View Full Version : Is this a good system?

I had an idea for a special system in a campaign I will be running. The system is basically, at certain points if you do something exceptionally well, such as role-playing really well or putting good strategies in place in battle, and other things you get a "plot point" which allows you to reroll bad rolls, power up attacks, or other things (I haven't really decided on what comes as the limit). Now, I am not sure if this will actually work, so any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated

You mean action points (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/adventuring/actionPoints.htm)?

I never saw that before. A DM of my former campaign used it, but I was trying to improve upon it, trying to make it more useful outside of combat.

back (WAAY BACK) in the day there was some game where what you are saying had a rulesset for that.

you did something good OUT of combat you got a mark/point/whatever

it gave you like a bonus dice ( like a d6 I think) to add on to teh attack or save throw

its pretty nice, and it really helps those guys out who are more inot teh RPing than smash head part by giving their usually non-combat relavant characters somewhat of a decent way to contribute meaningfully in combat.

Check out Pathfinder's Hero Points. They basically do what you want them to already:
