1. Awakened
I love the movie tie-in in the crunch, and it seems really really fun in the context of a normal D&D game. Very well-executed in general.
2. Archaeologist
I like this and I think that it's good. Fisticuffs seems like a really fun ability, and I generally just... like this entry.
3. Director
It was either this or Reelist (I liked both), but I went with this. I like the 4e controller feel, and it works well with the contest theme.

At first I wrote an honorable mention, but then I realized that I was mentioning almost everyone and then... I decided to mention everyone.

Reelist, I like the concept and it certainly fits the vibe of the contest but I still see some problem adapting it to most campaign settings, of course it can be homebrewed to fit but since it is already a piece of homebrew... Still really cool, I really liked the director specialties.

Director, This is nicely done, but I feel that it is just another summoner (a cool one though). and even if I like it I feel that there are other concepts that seem more appealing, it also suffers a little from the same troubles of Reelist, it is like you have to homebrew it to use it on vanilla D&D.

Movie Hero, You got my curiosity with "You killed my father" unfortunately there are a couple of mechanics that I don't really like. I feel that never tell me the odds should also apply to crits, as it is almost only saves are affected (and those are cool, but yeah). Also some of its mechanics could lead to abuse of the backstory. i.e. the movie hero had the largest family ever and the Big Bad ordered its army to kill it and more or less all the soldiers killed them. A Mary Sue reference would have been awesome.

War Medic, This is a really nice class and I feel that healing is under used in D&D, it can also be used in most campaign settings and I would really like to see it once it is finished.

Archeologist, don't get me wrong I really like this class, it references one hell of a character and it is done nicely. Its just that... too many dead levels make me a sad person. The abilities are cool, but something could have been done to have those other abilities filled.

Theatrist, at first glance I wondered if this class was finished, it is a pretty short entry (and I've been reading long entries), that is nice I like simplicity. But... after reading it over it feels like an illusionist. And even if an illusionist is always nice I don't really see a lots of applications of this in combat unless they select shadow conjuration or something like that with their free illusions. That ends leading with a person that has shadow conjuration at will and that imho is a bad idea.

And now... to the voting.

3rd Agent This is a really cool class. The winning personality is nice, it adds charisma which is normally underused to a lot of nice checks and I really like martial classes, the martial disciplines selected are great too.

2nd Awakened Matrix was awesome and the Matrix idea applied to D&D. It is great to not have dead levels and all the abilities are cool. Personally I would have tied it to the ethereal plane or a demiplane of the ideas or something like that and that brings it to...

1st The extractor If the Awakened was the melee guy of the demiplane of the ideas this one is the rogue (you only need the caster and then that's it a new setting book). First of all I am biased toward classes that have classes features at all levels and classes that use incarnum (I really like incarnum). But... incarnum and martial disciplines... awesome. Yeah, this is a great class, thanks for writing it.

Wow. :smalleek:

Thanks for that.

Votes tallied. These put the agent in first, the awakened and archaeologist tied for second, and the extractor and director only two points behind them. We still have a few days of voting, so we'll see how it turns out.

1. Extractor-You had me at Incarnum and Chronicles of Amber. The rest of the class merely pushed it up to first place. I wonder if it's a bad sign that I seem to just put you as my first place vote.

2. Director-It's a nice summon based class, but one that also gives things to do besides creating the summons(something that can often be lacking). Very nice. The fact that it's also generic also makes me more inclined to it: sometimes I find the classes that are rigidly based on a certain character to restrictive(yeah, I know, this from they guy who made the Agent).

3. The Reelist- Another Generic class(in the terms that it's not rigidly based on one specific character, and more a profession), and with a different take on the whole invocation thing.

Honorable Mentions:

War Medic: An interesting class, I feel the main problem is that despite having a decent ability spread, it is most certainly unfinished. As it is, it works best as an NPC class, though spells might change that, as would abilities that interacted with it's spell list better, or abilities that were more active in nature, rather than utterly reactive. That said, it's a healer class, something that DnD needs more of.

1-Extractor. I have a character who is an Extractor, and didn't know it till I saw this class. Character quote: "There is no real difference between sleeping and waking, it's just perspective." I love the concept. Well written, too.

2-Theatrist. I've played this character too. A first level mage swings the tide of battle. Picture this: It's like Helm's Deep. We're on the battlements, about to get overrun. He organizes the boiling oil, takes it to the upwind tower, and as it dumps off into the breeze sets it alight while casting an illusion of a massive Red Dragon rising from inside to perch on the walls and breathe a mighty blast of fire onto the attackers below. Illusion? No; real burns, real fire, must be a real dragon... time to flee. Again, nicely written.

3-War Medic. It's an under-recognized function; thanks for highlighting it. I'd like to see more healing power and less fighter power, to make the class even more potent. Mass healing, earlier regeneration... it could even lead to a tech flavored prestige class with artificed replacement parts in lieu of regeneration. I liked it as far as it went.

Honorable Mention to most other writeups - most are well done, even if not my favorites.

1st: The director, I love summoners and this one is an excellent summoner/battlefield control character with interesting fluff. Love it.

2nd: Awakened, once again I love the fluff of the class. The idea of a constantly aware martial artist is awesome.

3rd: Theatrist. While I think the crunch is a bit lacking the idea of an illusionist creating special effects for the stage is awesome. I feel that a really interesting character could be made with this if the creator was creative enough. I think the capstone is a bit ludicrous though.

Votes tallied. Everyone's class now has at least one vote, the extractor is in 1st with 13 points, the agent and director are next with 12 each, and the awakened follows closely behind with 11. The archaeologist is also not far behind with 9 points. We've got a few days left, though, so don't count yourself out if you're not on top right now.
