These stats are intended to portray a group of elves in a harsher, more savage region than most elves are found in. I've cut most of the fluff to avoid boring you. I'd like to see our opinions on whether something's gone too far (I do have some doubts about specific things, but I don't want to colour your reading).
We don't allow buying back of ECL.

Houserule of note: Hide and Move Silently are mashed into a single skill, Stealth.

Black-haired elves are called deep elves, and their eyes are blue, brown or green. Deep elves are like standard elves, save for the following:
They have the following stat modifiers instead: -2 str, +2 wis
They gain no proficiency with weapons beyond those granted by class
They gain darkvision out to 30 feet.
Favored Class: Druid

Deep elves are often the mystics and shamans of elven tribes. Maybe one in twenty Valish elves is a deep elf.

Blonde elves are called sun elves, and their eyes are blue or green, changing with the seasons. Sun elves are like standard elves, save for the following:

They have the following stat modifiers instead: -2 str, +2 cha
Favored Class: Sorcerer or bard
Sun elves are often leaders, diplomats and occasional traders of elven tribes. About one in twenty Valish elves is a sun elf.

Brown-haired elves are called tree elves, and their eyes are green or brown, changing with the seasons. Tree elves are like standard elves save for the following:

They are ECL +1.
They have the following stat modifiers instead: +2 dex, +2 con, +2 wis
Lifeforce (Ex): Tree elves recover hit point and ability damage from resting at twice the normal rate.
Waving branches (Ex): Tree elves don’t count allies when checking for cover with ranged weapon attacks (unless they cause full cover).
Stealthy (Ex): Tree elves gain +1 to all stealth checks.
Shot in the wind (Ex): Tree elves can deliver precision-based damage (from sneak attacks, sudden strikes and skirmish) at 60’ instead of 30’.
Favored Class: Ranger
Tree elves and fire elves make up the bulk of the Valish elf tribes, comprising maybe eight in ten of their members. They are commonly warriors, hunters and craftsmen.

Red haired elves are called fire elves, and their eyes are green or brown, changing with the seasons. Fire elves are like standard elves save for the following:

They are ECL +1.
They have the following stat modifiers instead: +2 dex, +2 str
Tireless (Ex): Fire elves are immune fatigue or exhaustion. They are likewise immune to ability damage to strength, dexterity and constitution. And they need not meditate, except to regain spells.
Resistance (Ex): Fire elves have energy resistance to fire equal to their hit dice.
Favored class: Barbarian
Tree elves and fire elves make up the bulk of the Valish elf tribes, comprising maybe eight in ten of their members. They are commonly warriors, hunters and craftsmen.

White-haired elves are called winter elves, and their eyes are grey. Winter elves are like PHB elves save for the following:

They have no stat modifiers.
Favored class: Cleric

Winter elves are nearly always the religious figures of Valish elf tribes. Maybe one in twenty Valish elves is a winter elf.
