Flag of Inside, flown over all Remnant and Government Installations

Current Events: CHAOS! SINKHOLES! ZERG! PONIES! HOLY COW!

Children are being kidnapped from all over the city by nefarious forces. What could they be up to?

The title is a misnomer, of course. No doubt the moniker of this place was settled on after a brief conversation that started with, 'Wouldn't it be funny if...?'. But now the name has stuck.

But what is this place, you ask?

Inside is everything within the City Walls. As opposed to Outside, which is everything without. This strange, whimsical city seems to be the center of a planar Nexus, a crossing point between all possible worlds. One can find just about anything in this wondrous place, dreams that defy imagination and terrors that freeze the soul. People and whole places are regularly drawn into the Nexus, added to the chaotic melting pot of all possible realities.

And more than a few realities that aren't possible.

The city is surrounded by defensive walls, with an artificially and accidentally created moat outside the walls, a moat that has been diverted into a river-channel for one many bodies of water flowing through Inside. A gap in the walls and a bridge allow for entrance into the city proper, the main gate opening up to welcome newcomers Inside.

Welcome, traveler, to the City of Inside. The only boundaries you find within are the bounds of your own imagination.

Rules, Zones, Streets, and Locations

Rules

1:Please Spoiler any Fanservice in this thread! It is accepted that there will of course be some, and that romance and curtains happen. However, please be courteous to others and spoiler any scene that goes on for a little while, and if it reaches the point, curtain. This is so you can stay within forum rules, as well as letting those uninterested in the scene, pass by. Thank you.

2:Godmodding is not permissible! As stated in the rules in the FFRP Central Thread, (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166066), godmodding is generally not allowed without permission. If you're shaky on what might be, and what might not be godmodding, please follow the above link.

3:The DOOM-Shield. Inside is currently equipped with a techno-magic shield that mitigates "global" effects to a survivable level. This is to prevent anyone from simply killing all the NPCs, or affecting the entire city. For example, a plot that envelops the entire city in sub-arctic temperatures, will find that the cold isn't as bad as it should be, and survivable.

4:Remnant. Please remember when doing any plots or large events, that even though it has it's own thread, Remnant (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211872), the Inside Police Force and Army, is located in Inside, and may respond to events, or may be asked to respond to them. More information on them will be provided later.

4:All Inside-Wide/Nexus-Wide plots need to be brought up in OOC first! We all want to have the entire city be cast into a frozen wasteland from time to time, but such things need to be brought up in OOC first, to allow players plenty of warning, and so people don't feel like anything is being forced upon them that they don't want to RP.

5:Inside is not Space! Anything involving massive spaceships, meteors, satellites, Lasers From Space, and the like, do not belong in this thread. Few PCs have the ability to fight off an orbital bombardment, so it is considered unfair to be able to call down such things inside Inside. It can be assumed that the Doom Shield prevents such things from occurring. The place for these sorts of things should be in Outside, or another thread all together.

Zones, Streets, and Locations

Please PM Rebonack to have a new location placed in this registry.

Zones:

In the Zone(s): The City of Inside is separated into three socioeconomic zones color-coded for your convenience.

The Blue Zone is upper-class, well to do portions of Inside.

The Grey Zone is the portion of the City that is middle-class. It also includes many commercial and industrial portions of the City.

The Red Zone is the of the City that is degenerate, destitute, or downright dangerous. Sometimes all of the above.

Streets:

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Generic Street? The City of Inside also has a number of Streets. The Streets aren't a street in the literal sense, but rather portions of the City with a particular theme. While one can find anything anywhere in the City there are none the less areas were certain settings predominate.

If you have an idea for a Street feel free to suggest it in the OOC thread.

Known Streets:

Generic Street: The generically modern setting! Generic Street is perhaps the most plastic of the Streets, displaying a decent mix of all settings, though modern predominates. Generally speaking most locations without a Street name will be found here. The most commonly seen locations here are the Streets and the Slums. Occasionally The Rooftops if someone is feeling daring.

Arkham Street: Spanning 1920s-1940s style sci-fi and horror, Arkham Street is home of such spooky locations as Philip Memorial Library, the haunted Carter House, and Dunwich Park. The more upscale portion of Arkham Street is known as Metropolis Square, a metropolitan area sporting Diesel Punk style robots and rayguns and mad scientists oh my!

Cirrus Street: Cirrus Street is the FUTURE! sci-fi portion of Inside. Most commonly seen are the post-apocalyptic Bombed Out Zone with its never-ending zombie vs Martian vs killbot vs mutant war and the hopeless squalor of the Underhive. In addition to these areas there's also the chrome and glass clad Skyway. Think Jetsons with more foot-paths. Repulser Trams connect the Skyway to other portions of Inside for those not blessed with flying cars.

Market Street: Market Street is the ye olde portion of Inside, complete with bards, fools, open market places, and the occasional damsel in distress. While products of any age can be found in the sprawling street booths everything is done ye olde style-e. If you need a chase scene to crash through a fruit-cart this is the place to do it.

Yellow Dog

At the edge of the city of Inside, a unique street marks the border between the wilderness and the world of men. Two rows of wooden buildings stare at one another from across the sides of a dusty, unpaved street. The dark brown wood is bare, held in place with rough nails, only the occasional brightly painted sign relieving the earth tone monotony. This street is called Yellow Dog, and it is a little mining town right out of the Old West.

Well, not quite right out of the Old West. You see, anything and anyone that has even a little to do with the West comes to Yellow Dog. It doesn't matter what kind of West you're from; a Fantasy West with dragons and demons, a Steampunk West with stompy mechs powered by cloud benching coal furnaces, a Samurai West were a man's sword is as trusted as his six-gun, a post apocalyptic or futuristic West were revolvers come in laser form and the horses are robots; heck, even folks from just the plain old regular West are welcome here, and they don't mind strangers round these parts. This is a place were a gaggle of fur trappers and buffalo hunters haggle with a squid faced merchant about the worth of their haul. This is a street where dwarf and gnome gold miners walk into town, comparing the size of the nuggets they've panned from the rivers as they head towards the saloon. This is a place where you can pass a man dressed like a Union Cavalry Officer talking with a robot cowboy on a steel horse. You can walk down the way and pass a mysterious man who greets you with a "Konnichiwa, pardner.", as his samurai sword rattles lightly against his holstered pistol. Gunslingers, cowpokes, gamblers, bandits, prospectors, pioneers, profiteers, preachers, snake oil salesmen, trappers, hunters, townsfolk, wildmen, and things much weirder all mingle along this dusty lane.

Welcome to Yellow Dog, pilgrim. Enjoy your stay.

Locations:
Azik's Enchantments(Player: Harnel, Grey Zone)

Those in the area will hear a rumbling as the Nexus begins pulling in something larger than just a single person. Reality bends, and the shape of portal opens above a certain street corner. For a sickening moment, nothing happens, but then things start coming out of the portal - all of them are bricks, building up finally to a door and a roof, with tiny windows built in. There's even a large chimney sticking out of the center of this strange, conical building that begins puffing rainbow smoke almost immediately.

A creature steps out the front door, though many wouldn't consider it a creature - He is a warforged, a living golem. Covered in what appears to be adamantine plates, he looks up and down the street, his longcoat catching in the breeze. as it flutters, one can see a multitude of wands, schema, and scrolls all attached to several belts around his waist and upper legs. On his eyes he wears a pair of blue tinted shades, despite his lack of ears, and the metal orbs that serve as his eyes glow green behind these spectacles. He looks up and down the street. He doesn't seem to be particularly disturbed by the change in location, but he does take the time to call out, in a metallic voice:

"Azik's Enchantments is open for business! Come find a potion, a wand, a scroll to fit any need! We have spellbooks for beginners and experts! Weapons of all shapes and sizes, and armor unlike anything you've ever seen! Come find what you're looking for here!"

And then he heads back inside. So much work, so little time. Inside is as strange as outside, with magic trinkets lining the walls on shelves, but all behind the counter, to keep any stupid kid with the idea to steal something from doing so. You can find just about anything magical here, and that which you can't find, Azik the Warforged can make within a more than reasonable timeframe.

Emergency Bunkers

Eight bunker-like structures in a ring-like arrangement at about the midpoint between the walls (or the docks) and the center of the city have been completed.

The interior of each is rather dull, rather befitting a bunker, but there are underground areas beneath the visible bunkers. These are similarly dull and military-styled, but they also act as hospitals.

These are mostly designed with emergencies such as shelling in mind, and are usually closed.

Emergency Clinics
Like the bunkers the clinics are spread through-out the City and are equipped with technology akin to a modern emergency room. Since there's no magical healing available the speed of recovery is going to be noticeably lower than what is available at one of Inside's many temples. However their availability makes them absolutely vital in the application of life-saving care.

Erin's Emporium (Player: The Bushranger, Grey Zone)

Construction Gnomes have been hard at work renovating a small store along one of the various merchantile roads. Well, it was small. Now it's bigger on the inside.

