Just a simple thought and question. Imagine a character wandering around by himself and wanting to be comfortable. What items would you suggest? Nothing too extravagant. So far I'm thinking an Enveloping Pit, furnished, to replace a tent or the ground. Heward's bedroll to get up and start the day early. Either that magic spoon or goodberry bracelet for sustenance. What items would you add?

Personal anti-rain repulsion field.

Magically enchanted shoes with Prestidigitation so that they are always warm and clean.

Depends highly on the character.
An evil sorcereress might want a purely white dancing dress that never gets dirty and dancing boots that you actually can walk in perfectly, sexy clothing that still keeps you warm and maybe a servant or magic disk that carries some utility stuff she might need like a piece of wood that multiplies itself when thrown into a pile that even burns itself when a special word is spoken or she snaps her fingers. Also, a wand to make a princess-like bed might fit with an alarm spell or watchdog (magical, so she doesn't have to feed him and stuff).

A goodheart monk meanwhile might use only some clothing, a walking stick and a backpack for rations he finds on his way, maybe two healing potions that do fall soft so they don't burst when falling down, you know, for harmed civilians he might find. I think he wouldn't even get his cloth to keep him magically warm, but rather find it to be a training and process of hardening.

Some people just need tons of expensive stuff to keep comfortable and other don't. Even rain: some people see it as the way of nature and others dislike it and would protect themselves against it if possible.

Travel Cloak
keeps you warm and dry, all underneath is save from rain. Pockets can produce a)enough rations for 2 persons a day and b) 2 gallons of either fresh cold water or hot tea in a flask in a pocket.
oh and on a command word it can extend to a small tent for you to use.

Very comfortable!

Survival Pouch
For utility convenience. 5/day reach into the pouch and get one of these:
- TrailRation
- full water skin
- campfire (that can be disassembled into up to 8 torches)
- Short Bow and Arrows
- Rope
- Donkey (no really)
- a showel
- a tent

Adding to Pandianos List:
Campfirebead: Albeit being a PF item this little bead grows into a campfire for up to 8 hours. Afterwards it has to recharge for double the amount of time it burned to be usable again.

Muleback Cords: Another PF item but it raises your strength by 8 for carrying stuff. (with that little thing our Half elf barbarian hauled the petrified mage back to town...)

Custom made item of:
Boots of Skate (Psi)
These boots grant the effect of the Skate manifestation.

Hope this helps.

Ring of sustenance?

Ring of sustenance?

nope! No style. Having yummy food whenever you want trumps needlessness of nomming and hot fruit tea in the evening at the fire!

Ring Gates and a Restaurant in your debt... three square plus tea and you never have to carry a thing or do any washing :)

That is style! And for the ambiente: Personal Oasis. For the beach feeling wherever you may go!

Self Resetting Magical Trap of Heroes Feast.

30K for everyday Autoresetting Heroes Feast Trap. Expensive? Sure. 1d8+10 Free Temp Hitpoints, Immunity to Fear, and, a negligible morale bonus to Will and Attack.Do you need it more than once per day? If not it is available much cheaper: Horn of Plenty (MIC p. 162) - Heroes Feast 1/day 12000 gp. You can even buy 2 for under 30k gp.

I guess I really do need to get MiC. For 12K you get 4 Heroes Feasts one shot traps, I guess that is not equivalent? Whats the CL? Currently its at CL10.

On the other hand, make a business out of selling them to large restaurants. 30K to Feed everyone.

Not only that, but it is free cutlery, crockery, tables etc.

As an aside; Make your very own Harrods! Make a Pretigidation Trap to rapid clean dirty plates then either sell them in your shop alongside a ton of Magnificent Chairs, tables etc. The service would be an issue though? Is it through floating cups and saucers etc? Or animated Teapots? Or do you get Service in the form of at least a dozen Commoners? If Evil, sell them on for even more money! Or if a bit naughty/using BoEF redefine "service" entirely.

Polymorph Trap for after dinner entertainment? Circus!

Admittedly not for adventuring purposes.

Not only that, but it is free cutlery, crockery, tables etc.I'm pretty sure the stuff vanishes when the spell's duration expires.

Ring of Prestidigitation/Mending/Easy Math has got to be one of the most useful items that could ever be created. Its basically a Swiss Army Knife.

Easy Math where is that spell from?

Song and Silence. Its a versatile level 0 spell that allows you to make accurate mathematics near instantaneously. Its useful for just about everything you would find a calculator useful for.
