Second last row, first and second column. Are those 'pops' the demons returning to the underworld, or something Redcloak used to kill the demons? I thought it was the first, but then someone else interpreted it as the latter and now I'm not sure.

They're being dismissed.
Either way it returns them to their plane.
Betraying his lawful obligation to pay them would be a pointless and only cause unnecessary strife that would risk (marginally so) his ultimate goal.

In addition, it shows one of the bearded devils opening his payment and being happy about the contents, which implies that Redcloak's "a little something extra" is actually extra payment and not a lethal booby trap. With their work completed and payment recieved, the fiends returned to their home plane.

They completed the job.
They got paid.
They went home.

Most summoning spells like that end when the creature has completed the task or the duration of the spell ends.

Most summoning spells like that end when the creature has completed the task or the duration of the spell ends.

Summoned creatures don't need to be paid, but ones called via planar ally or a similar spell generally do. It's compensation for the much longer duration of service.