And filled with every sort of weaponry imaginable, from across the multiverse. From blaster carbines to P-90s, surface-to-air missiles to ballistas, zats to nunchucks, they're all here.

Is that a siege crossbow sitting in the corner?

Evolution Industries Headquarters + Factories (Player: Darkcomet, Blue Zone)
The headquarters of the company known as Evolution Electronics and Power is a fairly standard-looking modern-day tower in appearance, not quite reaching the level of skyscraper.

The company owns a large factory nearby, used in production of its MACE units, and potentially other products, should it be desired.

The company also possesses a number of other factories around the city, used for production of weaponry and other military materiel.

Retail outlets for Evolution's products are scattered around the city.

Finders Keepers (Player: Reinholdt)

[Gray Zone]

Sitting right near the edge of the Red Zone, a new shop has opened up. It's a basic looking office, part of a larger building. Out front is a sign,

FINDERS KEEPERS*
We find missing people, kidnapees, deadtime victims and more.

*And no we don't actually keep them. It's just a name.

Inside, is a secretary typing away at a typewriter. She directs customers to wait until their turn, at which point she sends them back to meet the shop owner, one Heinrik Hurtz. He is most clearly not related to any superheroes whatsoever. This is a fact in and of itself, proven clearly by the fact that Heinrik wears glasses.

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq276/Reinholdt9000/Gaia/HeinrikHurtz.png

Hastings and Sons Mortuary (player: Kid Kris, Grey Zone)
Near one of the older parts of the city sits a large and somewhat dour building of brick and mortar, built in the traditional sense, with a metal plaque by the door that reads (predictably enough):

Hastings and Sons
MORTUARY
For the preparation of the dearly departed.
And indeed, should one go in one should find all the trappings of a conventional mortuary, including several large visitation rooms, run by this guy:

http://public5.tektek.org/img/av/1008/d05/2213/715a669.png (http://tektek.org/avatar/38746382)
Though of course, usually without the zombie there.
In recent times however, the true business of the resident Mortician has branched into a more heretical bent, offering certain services to the living impaired (more commonly known as the foul Undead). These start at simple healings and flesh grafts (the flesh occasionally obtained 'legitimately', when a body comes in for cremation and the Mortician gives them an urn full of wood-ash, but usually corpses are obtained through donations from customers or good old fashioned grave-robbing). But services can also range into body part replacement and augmentation for the undead who wishes his creator had seen fight to give him a giant lobster claw or retractable venomous spines, or even full body/flesh reconstruction for the self-conscious lich (or lich in disguise, though making your new flesh look like someone else usually costs extra) or the zombie in his golden years. These customers usually come in through the back door, where there is a plaque listing the full list of services. Though of course some are brazen enough to come through the front door anyway.

((PM if you wish to interact with the Mortician, as Kid Kris may not always check the thread.))

MagMart (Player: Lord Magtok, Blue Zone)
An absurd mash-up of K-Mart, Wall-Mart, Target, and every other vile retail chain, MagMart is staffed by an unswervingly loyal Magbots, lobotomized talking cats that are too brain-dead to know any better, several voodoo spirits, and a pickle jar that everyone insists is a sentient being that only communes with those who truly believe in it.

Here you can find everything from curtains to carpets, macaroni to monkeys on motorcycles, groceries to zombies. The staff is always happy to help (or else), and if you aren't entirely satisfied with your shopping experience, you can pay a small fee to watch the MagMart employee of your choosing get fired out the MagMart complimentary employee morale cannon.

Magnificus Theater (Red Zone)
This large theater is an attempt to bring culture to the city of the Inside. Plays are regularly show here, and if desired other events can be held here.

The walls of the theater are colored with three shades of blue in a wave pattern. Inside the theater are a pair of grand staircases, with the railing colored gold, while the stone of the stairs is white. The stage itself is one of the largest in the Nexus, carefully designed for the greatest enjoyment.

Rules: Please, no violence. If you must have some violent action in a theater, pm me first.

Sable Spire (Blue Zone)
A great, black-colored tower now stands at the highest point of the Skyway. Appearing mostly similar to a modern-day skyscraper, albeit more futuristic, reinforced, and armored. Upon close examination, some parts of the tower appear to conceal compartments of some sort, likely something along the lines of concealed defensive turrets. the top portion of the tower is rather different in appearance.

It appears as a truly massive hatch, similar to what one might see over a missile silo under normal circumstances.

