Deployment as follows:
[05/07] - Big Trouble in Little Stora: Hugo, Nina
[04/07] - In Plain Sight: Roland, Paris, Falcon, Wotan
[06/11] - The Reticent Lord: Imeena, Adele, Argoth, Madeline, Oren, Lloyd

----------

Is this correct?

The think that's how things are looking, but I'm not 100% sure that's what's been decided for the DP.

If it helps, think of the first few turns as a tutorial to get used to the global-turn/DP system; I'm being rather lenient for now so you won't need to worry too much about DP management yet.

Stora

Fiona to Q8, attacks Guard #1.

Erinn to R10, attacks Guard #1 with Longspear, cantos to R7. (How much MOV does she have?)

Tyra to S7, cures Erinn with Heal Staff if Erinn has taken any damage.

Hugo to C19, combines both 1/3 Vulneraries into a 2/3 Vulnerary, uses a Torch.

Nina to B18. If Hugo's Torch reveals any enemies in range, pause update for change of plans.

How does this look?

Yeah, I think it was agreed that Hugo is solo in terms of reinforcements.

As for the plan, well, I presume the guards are already hostile, but most are out of range for us, so it's mostly a turn where we beat up the lone spearman and either wait or try and get out. Erinn or Fiona can one-round the guard (with Erinn taking damage due to having to use a longspear to do it, but Fiona being slower to get out due to lack of Canto and mov) Erinn should probably do it due to XP though.

The guard has a torch, 0 defense, and a weapon heavier than his CON. Erinn should double with the Longspear. I think. Would be nice to have Attack Speed on the stat block for weapons. Anyway, Fiona moves to [one space north and one space west from Erinn's start point] and attacks the guard. Fiona to R11, attack Guard 1

if Guard 1 alive, Erinn to R9, attack Guard 1 with Javelin

else, Erin to [Q13, scout around the corner, if enemy units within range, canto to R12]

Tyra to R10, trade Torch off of Fiona/Erinn, uses

Hugo to E23 (forest cover, 5 mov from H22; don't use torch yet)

How can we scout with Tyra's newfound torch? I imagine we plot a flight course, make an intra-move troop reveal, before landing on canto.

edit: edited in Herpestidae's directions. Cancelled Hugo's use of Torch for RP considerations (he's sneaking around the town already, so lighting a torch may just give him away :smallwink:)

Guys I was talking with Sairyu tonight, and something important for future map planning came up.

If you're getting a custom promotion, you need to complete your character's side plot. Just using an item only offers the standard list of promotions.

So far characters with a custom promotion I think are only Nina and Madeline. So their side-quests take priority.

Is anyone else getting a custom promotion?

Sairyu did say that things could change until he officially releases it, but he did give me permission to tell you what he told me.

I think there was some talk of Imeena going a sort of "Mounted Swordmaster" route instead of a Paladin route, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's a Lord promotion, so I imagine it'll be part of the main story.

Myrm->Assassin is a standard FE8 promotion, so I wouldn't think it'd be a problem.

It seems like it'll be a bit of a grey area with custom classes. Oren is basically a mix of Merc and Fighter, so I imagine him promoting Hero won't be an issue, but whether Paris' Summoner promotion counts as standard might be more open to interpretation.

GrassyGnoll

I believe that was an option for Marisa in Sacred Stones. Adele's Soldier -> Halberdier upgrade isn't strictly covered by GBA FE promotions and Lance Mastery as counterpoint to the Berserker/Swordmaster crit bonus is custom.

Halberdiers are a single-weapon class (no weapon gains) with a Pierce/Luna type mastery ability (a la Wyvern Knight, but (Skill%)). Because Sairyu doesn't want to include a skill-activation roller, I'm trading in Pierce for Lance Mastery (+5 Str effectively; vs. weapon-master 15 crit bonus).

Seeing as we're importing an FE9/10 class and fiddling with the abilities, I'd count it as 'custom'. Adele winds up with STR/SKL/DEF heavy caps, compared to the STR/SKL/SPD Berserker and SKL/SPD Swordmaster caps.

+5 STR/Mt vs. 30 SKL worth of crit

If we include a Lance Mastery skill, the Mt of Adele's attacks will spike drastically on promotion. Her damage output will immediately increase by over a third and overall by 20~ percent. It's a very consistent bonus at 5 damage a plink and considerable mid-game boost.

The Swordmaster/Berserker's crit chance bonus is a whole different kind of beast. Granting a 1/7~ chance to do x3 damage after mitigation, or an average 3/7 damage boost per attack after mitigation. The bonus is further pronounced in the double-attack inclined SPD fiend Swordmasters (Lance Master has a +10 flat damage cap, whereas a lucky Swordmaster can do up to x6 after mitigation). A crit bonus maximally benefits STR/SPD stacking attackers, and is most harshly countered by high DEF caps. Lance Mastery counters DEF directly, but does not stack like a multiplier.

