Having seen some things related to the improvement of using improvised weapons, I wonder as to the possibility of a character who uses improvised weapons exclusively, and if such a character, properly built (most likely with levels in Drunken Master) would be able to function compared to an average PC. What are your thoughts on this concept?

if you can get it to "fly"

one level of commoner + a rather familiar flaw (chicken infested)

suddenly you have all the chickens you will ever need for bashing peoples' skulls in. Yes, enough to bash every single drow... heh, bash the kobolds or the elves if thats your thing.

The problem is that, in 3.5, there is no way to gain proficiency with improvised weapons (not even the drunken master grants it).

a pathfinder feat (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/catch-off-guard-combat) fixes it, and can be further improved (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/improvised-weapon-mastery-combat---final).

The Hulking Hurler's Really Throw Anything ability would possibly work for improvised thrown weapons...

There was a 3.0 PrC in... I'm wanting to say Sword and Fist (all my 3.0 material is packed up at the moment)... which did a lot of things with improvised weapons.

Indeed, the Hulking Hurler is the king of improvised weapon usage. But you don't smack things with them, you throw them. And your damage becomes exponential.

Would retraining the racial weapon proficiency that Elfs get with a Warblade's weapon aptitude to get Weapon Proficiency Chair, Table, etc work?

Mmm... let's explore that.

Weapon Aptitude states that you can change the designated weapon for any feat you have which applies only to a single weapon.

However, the problem here is that the Elf gains Martial Weapon Proficiency feats, and chairs, tables, etc are not martial weapons.

If you can get the GM to agree to let them count as exotic weapons, a dip in Master of Masks for Gladiator would work, though.
