We all know that scrying can be expensive, and gather information can take a rather long time. Would you say larger towns and even certain planes, would have a newspaper or some sort of daily caller of information?

Eberron has, among others, the Korranberg Chronicle described on p133 of ECS, city size about 17,000, but continent-wide readership

It depends entirely upon your setting and on your DM if it isn't a published setting. Regardless of setting, I wouldn't expect anything like a newspaper in anything smaller than a large town or small city and even then it might not be daily. (Even in the modern world, many newspapers don't publish daily, especially in small towns.) Newspapers will obviously be more likely in higher technology or magic settings where they are easier to reproduce.

On a planar level, it's difficult to coordinate the dispersion of information across long distances without magic being involved. Orders of Wizards and the like could certainly use various spells (Scrying being the obvious one) to transmit information between members across long distances and might sell the information to interested parties (maybe to criers' guilds or something like that who pass the good bits on to the public) or publish some form of newsletter for guild members who might need to know about (for example) politics in the capital that could affect their research. Without magic being involved, I doubt a planar newspaper would be possible, especially on a dialy basis.
