So two basic questions

1.How do you play a "honest" planar Shepherd, without breaking the bank or the DM.

IE> Suggestions that say, Don't play will be reported :P

2. While I have noticed some rather odd ball threads dealing with the topic.

How exactly is planar bubble useful? It is a 20 ft hole that you have to stay focused on.

*edit* I saw the 10 turns per round dream realm bit, so this question is impartially answered, although still under the "honest" title on usage suggestions.

There are lots of other nice uses. Planar Bubble lasts for 1 round/level after you concentrate, so enough time to get some use out of it without spending standard actions (plus, Swift Concentration skill trick!). Lots of planes will put metamagic on certain types of spells for free, and a variety of planes (Plane of Fire) are blasting/BFC in their own right.

Don't attune yourself to a plane with a wonky Time trait. That covers like 90% of the really bad Planar Shepherd abuses. (The remaining 10% involve the expanded Wildshape options, and those don't let you do anything that you can't get from any other caster once Shapechange becomes an option, although Planar Shepherd does get you there a few levels faster.) You'll still be stronger than anything besides another well-managed Tier 1, because you're playing Druid+, but you'll be within the intended strength of the class.

If i Chose a postive plane, and did a planar bubble right on a lich or something. Would it do much, or just shrug it off?

There are no problems, if you want to "tone down" a broken class (while still remaining very strong). It's sufficient to avoid the most powerful choices in your spell selection and planar traits abuses. You'll see it during the play sessions.

Alternatively, you can play a PS at full (or almost full) power, in an High Op group, with a DM worth its salt.

What about a little homebrew discussion with DM. Planar shepherd with wacky time trait. However, only usable for 'free cure x spells' only. Like planar bubble to get 10 free mass cure lights.
