In a current game, my DM has graciously allowed me to play a Planar Shepard on the terms that I not choose a plane with a crazy time trait. And as such, I have chosen to attune myself to the plane of shadows. The character is a dragonwrought kobold, not venerable, being wrought of a shadow dragon.

In his backstory, he was raised by said shadow dragon. The shadow dragon was killed, and now it is his duty to get revenge on those to slew his master.

My group in general is pretty light-hearted. So I thought that some shadow quotes were in order.

I'll begin with one of my own:

To a Cleric of Pelor, in passing "I can't believe all of those shadows in the last town."

"What evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!"

...Is this a reference to something? I'm sorry, I don't get it.

"No light is too bright to cast a shadow."

"In the desert, shade is more valuable than sunlight."

It's from an old radio show, here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shadow) the Wikipedia article.

Also, "The Shadow? The Shadow! The Shadow." Obviously from a different source.

Though this is super cheesy in the non optimization way

Where there is light.. there is shadow

Do you know the old adage about dawn? It seems it's just before dawn now... (I can't think of a smoother way to say this, I don't mind if someone has something better)

Can't stop the night!

Come now, you aren't afraid of the dark, are you? (or "I'll give you a reason to be afraid of the dark!")

Better check under the bed, here comes the boogeyman. (or "Should have listened to your child self, the boogeyman is real")

"You're not afraid of the dark, are you? The light...hurts my eyes."

The brightest light casts the greatest shadow

The Blackest Night falls from the skies, The darkness grows as all light dies, We crave your hearts and your demise, By my black hand, the dead shall rise!

Shadow hide me, silence shield me, and through light my foes revealed.

From Nodwick, for those of a more piratical bent:

"We are the shadow that comes in the night ... and says Arrrr!"

"Dark is the night, cold is the ground."
("Knight?")

"The sun is shining... but the ice is slippery."

"We will fight in the shade!"

"Didn't see that comming, did you?"

(Insult) "Your wit shines like my cloak."

(Conan quote, in response to his being questioned about the gods) "I would not tread on their shadow."

"I wear my sunglasses at night."

"I wear my sunglasses at night."

I think it would be better as "I'm so cool I wear my sunglasses at night. Indoors."

"They say the greater a man, the larger a shadow he casts. The world is my shadow."

"You can exist in my shadows, or not at all. Your choice."

"The more you light up an area to protect yourself from the dark, the stronger the shadows become. I AM those shadows."

"I am a Shadow. The True Self." (will work best if someone in your group gets the reference)

"Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see."

"A little man often casts a long shadow."

*Groans* Good lord man, that's awful!

:smallbiggrin:I had to!.

Also:
when you are following someone. you can shadow him.

If you are level drained, or are exhausted. You are a shadow of yourself.

I think it would be better as "I'm so cool I wear my sunglasses at night. Indoors."

"These sunglasses sure make it difficult to see in the dark, but I refuse to take them off because I'm an American and Americans always wear sunglasses. Now it's time for my favorite Shakespeare quote. Alas, poor Yorick, I knew him, in America!"

Suteinu

Alas, New Yorick? You knew him? Well ...

have to say I'm enjoying this dark comedy. Wookie Ranger could take this up as a night job.

All my friends play Awful good, one even played a Paladin, although I convinced him to sell his soul to Vecna. They say I'm chaotic sneaky.

"I am a Shadow. The True Self." (will work best if someone in your group gets the reference)

Ooh, excellent suggestion.

"This [place] has been connected. Tied to the darkness. Soon to be completely eclipsed." (When being overly destructive, of course)

Escaping a shadow? Running to the light only makes me sharper. *brandish blades.*

To a cleric of a good faith (preferably one that uses light thematically and mechanically - Pelor comes to mind, as does Heironeous)

"Do you not see, father? You pave a path of light for them to walk, yet the brighter your radiance upon them, the starker the shadow. And it is there where I am. Tugging at them from the dark. Shields to my goal. You have done admirably well, priest. You have blinded them with your faith. Now let me guide them in obscurity."

Something by Clark Ashton Smith

We have seen fair colors
That dwell not in the light—
Intenser gold and iris
Occult and recondite;
We have seen the black suns
Pouring forth the night.