They're two drastically different mechanics and facilitated play-styles. Halberdiers get an armor-busting attack just shy of a Warrior's might, whereas Swordmasters/Berserkers get a high risk, higher pay-off damage multiplier. All in all, it mirrors the 'boring, utilitarian spearfighter', 'blade bravado kensai' and 'HIT LIKE A TRAIN berserker' archetypes.

Just shy? You'll probably exceed it. Lances tend to fall at 1 lower might. So as long as Adele's Str cap is 26 you'll equal a 30 cap Axe (With slightly better accuracy) If it's any higher you end up exceeding it.

And about Swordmasters and Berserkers. Typically Swordmasters are supposed to have a somewhat tough time dealing damage to some units. And Berserkers in game have crap for skill and thus have issues hitting in the first place.

Also wouldn't the ideal Armor Piercer, be the wyvern knight skill Pierce, which ignores defenses?

Paladins don't have anything below a 25 either. Most of the balance comes from Growth% rather than caps. How many Halberdiers are actually going to hit all of those? Having the caps high is to allow for really oddball RNG cases.

For someone who probably doesn't know what the word 'gaslighting' means, you're really persistent. :smallannoyed:

Two other classes with a similar stat distribution are General(F)/Great Knight(F), give or take a couple STR/SKL/SPD points. Of course, General/Great Knight have at least one additional weapon skill, at least one unit-type each, and a move-canto instead. The Halberdier has a sum total of 132 allowed stats, the same as the Warrior class (minus an indirect weapon), with a greater multi-attribute dependency. Compare that to a 131 (Great Knight(F)) or 135 (General(F)). A Swordmaster's cap of 128 (+30 SKL worth of crit) or a Berserker's 131 (+30 SKL crit bonus).

Were you spooked by the RES cap Adele will never hit, or the SKL cap Adele won't hit either? The only difference in the case of the weaponmaster classes is one untyped STR bonus in place of an untyped SKL bonus. Let's consider our Summoner-to-be's custom class: the Valkyrie/Summoner. Transplanting a Summoner's stat caps onto a Valkyrie character would be a buff to Mag/Skl/Spd caps. All for 4 points in DEF she'll never cap. That's before we even explore the bazillion tricks you can pull off with canto/summon and a skill cap of 126 (Valkyrie). Or two less stat caps than your standard summoner (128), plus canto. If we're hybridizing cavalry and summoners, note that Mage Knight's 124 stat cap is six lower than the weapon-identical Sage class.

I really don't understand arguments such as these on a pbp.

It will be real life years before they're relevant and only on the remote possibility that we will come anywhere near hitting level 20 once we have promoted. [or you know the game may never finish. Not meant as an offense, just as a simple fact that it is rare for a pbp to reach its conclusion]

I think it would be better if we saved our argument reserves for strategy and role play.

You know, with all this talk about PbP FE games taking years to complete (if they even do), it does make me wonder if it's possible to code a kind of browser-based FE simulator which will handle everything for the GM, from tile making to sprite creation to dice-rolling, etc. etc.

Someone coded a thing to run a Witchhunt game (over on the werewolf side of the forum, the other place where I go on gitp) but I guess the overall result was that it didn't go over well. The players were constantly bickering, and with no real DM to help, it turned into something much more personal than the fun game it was supposed to be. (One of the players left the forum, more or less as a result of said game, and hasn't returned)

And with that kind of result, I would hate to see a Forum Emblem game tried in the same way. The major difference between them is that a Werewolf game takes maybe a couple months while a Forum Emblem game is basically a lifetime investment.

I think I saw the works on engine that would do that if you wanted to do rom hacks...

Adele's not a cap-screwed character, she's an ability-screwed one :smallwink: (like a Swordmaster/Berserk with no terrain walking)

Point-taken though. I'm litigating over a mechanic of play that won't kick in for years. I was a bit incredulous that I'd have to defend a position outlined months ago. It's not like the party remembered the promo discussion we had leading up to this in the last OOC :smalltongue:

edit: My crabby disposition is mostly due to the nature of firm-to-firm warfare via gaslighting which pits legal aides in reading comprehension wars of review to alternatively stymie or field the others' distracting motions. I don't have a lot of patience for off-duty interpellation, but that doesn't excuse my tone.

Okay, initial plan.

Paris moves to C20, visits and cantos to E21

Falcon moves to G23

Wotan moves to F23.

I figure Roland's the best choice to make a run for the east village.

