Hello everyone

I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me. I'm looking for pictures of alchemical ingredients (plants, flowers, mushrooms, tree-bark and stuff like that) made in the art style found in most D&D books.
Google has helped me find a few pieces, but if anyone has any suggestions of sites that might have pictures like this, or book (preferably some available for purchase in PDF format) where i can find a larger collection of this, i would be hugely appreciative!

A bonus question: Is the artstyle found in D&D books called anything specific? something that could help if i go back to google searching :)

PS. I plan to use these pictures as handouts for my gaming group, so while i do plan to copy them, it will be strictly for personal use.

different d and d books have different art styles, you really want to be more specific.

sacred texts has a lot of alchemy books with woodcuts http://www.sacred-texts.com/alc/index.htm

a lot of it is very symbolic though, plants and animals listed actually refer to other things that are called that or look like that. (eye of newt in old herbal recipes is actually dried juniper berry, for instance)

of course, our world alchemists dealt mostly in refined chemicals, salts, and metals, not actual plants. so you'd be better served searching for herbalism texts. for example, searching herbalism woodcut gets a lot of good things like this. http://images.wellcome.ac.uk/indexplus/image/L0040792.html identification guides will often have hand drawn images you can use as well.

I should have been clearer i guess. I'm talking about images in the style of current edition RPG books, like the shields found here:

Or the potions of stuff found here:

And you're completely right, the stuff i'm looking for is perhaps a bit more herbalism than alchemical. I will also need stuff like metals and powders, but these are a bit easier to find on google :)

Something like this maybe?

Easiest way is to use google image search. Type something like "paintings of herbs" and then look through for something that looks like what you have in mind, mouseover the image and click on the link for "similar".

Exactly something like that!

I hadn't considered using 'show similar' thanks for that suggestion - back to image searching for me
