Inspired by another thread that suggested a dragonfire adept build refluffed to be a fat guy that pukes all over the place, what other builds can y'all think of that lend themselves to be mutant powers, like the X-men?

When I think of mutant powers, I think of abilities that are 1) supernatural or physically impossible, and 2) extremely focused. For this reason, only a spell caster with an extremely focused spells known list would really work (and not a prepared caster - not inborn enough).

Some that I've thought of, non-specific level:

-A sorcerer with arcane thesis: magic missile, and the fel drain/weakening feats. Other spells known would be debuffers, like slow, necromancy rays, and other weakening spells. Possibly take necropolitan as well. This character's mutant power would be to drain the life force of people around him, and he's learned to apply it in various ways.

-Warforged with the adamantine body feat. Take other toughness-boosting feats and classes, like crusader. Fluff-wise, be a normal human who's impossibly tough and a melee power house.

-Wild shape ranger, and exchange for the shape shifting varient. Take levels in warshaper. Mutant power is shapeshifting - make weapons, heal wounds, extraordinarily strong and tough, etc. Be a changling to add further shapeshifting versatility.

Yes! Before anyone else says it: Master Chymist HULK SMASH!

Totemist is absolutely perfect for this. Be a four armed monster built for mauling the crap out of people. Or have a tail that shoots spikes. Whatever you want really. You make a monster every morning, so you can easily fluff it as constantly mutating monster, or you can keep the same build day after day.

Binder could be much the same. Even incarnate.

Warlock.
See the Unseen Invocation: See in the Dark and any invisible things any time you want.
Devil's Sight Invocation: See in Deeper or Magical darkness, and in the normal dark.
All Seeing Eyes: +6 to Spot checks, permanent Comprehend Languages effect on written text.

Ignore your Eldritch Blast if you can. Eye-beam fluff if you need it.

Void Sense Invocation: See everything around you.

Meanwhile, you can also take Necropolitan or some other undead form for Life Sense to see all living things as if they gave off light relative to their size.

If you take the Charm invocation, you can dip Mind-bender for Telepathy, and then take Mind Sight to know wherever any mentally-active entity is within 100ft range.

The over-all focus is on perception and ability to See more and more as you progress. Very little needs to be done in terms of damage capacity as your main goal should be to point out where enemies are, prevent ambushes by fore-knowledge, and deter stealth assaults by the same.

===============

Any spontaneous caster that builds their spells-known list on a very specific theme; for example, all spells must have the Fire Descriptor, and no summoning.

==============

Any Lycanthrope character going into Warblade, Barbarian, or Fighter. Ex: Toad, as per the 1st of the recent x-men movies from about a decade ago, or more animalistic version of Beast.

===============

Soul-knife, but don't use the 3.5 version; there's lots of fixes for it, and I'd suggest the Pathfinder version; it's 3rd party to a 3rd party, but the original is garbage mechanically speaking; gestalting it with Fighter would not be unsound.

===============

Eidalon5/Master of the Unseen Hand5/Warblade1/Bloodstorm Blade9: Use Eidalon's bonus Ghost feats to access Telekinesis as a spell-like ability (Poltergeist path feats). Then you dip Warblade for the martial maneuver requirements and proceed to hurl weapons and foes alike about the battle-field. Btw, Eidalon, MOTUH, Warblade, and BSB combine into a telekinetic master with full BAB.

Those are some great suggestions, thanks.

Psionics would also work very well, now that I think about it. They wouldn't even have to stay extremely focused like a caster does to maintain a theme.

Perhaps, but if you have some players running very narrow-intent builds and others playing a pure Psion, there's going to be a bit of imbalance. Consider guiding folks who want "psychic powers" as their mutation toward Wilder, Ardent or Pschic Warrior, or Psychic Rogue.

Also, Eidalon for the voluntary incorporeality feat, then Ephemeral Exemplar. Maybe grab the 30ft dimension door and 5ft fly speed to sink into the ground.

You could have a sorcerer or something that focuses on slimy/disgusting magic. You could use stinking cloud (an awesome spell in its own right), ghoul touch, engulfing terror (one of my favourite 3rd-level spells of all time. It summons a gelatinous cube which then goes on a rampage), and amorphous body. Through your spell selection alone, you could be totally mutant. Take levels in the alienist prestige class, and it gets even weirder. Maybe also take the spelltouched feat that makes you constantly exude stench.

If you edit the 3.0 soulknife to have 9/10 manifester progression, and fix the few messed up parts from 3.0 psionics it works pretty well if you go into it as an egoist.
