View Full Version : Ready, Aim Fire I (Now Recruiting)

Silkenfist
2006-11-02, 06:59 PM
Welcome to the first instance of Ready, Aim, Fire. In this game you will battle each other until only one is left. Get in touch with your inner Belkar.

How does it work:

1) Each round, each player sends me a message with his action.

2) There are three possible actions. Shoot yourself, shoot in the air or shoot someone.

3) Shoot in the Air: This has no effect on you, anybody else or anybodys action.

4) Shoot yourself: If you shot yourself and noone else tried to shoot you, you die.
4a) If you shoot yourself AND at least one other player tries to shoot you too, you remain alive and all assailants die instead.

5) Shoot someone: You have to specify a certain player that you want to shoot. You shoot that player and they die
5a) Exception: If your victim has tried to shoot itself, you die instead (See 4b)

6) After each round, the survivors are put together in a new standoff and the next round ensues. This continues until there is only one player left.
6a) If all players die simultaneously in one round, that round is repeated.

7) One round will last for about 48 hours, with each update there will be a deadline for your submission.
7a) Players who don't submit an action within the deadline are treated as if they shot the air.
7b) Players who don't submit an action twice in a row are removed from the match.

8) You can't join during a match but once a winner has been determined, there will be a new match with new signups

9) Don't take games too seriously and have fun.

Registration for Match 1 is now open and will end on Sunday 6 PM Eastern. Register by replying here.

A fairy-winged, black-hooded reaper, with a shotgun in one hand and a Foster's in the other, coming after me while leaving a trail of sparkling shiny pinky fairy dust behind? I'm definitively in!

lets play a little game in between while waiting for this game to begin.

I call it "shoot PM's at Silkenfist".

the rules are very simple,
1) everybody sends Silkenfist a pm, asking him/her to start the "Ready, Aim Fire"-game.

2) if Silkenfist starts the game, we all win!!!

3) dont pm more than once a day!

Silkenfist

1) Him, please. I'm not V :)

2) Ouch, ouch, stop it, shoot each other already.

Now start the violence already.

Just as a suggestion, Post your votes in the subject line of the PM.
That way it can be read without having to click to open it. Much easier to maintain that way.

OK....

DarkLightDragon, Dispozition, Gezina, Kantur, Selrahc and weebl do nothing except for smoking a bong and saying "dude" a lot. However, when weebl goes to the john, he is gunned down from behind by Lord Herman, probably mad that he wasn't invited.
Kantur, finding the corpse, calls the police immediately. They arrive in the form of Lucky, veecher and a masked police Llama. They take Kantur with them, only to shoot him in a sleazy back alley for wasting their time.
The three of them do a high five and part to go home. But only two of them arrive, because the police Llama is shot in his doorway by Beta. Ms Elaneous, who watched the scene, shoots a few rounds in the air to stop the murderer only to be gunned down herself by faerwain for disturbance of the peace by night. Severely traumatized by the killing, evnafets throws himself on the freeway.

Woo, I got first blood!

This does seem to be a very quick game. Over a third of the contestants is already dead, and I predict another five or six will die next round.

Also, I can't seem to figure out wether I stand a better chance of surviving when I shoot myself, or when I shoot someone else... depends on the suicide:homicide ratio, I guess.

And I want rules for stabbitying people, dammit!

Silkenfist
2006-11-15, 01:54 PM
Well...you may add some trash talk in your messages and I will try to bend it into the story as far as possible.

Concerning the best path of action: It depends on the number of other participants, the preferences of them and the likelihood of them to submit an action at all. If you estimate those values, you could calculate an ideal action. Still you will find that those calculations only help you marginally.

Beta

statisticly speaking, isn't it true the game should always be quickly over, as every additional player increases the amounts of shots fired in a round AND the amount of players that have to be killed before the game is over by one.

Silkenfist
2006-11-15, 03:22 PM
The duration of the game grows exponentially to the number of its participants. And if I say exponentially, I mean exponents smaller than 1

"It's all bussiness..*cough*..nothing personal, Elanouigi..."

Don't know, would it be reassuring for you to know that it was simple, cruel, uncaring fate instead of vicious bloodlust against your very person, which I belive is a very gentle one though this be our first meeting? ("Hi, I'm Faerwain. I'm the one who murdered you for being too loud at defending public safety" - Great way of introduction, gotta keep this up).

I just wanted to shot someone, so I simply took the list as Silkenfist wrote it down and let an online randon number generator do the dirty work.

Dirty deeds, done dirt cheap.... *stage-exit-Angus-Young-style*

*gunshots*

Silkenfist

Amazingly, there are was only one timeout this round. On to the action.

faerwain, Beta and Dispozition meet to conduct a scientific experiment whether shooting your vital organs does hurt. After each of them has shot himself voluntarily, they conjoinedly come to the conclusion that shooting yourself DOES hurt - before dying of blood loss.
Meanwhile on the top of a cliff, Gezina wanders around aimlessly, his plunge into certain death just a matter of time. Veecher, who can't bear watching that scene, decides to push Gezina down right away. This however brings him near to the edge, which Lord Herman abuses by sneaking up and pushing him down as well. Lord Herman looks down to make sure, his opponents are dead, when he is booted down by Lucky. Lucky then braced himself against an attacker that might try to push him down. Unfortunately for him, there were two attackers that teamed up on him. Selrahc and the Darklightdragon grappled him and threw him down to the others.
All of this has left just Selrahc and the Dragon alive on the top of the cliff. They realise this immediately and draw their weapons....

Okay, count me in then. Or is there going to be a new recruitment thread?

Oh, and I predict that both contestants will die. They'll either shoot each other, or they'll both shoot themselves.

Silkenfist

Well, they will carry on until there is a decision. Sooner or later, we will have a winner.

Holy OK-Corral, Batman!

That was quite a shoot-out...but as it pleases my simple violent mind, count me in for the next round!

Lord Herman
2006-11-17, 04:02 PM
Speaking of the O.K. Corral, what about having a theme for each game of Ready, Aim, Fire? For instance, the next round could have a western theme. Silkenfist could write his descriptions of each round (which are awesome, by the way) to match. What do you all think? Stupid idea or nobel prize material?

yeah, great idea.
suggestions: a samurai showdown, a dragonball battle and a jedi fight.:smallcool:

yeah, the descriptions are great.
Keep it up silkenfist! :applaus:

faerwain
2006-11-18, 11:54 AM
Yeah, Themes would be cool, especially as Silkenfist really does it great with description.

What about a 18./early 19. century robber-and-soldier-theme? You know, **** Turpin, Schinderhannes, that kind.

EDIT: AARGH, this morning I read the Thread about the language filter, and now got trapped myself... so, I'm talking about "Richard" Turpin then, m'kay? :)

Silkenfist

Not waiting anymore...

Having defeated each of their opponents, Dragon and Selrahc are engaged in a face off at the top of a crumbling cliff with weapons drawn. Dragon is first to act and she sends a bullet into the air to startle her opponent. Selrahc, however, stands unmoved, not even readying his pistol. As the scent of gunpowder fills the air around them, Selrahc inhales deeply. His eyed begin to roll up before he mumbles something and topples into the depths.

Round 1 is over - Dragon wins by default. The next round will be put up now in a seperate thread and it will have a theme to it.
