I am about to be joining a game where their will not be a lot of fighting and I was thinking of trying something new to me. A spellcaster, or more to the point a tier 1 spellcaster. I was thinking of using the illusionist variant from UA and using that as my base. Thi was my idea for the end result or the build

Illusionist 1/ Human Paragon 3/ Master specialist 10/ Shadow adept 6

My two banned schools would be evocation and necromancy as this would be a social game. My feat choices would be all about getting my DCs higher and bonus spells from spellcasting prodigy. Dose this look like a good build?

Thank you for all your imput.

You could use Fatespinner to increase DCs once a day.

I suggest going for a silver-brow human. They have an awesome feat combo.

Snowcasting (Frostburn)/ Eschew Materials (PHB)/Draconic Aura (Energy, Cold)-Basically it allows you to paste the DCs from your Draconic aura onto all your spells...since they are now considered cold type spells. It will net you at level 20 a pulss for to all your DCs.

Then take Cold Focus and Greater Cold focus to increase it even higher. Spell focus for ALL the schools.

Other then that I suggest Shadow Weave Magic.

I am not seeing snow casting in Frostburn.. As for shadow weave magic it is a prereq fro shadow adept and nets me 3 free feats.

I am not seeing snow casting in Frostburn.

Page fifty. The feats Shape Soulmeld: Illusion Veil (Magic of Incarnum) and Mastery of Dreams (Player's Guide to Eberron) also pump your Illusion DCs without the "add a component but eschew to use it" (it is polite to warn your DM before you pull something like that).

At what level will you be playing? If you start from level one, the delay in getting second level spells is going to hurt, though less so if you just jump in at twentieth level. If you are just using Human Paragon for the skills, consider Able Learner (Races of Destiny). I might rearrange your build to put some Shadow Adept earlier - after Master Specialist 4, perhaps (starting at ECL eight).

Starting level is 1. And I was more going human paragon for a grand total of +3 to intelligence at level 4. (+2 from human paragon, +1 from level) Plus a bonus feat to boot.

Magic of Incarnum i do not own, need to get though. And I agree the delay will hurt. Especially in an all tier 1 game, but that is why I am trying to make my Dcs strong right out the bat and get as many spells as possible. Took Spellcasting prodigy for a +2 to int when determining bonus spells will hopefully by level 4 put me on par with the others. I know their is one beguiler. And I believe the other is a druid going geomancer.

Beguiler isn't tier 1.

So after looking at your suggestions this is what I have gotten for ideas for feats

Feats looking into
Snowcasting
Frostfell Prodigy
Frozen Magic
Eschew Materials
Draconic aura
Cold focus
Greater cold focus
Mastery of dreams
Spell focus illusion
GSF Illusion

I am going to ask the GM now if the area I come from is cold because if not I can wipe half of those off of my list. Dose Frostfell Prodigy and spellcasting prodigy stack? Thus granting me a +4 bonus to int for bonus spells on a normal day, and +6 on a really cold day?