This hatch opens into the landing area of the aerial aircraft carrier Sanctuary, the main asset of the Altaran Irregulars. Said landing area is set to act as an elevator, capable of moving up to the top of the tower or moving back down to conceal whatever is landed (usually the aforementioned carrier) under the heavily armored hatch.

The Spire, constructed by Remnant in an alliance with the Altaran Irregulars, is now a major base for the the latter, who currently act alongside Remnant in protecting the city. Their troops largely use the same equipment as Remnant's, but use the old Imperial black-and-navy color scheme to distinguish themselves.

The Misspelled Cemetary (Grey Zone)
It's the rain that makes for the perfect atmosphere.

Since the party left the well lit cobbles lanes of the Market Streets the sky has opened up upon our intrepid band of adventurers with a vengeance. The wind howls through barren trees as the rain descends in sheets. The heavens are split by a ribbon of lightning and a roar of thunder.

A massive cast iron gate surrounds this place of once hallowed ground. Yes, hallowed once but no longer. The earth appears dead. Rotten. A phosphorescent green fog creeping along the ground. Misshapen fungus and molds clinging to crumbling monuments. Corpses exposed on the surface, half-eaten with decay.

The gate creeks open of its own accord as the party nears.

And above the gate, in rusted iron letters, reads:

The Misspelled Cemetary

The The Temperance Teahouse (Grey Zone) Owned by Artemis

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1783/temperanceteahouse3xphde.png

http://www.valleyofisk.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/teahouse.jpg

In an old section of the city stands a wooden building of ancient construction. From inside comes the sound of good conversation and, occasionally, music being played. The scents of exotic teas, spices, and good foods drift out onto the street. along with the scents and sounds come an aura of peace and comfort. It's a nice place here, you could definitely stick around for a while, to escape the general madness of the city.

Two wings extend out from the main building. To the north (the right side as you face the tea house) is an extension of the main structure, still made of wood, the architecture is slightly different and more brightly colored, and also noticeably newer. The west side of the building is surrounded by a stone wall, enclosing a garden. The garden ends at a low stone building running the length of the west wall.

[Restaurant]Inside the restaurant is filled with tables and chairs, spread out across the dark hardwood floors. Thick wooden pillars support the second floor and the roof, their tops carved with geometric designs. At the north side of the restaurant is a long counter, surrounding an open kitchen. Steam and smoke drift up from the fires and the woks used for cooking. A shelf along the back wall is filled with dozens of tins, each containing a particular tea or herbal blend. Interspersed among them are tea kettles, each one used to brew a particular type of tea.

The center of the restaurant is open to the second floor. Stairs lead up to more seating on the second level, which looks down on the restaurant below over carved wooden balconies. The ceiling above the open space is painted with a mural of a golden dragon floating through the clouds and circling the sun.

Seats on the west side of the building go fast, as they offer the best view of the gardens. The south and east sides offer views of the bustling streets below. The north side of the second floor has no windows and sits above the kitchen, so it is often darker and smokier than the rest of the restaurant.

[North Wing]The north wing of the restaurant is of newer construction. It is more brightly painted and more heavily decorated than the main restaurant. Two doorways on each floor lead to a U shaped hallway that runs through the north wing. Sliding paper screens from the inner walls, so that they can be slid aside and make the spaces much larger. The lower floor holds private rooms that can be reserved for larger parties or special meetings. These rooms typically have a long low table surrounded by cushions. The second floor rooms have more flexible floor plans. Most have tables and chairs, often used to host card or board games. A few can be rented out for sleeping quarters, but patrons are reminded that the walls are, literally, paper thin. Disruptive behavior will have you evicted without a refund.

[Garden]The west wing of the tea house is a large garden surrounded by stone wall. A circular gate leads directly from the garden to the streets, as well as doors leading into the restaurant. The garden itself is carefully kept, trees and bushes trained and cut into pleasing shapes. Stone lanterns and statues decorate the garden. Two pools filled with koi fish sit diagonally from one another, connected together by a stream filled with river rocks. The sound of trickling water fills the garden. A winding path leads through the garden and over a low stone bridge. On the far side of the bridge, the path passes through another circular gate guarded by two stone dragons on plinths. the pair stare down at any visitors, questioning their intentions in passing through their gate.

Beyond the Dragon Gate the path becomes perfectly straight. On either side are large black stones surrounded by carefully raked white sand. The path passes under a red Torii gate before encountering the low stone building at the far side of the garden. The building runs the full length of the west wall and is open to the garden. Large prayer wheels line the opening and are turned by the breeze or visiting people. The walls within the building are heavily decorated and covered in hanging scrolls. At the center of the building is a shrine, covered in candles. Behind it is a mural depicting scenes of a warrior, a golden dragon, and the sun. Sitting on the shrine a wooden statue of a warrior, sitting in meditation, his sword set aside. The wood is lacquered and carefully inlaid with delicate patterns in gold. From the statue emanates a strong aura of peace, which spreads throughout the entire property.

