So I am playing a gnome illusionist for shackled city. I plan on taking the gnome Illusionist racial. I want to run with the gnome idea and I remembersering a gnome paragon or something like that. It let you cast blur and invis as a spell like ability or something. Can anyone direct me to a lunk or at last the name of what I'm trying to remember.

Blah. That paragon was kool if it only didn't apply only to bards. Are there any good templates or anything that would be a +1 la?

sure, plenty of LA 1 templates. what do you want out of a template? what kind of abilities and stuff?

Dark is a good one for a sneaky caster.

Unless you get it free, you are generally best avoiding LA on a caster.

I don't know. I just want something different. I'm not going to go full optimization . This guy is going to be a shackled city game . What I truely want is sla's. The more useful the better. I don't exactly need power but fun.

Half-fey from Fiend Folio is lots of fun, though it has 2 LA. It gains lots of spell-likes, immunity to enchantments, wings and some decent stat-adjustments.

Half-Fey (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040213a), and you can take only one level of it (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20030824a) if you want.

Go Half-Fey 1/ Wizard 3, buy off (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/reducingLevelAdjustments.htm) that +1 LA for 3,000 xp, gain the second point of Half-Fey, get three more class levels, then buy that one off for 6,000 xp. By 10th level you'll be less than a level's worth of xp behind because of that. Plus you'll get more xp per encounter due to being lower level than the rest of the party and eventually catch back up. Take Item Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/itemFamiliars.htm) at 3rd level, you get +10% to your current XP before paying that first 3,000 xp, and it further mitigates the cost of buying off your level adjustments.
