View Full Version : How much would a mech suit cost?

Hey there everybody,

I'm trying to join a game with a rather strange character: a gnome who was bullied about his size and thus created a mech suit (plays as a warforged) to compensate for the fact that he's vertically challenged as well as rather weak. The DM of the game I'm trying to join agrees in principle, but is concerned about the cost of the suit (since, technically, I'm playing two characters: a warforged and a gnome). Therefore the question has risen how much such a suit would cost. Keep in mind that I'd probably give my "warforged" the adamantium body feat at first level (reducing his speed to 20ft but giving him +8 armor, just like full plate).

I'd say that if this this level of silliness is aloud pure fiat handwaving is the only way to go. Just don't worry about it. Hold the character to a single point buy and have the gnomes skills only be what the class you want for the warforged suit to be allows, never get out of the suit and have the suit potect him from things warforged are immune to.

Fatal Flaw: If the suit is destroyed he dies. If the PC stays dead it can be looted for scrap if he's raised the suit just needs a fw repair spells.

Alternatively, Synthesist Summoner with a homebrewed evolution for construct traits maybe make it free as an alternative favored class bonus for gnome.

it costs a feat. leadership gets your warforged as a cohort.

That's.... wow, how did that not cross my mind? Yeah, a Warforged Cohort would be a Leadership thing.

this (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cw/20070212a) is exactly what you're looking for.

note: there is a typo when it talks about crafting your own, they've written 18k when it's actually 13k.

That entirely depends. A mech suit could be almost anything. How about, as a base, a suit of full-plate armour with a permanent enlarge person on it? Or the psionic power version, which goes up more size categories.

8000 gold for the magic effect.

D20 Future, which is part of the SRD, has statistics and rules for mechs (http://www.d20resources.com/future.d20.srd/mecha/). Basically, they are damage soaks if I recall.
Here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20061020a)is an official table for converting purchase DC into gold pieces.

This is Pathfinder, but they have rules for it. The listed cost there is 35,000.

If it's pathfinder, go for a synthesist summoner and fluff it that the spirit around you is a "mech suit".

If it's D&D 3.5, be an artificer and you can make all sorts of cookey crap like mech suits...or an army of them...:smallwink:

Very similar to the d20 future version in that they provide some AC and are a damage soak by the looks of it.

Alternatively, the PF psionics Aegis can get size increases and can easily be played as a mech suit.

You might want to take a look at the Golem Armor (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/magicItems/artifacts.htm#golemArmor).
