What is the ECL of the elementals in the monster manual? I can't find it anywhere. Please help.

The elementals are not playable, and thus have no ECL.

wasn't there a monster class for one of the small elementals in Savage Speices?

They have an int higher than 4, thus can be npcs.

Yeah, you could be an Air Elemental, but SS is a 3.0 book that uses 3.0 monsters, so it has a good chance of having different statistics from the 3.5 Air Elemental.

NPCs don't have an ECL, they have a CR. Only player characters have an ECL. Nothing is stopping you from having NPCs with intelligence below 4, either.

Ah thanks. Found one for all 4.

Replying to flickerdart, thank you. I'd received misleading information elsewhere. Also, checking stat differences.

You can find ECLs of all the Core Elementals in Dragon Magazine #293.

You can find ECLs of all the Core Elementals in Dragon Magazine #293.

It refers to 3.0 elementals, considering it's an issue printed before Dr 310.

So? Still better than no ECLs at all.

It's still potentially important information.

Of course, check DMG p4, for the following statement: "This revision is compatible with existing products, and these products can be used with the revision with only minor adjustments."

The exact adjustments, if any, would have to be determined by the DM, which is why the information is useful.