Wotan to C20, visit (5 mov)

Paris to C21, rescue Wotan, canto to G21 (poised to visit L19 in one turn)

Roland to G22, take and deposit Wotan at H22 (closer to 'Gate' or door at T20)

Falcon to G23 (support with Roland)

Yeah, I'll go with Grassy's plan.

Also, since the IC post mentions resting for the night, I take it that the times at which the various battles are occurring are offset somewhat. Mind telling us the time on each map, ie what time of night it is on the Stora, what time the following day is it in Magne, and what will the in-game time be at the start of "Reticent Lord"?

I'll throw in for Illven here. No idea where the enemies are going to be coming from or when, so getting to the houses now might be for the best. We are aiming to complete the maps swiftly, yes, but that also means we probably won't have the time to circle back if we pass up the houses now.

Current date is: 01/08/172 (dd/mm/yyy) - afternoon (~2 or 3pm)

The Reticent Lord occurs on: 01/08/172 - nighttime (~7 pm)

Magne date is: 02/08/172 - just before noon, ~10 or 11am)

Stora date is: 03/08/172 - nighttime

So since it's the holiday season, I decided to give you all gifts.

The gifts of a stat sheet.

Which I'll do two per day until I'm done. Right now here's Imeena and Nina.

Three things to note 1 The face sprite quality won't be as good. What I use for the sheets needs gif's, not pngs.

2 I just assumed we were all getting our support bonuses.

3 The accuracy listed here will be slightly lower. Fe 8 only takes half your luck, Sairyu uses it all for accuracy.

So, Lloyd's darksight only *sorta* works?

In Sairyu's game Cover blocks Fog of war seeing.

Plan.

Allies move before enemies right? If so.

Nina moves to S21 and attacks Soldier 4 with Fire for a 97% chance to deal 14 points of damage.

Imeena moves to R21 and attacks Soldier 4 with Iron sword for a 92% chance to kill.

Linia moves to S22 and attacks Soldier 5 with Lighting for 17 points of damage twice.

Galer moves to R18 and attacks Soldier 1 with Iron lance for an 85% chance to deal 9 points of damage. (Soldier 1 counter-attacks for a 71% chance to deal 3 points of damage)

Oren moves to R19 and attacks Soldier 2 with a 94% chance to deal 14 points of damage twice. (Soldier 2 counter-attacks for a 53% chance to deal 3 points of damage)

Argoth moves to R20 and attacks Soldier 3 with a 74% chance to deal 11 points of damage. (Soldier 3 counter-attacks for nothing)

Adele moves to R23 and attacks Soldier 6 with Iron lance for a 81% chance to deal 9 points of damage (Soldier 6 counter-attacks for a 75% chance to deal 4 points of damage)

Madeline moves to S19 and heals Oren.

(As long as everyone slated to kill hits. So Oren, and Nina and Imeena twice between them) Everyone attacking Adele would be a worse case scenario and still leave her with 2 Hp (4+4+6+3+5=22 points of damage)

So stop the update if Imeena, and Nina miss twice between them, or Oren misses.

I foresee a great mess coming up in the IC thread as we attempt to handle three separate story threads all at once.

I think we should make a point of indicating the location of our PCs before every post we make from this point. For example, I would put "Magne" before each Falcon post, Hydranova might put "Stora" before each Hugo post, and Illven would put "Eben" before each Nina post, just as examples.

This is why we don't get nice things. My gut says just to do stabbing action, despite the fact a 95% chance to hit is more like a 50% in this game. Lloyd needs that guard's uniform for possibly interesting RP. I wish there was some way to minimize this tiny chance for error though.

Well, Sairyu, how could you blame him? Is Falcon not indistiguinshible from Count Pallazo Takehiro VI of Elbnarl?

Or is that a completely different Takehiro.

Hugo to G22, attack H22 tile with Iron Sword

Fiona to T13, attack Thug 1

Tyra to S8 (sweep R1 -> T1 with torch, set up for move to R2)

Erinn to Q13 (outside of Archer 1 range, can survive WCS of Shaman + Thug attack)

Erinn to P15, attack Shaman 1 with Javelin, canto to O13 (outside of Thug 1's range)

If we're prioritizing XP over item durability, we could have Tyra heal Erinn right after her battle with the shaman. Fiona will probably one-round nuke the thug (double attack the thug) and then end up tanking the archer and one-rounding him too, so she'll probably need healing next round and Erinn's position isn't as important. Might as well get what healing we can get done right now (even if it is a piddly 4 damage).

Now that all three maps are up could you show the update schedule for each one? I'd like to know what the cycle of days is going to be.

