I know there are improved animal companions, etc. but I would really like a fox or Rabbit or a vermin of some sort. I haven't seen anything against or for it so far and I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I know I should probably ask my DM but he would probably say "I guess, maybe?" and not give a straight answer

Thanks, Sam

I'd advise using a Wolf or a Riding Dog and describing it as a Dire Fox. If you're in Pathfinder I believe there are more choices available.

There are also these (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20040705a) alternate rules for vermin companions. I would recommend asking your DM if you can instruct them as a regular animal companion, instead of requiring a move action. I have no idea what the person who wrote those rules was thinking when they made it need a move action. *shakes head*

That's a great find. I'd never seen that before. I love the comment about the imagery of a druid commanding a swarm.