NPCsHideki - A large man with a red face and a long nose, he is most often found in the kitchen, cooking up tasty things.
Hanako - An older woman, her black hair streaked with grey. She is Hideki's wife and most often found behind the counter serving tea.
Sakura - A lovely young woman and the daughter of Hideki and Hanako. She acts as a waitress and sometimes plays music.

OOC: Please Read. Important information.
The Teahouse and garden are protected by an aura of non-violence. Violent acts cannot be committed here. You cannot attack another patron or do anything that would cause them bodily harm. Anyone who attempts it will find it extremely hard to convince themselves to do it. If a particularly willful person overcomes this compulsion, something in the environment will intervene, as if by seemingly random chance, to protect their victim as if by divine intervention. Because that's exactly what it is.

Needle and Thread (Blue Zone, Player: Artemis97)
On one side of a wide cobblestoned street is a small shop. The sign hanging over the door depicts a simple spool of thread, pierced by a needle. No words were included, as a courtesy to those who could not read, nor were they needed. It was clear from the merchandise displayed in the two large windows on either side of the door that this was a clothing boutique. The right side displayed the latest in women's fashions, dresses and skirts in unique designs, all detailed by hand with beading and embroidery. The left window showed men's clothing, from a beautifully tailored three piece suit, cut from expensive fabrics, to the very best in adventuring style, rugged and sturdy, clearly built to last.

Inside, racks and manequins display more clothing, split down the middle between men's and women's fashions. The back wall held rolls of fabric, some plain, others with obviously magical properties. A large, three-sided mirror sits in the back corner, next to a small changing stall. On the other side is a small counter holding a cash register, behind that the door that led to a small workroom.

The Needle and Thread is a clothing shop specializing in custom tailoring and specialty designs. It is owned and operated by Lillith Rock, and the kindly fiendish woman can usually be found behind the counter, or working on orders in the back workroom.

Pontius' Custom Constructs (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The caravan of 6 wagons (I never said 3! Well, I did, but still.) arrives at a warehouse, previously for sale. The gnomes lead the golems and other constructs inside, and get to work. The warehouse has an open yard at the main entrance, and several golems, like crude figures of worked stone or wood, stand in the yard. A gnome wearing an apron over smart-yet-practical artesan's clothes and puts a sign up.

Sanctuary Fortress of Zoemaytare (Player: Rebonack, Red Zone)

Like so many other prominent buildings in Town, or not so prominent buildings for that matter, this place seemed to pop up out of nowhere over night.

Buildings are like mushrooms in Town. Probably spread via spores, too.

Regardless, here it is. A rather sizable campus marble hewn from the mountains some distance away. Carved and hauled here near the edge of the slums where they were no doubt assembled. Though... no one can quite place a finger on when this happened.

Though the buildings aren't of only cold hard stone, no. There are timbers as well. Not what one might expect, however. They seem almost organic. As though they had grown into place rather than being hewn.

Oddness aside, the temple is arranged in a rather interesting fashion. Several concentric wall and courtyards ending in a central temple.

The outer wall is lower than the rest, each tier of the temple built onto higher ground like a wedding cake. Each wall is topped with a roof supported on the inside by pillars, creating a sheltered walkway. The exact use of these porches depends on the section of the temple one happens to be in.

Anyone is allowed entry through the first wall and into the first court, the Court of Meeting. Beyond the second wall only worshipers of Zoemaytare are allowed admittance to the second court, the Court of the Blessed. Beyond the third wall only the priests are allowed, where they carry out holy rituals within the temple itself.

The Court of Meeting is dedicated to service of those the worshipers of Zoemaytare dwell among. Food is prepared for the hungry here and given out without expectation of recompense. Those without a place to lay their head are allowed to sleep within the porch. The grounds beyond the porch are devoted to a wondrous garden boasting vibrancy and spectacular color. This are is always comfortably warm and brimming with life. Wounds heal faster as the body is refreshed. Undead creatures will find that remaining here is decidedly uncomfortable.

The sky above the temple seems to be perpetually clear, filled with pleasant sunlight in the day and cloaked with gossamer stars at night. Benches are set up here and there, under trees with hanging branches and above fragrant shrubbery. A lively stream flows endlessly in a circuit about the Court, spilling into several larger pools and meandering up a small outcrop of stone before cascading back down the other side.

This section of the temple is tended by members of the faith. Not priests, though devote. They can be found tending the garden and serving warm food. When in service to the temple these devotees wear a white linen ephod bearing the symbol of a willow tree, ornately rendered in blue thread. They'll be more than happen to answer any questions. Priests tend to have stricter ceremonial garb, including a blue tunic and white robe in addition to the ephod.

Welcome, traveler. May you be more blessed when you leave than when you came.

New information that isn't readily noticeable at first glance at the temple will be added here.

The temple grounds are protected by a dampening field that blocks unauthorized teleporation and dimensional shifting. The place is something of a fortress after all. Being able to pop in and out at will would defeat the purpose.

Zoemaytare isn't a god of (fill in the black) but rather the patron and protector of her people. As such, her domain, if she even has one, is over all that her people do. The people in question are collectively known as the Zoeos, and this particular temple is their first major venture into Town. At present their stated goal is to set up trade relations and aid the city. This is ministered through the temple on account of the Zoeos government being a theocracy.

It just so happens that there's a dungeon under the temple, though the entrance to it is well hidden.

NPCs thus far:

Potentate of the temple: the head priest and administrator. He has yet to be seen 'on screen' though he has been referred to.

Regent Zachius: And elderly human with a coppery complexion and deep-set wrinkles, the sort of face one expects of a person who has spent a great deal of time in the sun smiling. He's a kind old fellow who is in charge of the Court of Meeting.

Regent Stephen: A younger human who smells rather distinctly of wolf. He's in charge of the dungeons of the temple and seems to be a rather caring and compassionate fellow. It's his job to bring the cases of prisoners before the Potentate.

Regent Thadeus: One of the priests who aids in minor upkeep in the temple proper. He usually isn't seen outside the temple and since his position doesn't put him in much contact with the common folk he tends to be somewhat aloof and judgmental. Also happens to be an elf. Those snooty elves!

Bognus Thundershield: a lay dwarf that operates the temple's teleporter, primarily from Trog's. Though people can be 'ported in from elsewhere as well. While it isn't commonly known, this device can send people over rather long distances, though it's somewhat inaccurate when doing so. Bognus is a bit gruff, though generally good natured. He speaks with a thick Scottish Dwarven accent.

St. Guinevere's Sanatorium for Lunatics and Object Seekers (Player: Anyone, Gray Zone)
This insane asylum exists for people questing after Objects from the Holders Mythos. Anyone can run an Object quest, but please look at the community agreed guidelines first (http://tinyurl.com/5w42x5c) as it helps keep things consistent.

If you want to use the Sanatorium for other uses, feel free, but expect it to be a house of unspeakable horrors. :smalltongue:

The Sitar's Strings
"By humans, for humans". This restaurant employees only humans and only serves human customers. It is a meeting place for the human supremacist movement. IC Owned by Brian Starling and managed by Jan Lamar. Non-humans with good disguises can get in without being challenged.

Players: (HT as owner/manager, C'nor as waitress Maeve, Mindfreak as entertainer Treb)

The Temple of Dalachrech (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The first room entered is a foyer. On the walls are red drapes with silver, two-tailed scorpions embroidered on to them, and next to the door is an ornate font. The granite font stands about waist height, and is a plinth with a bowl of unholy water. Winding around the font are carved centipedes. A door away from this chamber leads to the main prayer hall. This room also has drapes with the two-tailed scorpion device on the walls, and a red velvet carpet flanked by wooden pews leads to an altar at the far end. The altar is covered with red velvet, with a gold statue and red candles placed upon it. The statue depicts a demon with a centipede's body, a scorpion's tail with spinnerets next to the sting, a stag beetle's head and the claws of a praying mantis.

This is a hidden location in the Grey Zone. Please PM Earl of Purple if you wish to interract there. The Temple is now open to the public.

Trollfinger, Ironpick & Greencheek, Mining & Engineering (Player: Morty, Blue Zone)
A run-down building near Trog's Tavern was bought by three goblin enterpreneurs with a large crew and now houses their mining and engineering company. Everyone who needs something dug, built, repaired or blown up is welcome.

Warwick Works (player: happyturtle, Grey Zone)
In the industrial area, a building is rented and has a new sign put out front.

W
Warwick Works

The building itself consists of a small office area in front and warehouses in back. There is no indication of what sort of business this is, but a certain cyborg with a satellite might recognize the logo and name.

Witch Which's Wish Shop (Grey, Player: Haruki-kun)

Welcome. If you have stepped into this store, it is because you have a wish.

The store is big, ancient and beautiful. It has a large garden with colorful flowers, a pond with fish and running water, and chirping birds. This is the outside of the store. The inside, however, is, to put it simply, gloomy. There’s burning candles and incense everywhere. From the hall where you enter you are led off into a side room with a low table and cushions around it. A tall, masked and unnamed stranger brings tea and snacks to the guests. The Witch sits opposite and rarely ever moves.

RULES (OOC):
This is a Wish shop. Your character will only enter this shop if he has a wish. Whether the wish is granted or not is a different issue.
Witch Which is in charge of the shop and will grant wishes to everyone who asks, regardless of intent or alignment, as long as the appropriate price is paid. Under certain conditions:

Condition one: Witch Which will not haggle. She couldn’t lower a price or overcharge even if she wanted to. A balance must be kept in order for the wish to be granted.

Condition two: When a Wish directly affects another player’s character in a way that would be considered godmodding, the other player must agree first.

Condition three: The Witch may not reject any wish unless the price is too high to be paid. Wishes to take a life or to destroy the world, for example, carry a price higher than anyone can pay. ANYONE.

Condition Four: The Witch will never engage in battle. Be glad. The Witch is the very definition of True Neutral.

Condition Five: The store is not hard to access; in fact, there’s a big sign outside and everything. However, the store’s grounds exist in a special separate dimension, protecting it from anything that could destroy it, up to and including plot.

Condition Six: Haruki-kun reserves the right to alter the conditions if he feels they’re causing problems such as godmodding or similar issues.

(Haruki-Kun wishes for a PM to be sent to him upon someone entering the shop so he knows about it.)

Inside's Defenses, Remnant, and The Council

Defenses

As stated above, the city of Inside is defended by the Walls, Moat and DOOM-Shield, but it is also defended by a more "mundane" force field that can be called upon in times of need, as well as a number of more conventional defensive capabilities, nearly all of which are manned and controlled by Remnant(Controlled for the most part by Wolfbane). These include things from Emergency Bunkers, Relief Stations, Anti-Aircraft Cannon, and the like.

Remnant

As stated before, Remnant is Inside's police force, army, and main defensive body. It is made up of the remains of what was once the Acronymian Empire, and consists of hundreds of men, women, and machines, both soldier and civilian, sacrificing their daily lives and time to make sure the city of Inside is relatively safe for it's citizens. There are Remnant Outposts all throughout the city, with the main HQ in Blue Zone, and less Outposts in Red Zone. These can be reached fairly easily, and allow people to report crimes, turn in criminals, collect bounties, and even ask to be recruited. Remnant controls most of Inside's defenses, but also controls Rapid Response Units capable of stopping fires, providing emergency medical aide, and even disaster relief to clean up debris and fix buildings and roads damaged by the day to day events of Inside.

Squads of Remnants patrol the streets "every so often" and should anyone need one, can interact with them(Please PM Wolfbane upon doing so, however).

As a note, Low-Level Remnants can be Godmodded! They can be assumed to fight the fires that pop up, but can also be asked to provide basic information. This also means that they can be bribed for less well-known information such as someone's name and rank, or to look the other way for a small crime, such as theft. Anything more, please PM Wolfbane to let him know, in case there is something that needs clarified. The Remnants can be godmodded to be killed on occasion, but if it happens too fast, too often, Wolfbane may step in and RP it out. Once again, please PM Wolfbane if you plan on killing a Remnant NPC.

What is NOT Godmoddable:

-Getting Security Codes
-Accessing Secure Areas
-Killing off more than one or two NPCs at a time, or killing a Named Remnant NPC/PC
-Stealing Identities
-Destroying Remnant facilities

It is not impossible for these to happen, but with proper warning provided to Wolfbane, it can be RP'd out and attempted. However, it should be noted that only Low-Ranking Remnants can be Godmodded in this way.

Council

The Council (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195380) is the "ruling" body of Inside. A small group of individuals reside on it, and decide Inside Policy. People can go here for diplomatic relations, trials, or other activities that may concern dealing with an actual government instead of a police force or army.

"Fine, fine. He's a Perfectly Legitimate Businessman then," Jamie says, nodding a bit. Of course, she understands - she'd do the same if somebody dissed Toby. :smalltongue: "And I've never used necromancy. So there!"

Raspberry time!

But as she hears Sayuri's quiet comment, she frowns, all joviality gone. "...oh."
And Sayuri might find herself receiving one (1) hug!

