Hello guys i need help! we got a new party starting and I cant decide what class to choose, because i like wizards and magic (i cant take wizard someone else picked wiz already and i cant just play bard or priest) and most other classes i just dont like. My DM suggested i could try going for class he made that is pretty much the Eldritch Knight, but i dont know how good he will be compared to my allies in later lvls, will i be able to help or i will be just dragged along? Anyone can help? the class is a mix of wizard/fighter and seems good to me but i dont know how good and also i dont know if i could get some specific feats for a good build (ex. critical hit build or dex build). My DM sais its a risk i have to take to see how good he is and doesnt explain to me much more than that. i can give u some more info for this class if u want. i am open to suggestions!

Are you talking about the Magus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus) class? That's an official Pathfinder class that combines magic with swordfighting, and is generally considered a very good class (not as overpowering as Wizard/Druid/Cleric/Sorcerer, but waaaaay better than playing a non-caster).

There's also the Summoner (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/summoner), Oracle (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/oracle), Witch (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/witch), and Inquisitor (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/inquisitor) as alternative caster classes.

The magus gets spells known and spells-per-day at the same rate a Bard does, but the list of available spells is much more focused on combat spells, buffs, and damage spells. It gets a pool of Arcane points it can spend each day to do things like buff its attack rolls or re-use a spell it already cast earlier. It can dual-wield a spell with a weapon as if it were two-weapon fighting, in order to attack and cast in the same turn. And finally, it can cast a touch-range spell and attack with its weapon instead of just touching the foe, to do both weapon damage AND spell damage with the same attack.
