So I'm building a wizard for an Undermountain/Underdark sandbox campaign and I decided on an illusionists. The only experience with building wizards I have is conjurors, and there are some fundamental differences in how they function. So I've come to you all seeking advice on how to proceed.

Character is level 10. LA races are allowed. Books include Core, Completes, Spell Compendium, and a few others. Anything outside requires DM clearance but is not dismissed out of hand.

I have had a lot of fun in the past using shadow craft mage (it is from Races of Stone), and it really helps an illusionist.

If you are going to play in the underdark and you get the shadowcrafter (from the underdark book) also approved you could be on the basis of the killer gnome, which imho is a really fun build to play as an illusionist, and it will build on your experience as a conjurer.

Here (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19872354/Shadowcraft_Mage_Handbook), a handbook

Those can work , as can shadow adept and a good dip in nightmare spinner.
