Sorry, But A Question...

I'm sorry, but this part of the forums gets WAY more traffic than the AD&D forum, but for anybody who actually knows, can AD&D 2nd Edition Add-ons be used to play AD& 1st Edition? Because I got the AD&D 1st Edition Core Rulebooks from my dad, and I accidentally bought a LOT of AD&D 2nd Edition Add-Ons because I thought that the Core books were 2nd. So in short, I don't want to buy anything else (Old books are expensive now.), and I want to know if they are compatible, and, if no, how do I convert the 2nd Edition to 1st? (I just want to play 1st.) Thank you for your time, and for reading this extremely long post. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

There's basically no official support whatsoever for what you're trying to do. That said, those two editions will be far more compatible than trying to pair one of them with 3rd or 4th edition. Just take the stuff that works, throw out what doesn't, and use common sense to resolve any contradictions.
