Balmad, an independent city that lies in the Arabian desert and is bathed by the Red Sea. Nicknamed Badlands City by some of it's citizens, this city can be a paradise or a nightmare depending on your status. The Al Bhadil mafia runs a good knack of the city and possess the biggest casino, the Jewel 7. But it's believed that the mafiosos won't bark if the fearsome mercenaries of the Order Civilitas won't allow. This Order is the biggest organization of the world and claim to maintain peace all over the globe, something they actually did quite well since the Heretic Wars, when they were founded. Lastly, some few people believe there's still the CoNumen, the enigmatic organization behind the creation of powerful psionics, including the angels of death who wreaked havoc in the heretic wars.

A famous feature in this city is the sewer system. Housing thousands of outcasts, it was the place that Malk, Vinc and Russel decided to settle their headquarters. Gathering all the people who would support their cause, the trio now counts with a dozen. Those people are commited to find the biggest ammount of psionics they can and overthrow the opressive forces of all the big shots in the city.

There's Vinc, Russel and Malk, the original trio followed by Jojo, their loyal droid. Matt and Lisa, the reporters couple who were fired for researching psionics offer their skill in information gathering, driving and overall friendship to the cause. Old Martha and her aprentice, Connie, are the cookers of the group. The veteran surgeon, dr. Sheppard, is the official medic of the group. Janet is a computer expert and young Stevie is a skilled mechanic. Debbie, the burglar can sometimes fetch some rare equips (she function like some sort of merchant, but the money is supposed to help in her mission). Adds to the team the dog, mr. Barkalot, who is generally useless, but at least helps relieve the group of their stressful situation. Of all them, only Vinc, Russel and Malk are psionics.

Info about someone with the potential to develop psionic skills came to their ears and eyes. A towering men named Myke Byson that could grapple a bull if he wanted. No doubt someone like him, with or without psionics, could help them. It's believed he just went to the Jewel 7, where lies the bulk of the Al Bhadil mafia, who supposedly killed his master. The psi group intend to intervene before Myke has any chance to do something disastrous, or simply stupid. He could disappear in best case scenario, or die and cause a lot of chaos in the worst case one.

=====================

Malk, Russel, Vincent and Jojo entered the fancy casino, Jewel 7. After Russel decides what to do in case of trouble, Malk takes some time waltzing around the place and so does Vinc.

The fight start, and Myke kicks Donnie, putting the juggernaut in the floor and punching his face.
But Donnie resist and don't faint, now it's his turn.

Even though Donnie managed to endure the face punch, when he tries to get up Myke unforgivingly grapples him.

The crowd is almost silent, perplexed with the clear superiority of the mysterious stranger in this beggining of the fight.

After getting a hold of his oponent, Mykewill try to pin him down and strangle him to inconsciousness.

Grapple check to pin: [roll0]

Then, if he got pinned:
Grapple check to damage/pin* him: [roll1] dmg [roll2]

*If I fail the pinning, I'll keep trying to pin (you can use it as many times as you have attacks, but your bba begin get smaller etc) so you can use the same roll above with a -5 on it.

If he got pinned he can only try to escape the pin (he can try as many times as the number of attacks he have).

Edit: More info in grappling: D20Modern Core Rulebook pg. 154

The fight pass most of the time with the two fighters grappling in the ground.
Myke, a versatile fighter, probably realized he would have more chance is he exploited his jiu jitsu skills against an opponent who focused in punching and kicking. The strategy proved to be sucessful, it was a flawless victory.

The crowd was silent for a moment, but suddenly yelled Noa Body, the new favorite of the Jewel 7. If this fight was a close fight, maybe some would consider luck, but poor Donnie couldn't land a single finger in his adversary. His career ends now.

After much commemoration, Myke exits the arena. He finds two members of the mafia that invite him to the Bertie's place. Bertie Al Bhadil is one of the big shots of the mafia and he wants to talk with you, face to face. They assure you you won't regret.

==========================

The Psi team gets ready. Following the plan, Russel, Malk and Jojo are supposed to follow Myke. You know, from info collected, that Bertie is responsible from mafia's drugs business and is also quite impredictible. His adopted sister, Melina, probably is also somewhere in this casino right now, since she is the head manager of the mafia's gamble business. Both are reported to possess limited psionics capabilities. In fact, chances are that the mafia has more psionics in their ranks then you, the psi team.

If Myke accept visiting Bertie, Vincent will head to infiltrate the security room.

Jojo is out of his machine gun (Vinc took it away before the mission). But his electric chain are hidden well enough, so he managed to enter with it.

Myke smilesto himself, soon he'll face one of the mafia guys and is hoping to smash his face so hard he wont be recognizable anymore.

"I'll go talk with this Bernie guy".

Well, it's up to the Psi team to reach the room.

There's basically three ways.

First, try to talk your way and enter the elevator. It's a tough charisma related skill check, mind you.

Second, there are other ways to reach the room, like emergency stairs. According to the reporters couple, there is a guarded door leading to such stairs, and it is located in a place with few people.

Both cases you won't have the equip located in the restroom.

Third, you can get your weapons in the restrooms and try to reach the room going through air vents. Takes some climb check and it's harder to guess which way is the way to go.

