Today, I was introduced to the Pokemon Tabletop (http://forums.pokemontabletop.com/site/) game by a friend. We usually play D&D together every two weeks in a group consisting of me as the DM, with 4-7 players depending on circumstances, but he showed it to two of us and the other guy seemed enthusiastic about starting up a little game with it, and the friend who showed it to us said he wouldn't mind being the GM for this, as it's pretty easy to set something up quickly. (The fact that he's played all the games and has got an amazing memory when it comes to games probably help a lot too.)

So we started something up. My co-player decided to go for a Capture Specialist, since they specialize in Dex and Int and he liked the idea of having a ton of different 'mon, so I joined him with an Ace Trainer to complement his versatility with POWER!!

Because my co-player named his character Draven and joked about our characters being brothers, I decided to name my Ace Trainer Darius and the pact was sealed.

As the session came to an end almost an hour ago and I felt like doing something with it and give the character perhaps some extra depth and add something to the little campaign, I thought I'd start up this diary of his. The entry is pretty short, because while the session was four hours long, that was including character creation.

Darius is easily exciteable, headstrong, confident, charismatic and a bit of an idiot. He grew up in Azalea Town, where his and Draven's parents have a restaurant. As their parents were rather strict, they didn't allow them to venture off into the wild, wide world at the appropriate age, so instead they waited until they'd be adults, Darius being just patient enough for his brother to come of age a year after him. Finally being allowed to go, they venture into Ilex Forest, together with their Eevees, Shadow and Flame.

This... is their story.

Session 1
Holy 'karps, Joey! You'll never believe what happened today.

Remember I told you we would finally be allowed to go on our journey to become real men? Today was that day! Flame and I were so stoked that I nearly forgot to pack the stuff we'd gotten for the journey. Draven pulled me along to go see Kurt to get our Pokéballs, because he'd promised us some, but the old man still won't let me call him gramps! Anyway, we both got some and then left him alone again so he could go play with his nuts and make some more balls.

It was pretty dark in Ilex Forest, but I guess that's par for the course there. Y'know, the times we've gone through it were always with mom and dad, so maybe I just didn't really see it before. Of course, if it's dark, I guess you can't really see anything at all. Funny how that goes, ain't it?

But that's when it happened. Draven pointed at something a little off the path and when I looked, it was the most magical sight I'd ever seen.

Grass.

Moving.

There was so much movement, I dared think, there oughta be TWICE the amount of Pokémon in there! I ran towards the spot, stopped because I heard Draven yell something about releasing Flame from his ball first, so I did that and then ran further again. Oh boy, guess what we found there? A pair of mothertrippin' RADISHES! That's like an Oddish, except they're RAD! There was two of them too, so in my masterful move I took one of my balls and threw it at the nearest one of them like POW!

I gave the ball a staredown as the RADdish was sucked into it in a flash of red light until it gave that little "ping" noise I've heard so much about. Oh my god, that was awesome! I caught a RADdish! In one throw!

Man, I know you're the greatest, Joey, but I must be pretty darn close to your level of awesomeness if I can catch one of those in just one throw. For rizzle! I don't know why I wrote that, I'm sorry

Meanwhile, Draven was battling the other one with Shadow, but they seemed evenly matched, so I decided to help him out. Flame darn near tackled the thing into K.O.! Draven caught it though, so I guess we now both have one. I wonder what Pokémon we'll catch that'll be different from each other's?

Anyway, that's it so far for today. We stopped for a bit to have lunch. If more rad stuff happens, I'll let you know!

~ Darius the RADdishcatcher

Darius named his diary, which he keeps secret from his brother, Joey, after the legendary celebrity trainer whose Rattata is in the top percentage of all Rattata.

Session 2
Man, today ended on quite an exciting note, Joey. Like you wouldn't believe.

After we both caught Oddishes and had lunch, I climbed a tree up to the very top, but didn't find any Pokemon in there like Draven had said there might be. I did see some Pidgey, but they were too far to throw a ball at.

Draven went off looking for Pokemon further off the road and kind of disappeared, so I went to look for him after I'd gotten back down. I called out his name, but he wouldn't reply, so I climbed another tree to get a better view. Then I saw him, but the weird thing was, I saw him wearing a bear costume! That was quite odd. He came up to the tree and started swiping at it with his claws, and then I started hearing him call out to me from the distance. Turns out, it wasn't bro who was swiping at the tree, and it wasn't no furry either! The swiping didn't seem to be fun to the bear, 'cause it began to climb up the tree. At that point I figured that was some challenge. I mean, it was a darn bear! So I got out RADdish and told 'im to start Absorbing. By the time the bear reached our height in the tree (Draven tried to distract it by throwing rocks at the ground, but it seemed focused), I figured RADdish might be getting a bit scared from the big thing getting so close, so I get down on my haunches and get close to it and tell 'im: "Okay RADdish, I know this looks scary, I know that thing is twice our size and that it's prolly gonna cut us up real good in a sec, but right now, I just got one thing to say to you: Absorb the sheeeyit outta 'im!

And he did. And the bear then cut up RADdish like it was nothing. He looked pretty beat already though, so I got Flame out and told him to Tackle it. It worked pretty good, but the bear got him like it had gotten RADdish. Draven was yelling at me to jump, but if there's one leap I was going to take, it'd be a leap of faith! I took out a ball, threw it at the bear and BAM! Some kinda laser flash thingy or something deflected the ball! Then right as the beast tried to come out me, another flash and it fell down. Huh. That was weird.

I collected my ball and then checked out the bear, after I'd gotten out the tree of course. Yep, clean and fainted, he was. Then some guy shows up and says he was just in time to save us. I coulda gotten that bear! I don't know what he's talking about, pff.

Anyway, all of a sudden this Pokemon appears next to him out of fricken nowhere. Draven of course brings out his Pokedex to scan it and reminds me I should do too. I have a Dex?! What is this MADNESS?!

Turns out it was a Scizor, and with a closer look at the guy, he seemed kind of familiar. He told us his name was Bugsy, which sounded vaguely familiar. He was the former Gym Leader of Azalea Town, apparently. These days, only on Saturdays apparently. Sounds like a challenge...

Considering I was out of Pokemon, and for some reason Draven's Oddish had fainted as well, we followed Bugsy out of the forest and went to the PokeCenter. Bro didn't hand over Shadow, since he was in pretty okay shape still, and after we'd eaten dinner he wanted to go out to the fields on the other side of town to try it again. Catch or fight some Pokemon. Well, I thought I'd better follow him, 'cause he's my little bro, and I was darn right to! We came across a Poochyena, and when Shadow's Tackle missed it, it done right knocked him out cold right away! I decided to show bro how a real pro goes, so I whipped out a ball and threw it at the thing.

DING, baby! Right a hit! Man, I'm good.

Anyway, we're gonna hit the hay. We'll see what happens tomorrow after we get the Pokes from the Center.

Gained
Darius: Poochyena!
Draven: +1 level for Shadow!
