I've been looking through the lists of Cleric domains for good domains for my mystic theurge, and nothing really stands out as particularly good. Spell & Planning have decent granted powers, but less than stellar spells, and I wonder if I need a Spellcraft of 20+ at lvl 8.

MT probably will be interested in powers more than in spells. Because you get spells from the arcane side  What do you want to do? You could get CL bonuses, feats, rerolls...

What theurge do you want to play (Wizard 2/Archivist 1/Mystic Theurge 10)?

Use Archivist (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20051007a&page=3) instead of Cleric if you're combining it with Wizard for a Mystic Theurge.

In addition to making you Int-focused, this has the added advantage of letting you learn and prepare as many domain spells as you want.

Thanks for the support.

It is an illumian Wiz 2, Cleric 1, MT 10

I like the domain powers the cleric gives me, and while it is somewhat MAD I rolled well enough not to worry.

But yeah, question is which domains have decent spells that aren't available to wizards or clerics straight up?

Go to this page (http://www.imarvintpa.com/dndlive/FindSpell.php) choose "In none of those classes" (Cleric and Sor/Wiz) and "The spell appears on" (Domain) you'll get a long list of non-Sor/Wiz non-Cleric domain spells.

Wait, I get how you can start with less than three Wizard levels (Precocious Apprentice and some others), but how do you do that for Archivist?

For domain powers there are a number of good ones, that may or may not suit you.

Travel, knowledge, and luck are all solid choices, as are planning, celerity, undeath. But in the end it's what you want to do that matters. Going cloistered cleric grants you the Knowledge domain, +2 more, which seems a solid choice for you.

Sanctum Spell lets you fulfill the "can cast 2nd level divine and arcane spells requirement" as Wizard 1/Archivist 1

But you need another level to get skills.

As does being illumian with an improved Krau Sigil, or preccocious apprentice + alternate spell source + a CL bumper on the divine side, or any of several other ways. Not particularly hard nor a particularly disadvantageous feat selection.

Doing the cloistered route, as for the domains... I think I might be wanting to have my cake and eat it too: I like Planning's power but dislike the spell loadout (Status as a 4th level spell?!) and it seems to be the case that so far as I can tell sweet spells have less than awesome powers and viceversa. Good design I guess, but maddening. On that note: Why are almost all the deity-of-magic domains all but identical?

List if all the domains here (http://home.comcast.net/~ftm3/ASMoNM/domains.html).