Fourth, you can simply get your weapons in the restroom and storm the whole place. You will be swarmed by guards and the whole city will hunt you.

==========

Myke, you're simply talking with the mafia members and didn't reach the room yet (I'll wait the psi team decisions). Bertie isn't with you, he is in the room waiting.

==========

If the team manage to go in the elevator, they and Myke will reach the room at the same time. If they go by stairs, they'll get slightly later.
If they go by air vents, they'll get much later. If they decide to storm the place... well, who cares, the whole building will be in panick.

Russel likes the idea of getting in quick and fast. using the stairs seem like a good plan. if there are jsut a few people guarding it, they might even be bypassed...

If someone form the headquartes could secure their wepons... He dosen't like the idea of leaving precious itens to be stolen or found.

Malk will accept Russel's plans.

However, Jojo returns from the restroom with some of your smaller equipment inside his chest.

"Vincent told me to get whatever I could put in my chest."

So you can head to the guards at the staircase and proceed to search Myke. Your time is running out, don't let Myke do something too scandalous, or worse, die.

By radio, you can hear Vincent's voice, almost whispering.

"Damn. I'm in a tight situation here, too much guards, but the security room is a few steps away."

Vincent managed to bypass the guards because he's very stealthy (Chamaleon power). You might have a harder time, but it's not impossible. You can always talk your way in. And you can also fight, if it don't make too much noise and no one runs away (and you hide the unconscious or dead guards), the rest of the casino might not even notice.

==============

Jojo's chest

Jojo has a place in his chest that functions like a backpack. It's a somewhat outdated device, so many people don't even know he has this place in the chest. He can have a lot of stuff there, up to the size of a large pistol.
There's a DC to check if such item is there when you are inside a misson. For a small item that you usually carry and is very versatile (like duct tape) the DC is 10. For a larger or more occasional item (like investigation kit) the DC is 15. For a weapon the DC is 20. The checks get higher each time for an additional item. For an additional tiny item, the check ups 1 DC. For an additional small item, ups for 2 DC. For a medium item ups 5 DC.

There are three ways to check.

Planning, which is d20+int mod
Intution, which is d20+wis mod
Luck, which is d20+cha mod

So, unless the item is very easy to conceal, your chances with each item are slim. Better go to a mission prepared.

By the way, those rules about Int, Wis and Cha are bigger than Jojo's chest. Those 3 will enter the play in similar situations. Like when a puzzle is hard to solve, I'll secretely roll a check for each character and determine the DC of the event.
Int mod is related with Insight and knowledge, so the character's intellect could hint about the puzzle's solution.
Wis mod is related with intution and feeling, very similar to Int with very similar results. While Int could hint about the logic behind the puzzle, wisdom could simply hint about something to do.
Cha mod is related with charm and luck (at least in this campaign), so a ramdom event or person could help the party.

This will happen sparingly and it's only so the DM can help the party in a impartial way (and following the roleplay of a smart, witty or charismatic character).

Russel puts his hands into the robot's chest, hoping to find his katana
intuiton DC 20 [roll0]

As soon as possible, he tries to peek at the area that should be the stairs. only then he could make plan to bypass or slaughter the guards

You see only two guards.

They don't have that serious guard face. They are laughing at something, telling jokes and stuff. They're not even in front of the door.

You could simply knock them out, or sneak behind.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-yZ10hohQjwo/UPToXiw_W1I/AAAAAAAAAYI/F_dTPkjthG0/s496/Casino1.png

The classy tokens are: "M" for "Malk", "R" for "Russel" and "J" for Jojo. There will be a "V" for "Vincent" and "B" for "Bison".
I'll stick with those stuff, since they are simpler.

Plus, Jojo can't stuff a whole katana inside him (that would be super weird). He can, and he did, put the Desert Eagle. But that's because of the restroom in this mission (i.e. the weapon were there already). Most of the small itens that were in the restroom are with Jojo now.
Don't worry, though, you might find a katana in a guard, the mafia find those words very fancy. It won't be your ninja'ed Katana, but a simple Katana is better than nothing. But, for now, you'll have to stick with the dagger.

By the way, the guards are armed with pistols and machine guns.

Russel's (slightly) daring sneak plan worked. They passed right through the two guards, laughting hard, probably drunk.

One of the guard notices the opened door. In his stupidness, he just close it and don't check what opened it. Well, stupid but lucky, since he would face a deadly shuriken in his neck if he checked the door.

Time is running. In front of the two psionics and the robot lies the stairs. They must be fast.

============

Myke Byson feels like a celebrity. Surrounded by mafia grunts, all of them talking to him and promising fortunes and drinks. Would be great, if Myke didn't hate every single one of them.

The door leading to the room where Bertie is waiting is just ahead of you.
If you have something dashing in mind, maybe it's time to do now. But maybe you just want to face this Bertie guy face to face.

Russel uses his ninja skills to move quickly but silently. he stands upfront of the group. for some reason the sucessfull infistration triggered his honed assassin's desire.

Myke will wait for a time with Bertie alone or with not too much guards: he does want to punch this guy in the face, but he isn't ok in dying in the process.

(OOC: By the way... How many are in the room at the moment?)
