Tainted One and Broodguard, two Yuan-ti templates, were introduced with no listed LA in Monsters of Faerun. They have been reprinted in Savage Species, Races of Faerun, and Serpent Kingdoms. In the first book, they are presented with LA of +1 and 0 respectively. In the second book, Tainted One is given a +2 LA, and Broodguard is declared to be not an option for players. In the third book, they are presented with LA of +3 each. In each case the traits are the same
Now, from a rules perspective the choice is surprisingly clear. Serpent Kingdoms is the only 3.5 book of the lot, and as such we must accept a +3 LA for both templates.
My question is a matter of preference. What does the playground feel is the most appropriate LA? Personally I agree with that of Savage Species, though I could also understand a +2 for Tainted One and +1 for Broodguard.