Sairyu
2012-12-18, 10:04 PM
Starting this week and resuming after the Christmas hiatus:

[Big Trouble in Little Stora!] will update on Tuesdays and Fridays
[In Plain Sight] will update on Fridays and Tuesdays
[The Reticent Lord] will update on Sundays

Edit: That means a double update this Friday and then every subsequent Tuesday/Friday when I'm actively updating.

Edit: Alternatively, I can update [The Reticent Lord] twice a week (Sunday/Wendesday) and the other maps once a week (each) on Tuesday/Friday.

Actually, can we play it by ear? I'd like all the maps to end at about the same time, so there aren't people stuck twiddling their thumbs while the rest of us finish up.

If we want them to end at the same time, we can probably start with updating Reticent Lord twice per week and the others only once. If the difficulty level is any evidence, Reticent Lord will probably be the longest map.

mm. When this 3-map thing started, I was under the impression we'd be updating on an A,B,A,C,A,B,A,C schedual, three updates a week.
Of course, when one map finishes, we change the update schedual to A,B,A,B.

Turn II
Player Phase
Nina attacks Soldier #4
Nina lands a critical hit for 48 damage! Soldier #4 dies! Nina gains 34EXP.

Imeena attacks Soldier #5
Imeena deals 12 damage. Soldier #5 retaliates: hits; deals 4 damage. Imeena attacks again: hits; deals 12 damage. Imeena gains 7EXP.

Adele attacks Soldier #5
Adele deals 9 damage – Soldier #5 dies! Adele gains 42EXP.

Oren attacks Soldier #2
Oren misses. Soldier #2 retaliates: misses. Oren attacks again: hits; deals 14 damage. Argoth reaches C Proficiency with Axes. Oren gains 10EXP.

Argoth attacks Soldier #3
Argoth deals 11 damage. Soldier #2 retaliates: hits; deals no damage!

I moved Imeena a bit because it's not a big deal. Oren missed too, but there's really not much you can do about it at that point.

I also need a move for Lloyd before updating tonight (I'm going to be out for a while first though).

Can Imeena canto back though, so she can wall for Nina?

And Linia can attack Soldier 6 then?

Madeline waits next to Oren then.

Lloyd probably has to attack because the Soldier will just shout out for help on it's turn. If Lloyd can use pillars go to R34, if not S33, either way attack.

What do you think?

Plan time.

Argoth moves up to Q20 and waits.

Madeline moves up to R20 and heals Imeena with her heal staff.

Imeena moves to Q21 and uses door key.

(Stop the update if Imeena's action reveals any enemies.)

Nina moves to R21

Oren moves to S20

Adele moves to S21 (I figure they both have Anima affinity so might as well grind supports)

Lloyd moves to Q35, and "uses the Soldier disguise"/opens the door.

How are intra-turn LoS reveals handled?

Madeline to Q21, casts Heal on Imeena

Imeena to Q20, use gate key [reveal], canto to P22 (block hallway)

Argoth to O19 [reveal] (block hallway)

Oren to N20 (block center room)

Adele to N21 (block center room)

[reveal]

Nina

Galer

Linia

??

Profit!

edit:

Lloyd to Q32, don Soldier uniform (peek around P31)

**Adele to P20

Oren to P21**

I'd rather breach a door than shy from it. With Galer and Argoth acting as main tanks, and Adele/Oren on support, we should be advancing at our own leisurely pace. We have to consider special precautions for Lloyd though, because we don't know the properties of "Soldier's Uniform" or whether Lloyd has clearance to the room he's about to open.

I'd rather take the Lloyd operation slow and the front door swiftly.

edit: post-reveal, the biggest contigency I would be concerned with is the Galer-Argoth-Oren-Adele formation at O20/P21, depending on what guards are bearing what weapons and how our three lances and an axe can handle it. I don't want to add Imeena to the front line out of fear that something~ like 3 guards flinging themselves to death on her sword in one turn~ might happen again. :smalltongue: A necessary sacrifice to move the scene along

Well I was hoping if we went with your plan, Nina could stay with Imeena to rack up support points. So if we go with your plan I'd rather Adele and Oren take the N column.

(Also Imeena would be on O22, just to be clear.)

About Lloyd's uniform (I asked Sairyu for the rules)

If a guard sees him wearing it I roll to see if they just pass it over
[12:55:43 AM] viasolaris: Or if he's on a patrol path they automatically pass it over

GrassyGnoll

So wait

Madeline to Q21, casts Heal on Imeena

Imeena to Q20, use gate key [reveal], canto to O22 (block hallway)

Argoth to O19 [reveal] (block hallway)

That's the first part of the plan right? And then depending on what we see Adele and Oren take up either N20, and N21 or P20 and P21. If they take the N row, Nina might take up O21, while we wait for Galer and Linia to reinforce?

Is that correct?