[Market Zone]

Char exhales and gets out of her aggressive stance. "Wow. Yeah, um, I'm sorry about that. Guess I went a bit nuts." She says, calming down. If hugging occurs, then Char will stand there awkwardly for a bit before joining in.

[Market Zone]

Sayuri gives Char a bright grin. "Oh, it's okay. We all can get angry some-"

Her last word is cut off by Jamie and Char's sudden hugs! With a small squeak of surprise, she silently accepts both. A faint smile slowly spreads across her face. "...thank you."

Sam suddenly feels the exhaustion of walking around the whole day and wholeheartedly nods.
Jake nods. "Of course. The room's for one person, but the bed should be big enough for the two of you." He gets the keycard from his pocket. "Here you go." The room number, 3, is shown in bright red on the card. Jake smiled. "God, I still haven't gotten any rest myself. You mind if I sleep on the floor? I know how sensitive some girls are about sleeping in the same room as guys."

Skyfellow's

Hikari shrugs nonchalantly. "Meh, I don't mind if Sam doesn't. Never really seen what's so bad about it. Come on!" She takes the keycard from Jake and begins to drag the pair up the stairs to the room.

He takes a closer look at the Shroomish.

"And you're certainly a cute little feller," Kenyon cautiously attempts to lift the creature.

Shroomy doesn't object to being picked up. "Shroom shroom." Or at least, if he was protesting, Kenyon probably wouldn't be able to tell.

"I'm not really sure how pokeballs work. They're supposed to be really complicated." Becca shrugs, it doesn't really concern her. Just as long as they work. "His name's Shroomy."

Riftside - Within the Glow

The stiltwalker, as he gets closer to it, seems a lot bigger than it was from a distance. Of course, since it's outside the threshold of the park moving past that point causes him to snap back to the psychedelic dreamland that is the Inside that's outside the park rather than get close enough to land on it, but just before he does he manages to see it turn to look directly at him and fire one of its weapons in his direction. Thankfully the projectile passes through another plane of existence and is extremely unlikely to harm him.

So now the park and its sphere are behind him and he's no closer to learning what that speck was. If he bothered to extend his non-physical senses he might realize what Charity already has about the sphere losing some of its forcefield because of the approaching Entity, but otherwise he'll be no closer to solving this puzzle unless he does something.

Best to try another approach, then. Needs tries to find somewhere out of the way, without anything likely to try to kill him, before tearing his way right out of his own body. Our MagClone abruptly falls to the ground, quaking as if he'd suddenly suffered a stroke. A minute or so passes, before a massive, ectoplasmic, two-headed centipede emerges from his forehead, clicking and hissing as it leaves its old body behind. A brief rune is left on the inert body, meant to ward away predators, before our newly insectoid Needs-ghost skitters away.

Stagnation. Order. Stability. These are anathema to us. Why are we forcing these things on this paradise?! Because your little man with the metal face said so? He is NOTHING to us! I could eat him! You know that I could! Say that I could!

You could. But what if you can't?

I CAN!

There's more of him than there is of you. You could eat one, maybe ten, but could you get them all? And he's smarter than you, you know. He learns quick. What if he finds your kryptonite after the first thirteen? What if he already knows what it is?

WE DON'T NEED HIM! WE DON'T WANT HIM!

He has done nothing but care and provide for you. There's more to life than what you want. Stay the course.

I'm nobody's flying ship, no mortal's slave! A day will come when every one of your blasphemers will suffer for this!

Yes, but today is not that day. Stay the course.

Grumbling to itself, the two-headed eldritch centipede continues, extending further and further, never quite leaving Needs' forehead no matter how far away it moves. It shunts right out of the physical plane, observing the arcane underpinnings and magical energies as only a proper native of such alien forces can. It tries to crawl all over and around the rift's forcefield, feeling around with itty-bitty carapaced legs and antennae for cracks, holes, or any other points that might allow Needs through, if proper force/squiggling was applied.

Well that wasn't an entirely non-clever line, but it wasn't exactly inspired either. But boy is he staring. I don't think he's got anything to lose here, actually. Patty may want to leave.

Patty hesitates, then turns, and sprints off as best she can under the conditions, selecting a fire escape this time for a temporary refuge! At least this way she knows there's nobody there...

"Allergies," Needs concludes, in the manner of a medical professional who's studied this sort of thing all his life. Yep, there we go again, blaming the victim instead of acknowledging his own culpability! If ever there was doubt Needs was a true MagClone, it should be gone now!

"Auditory capabilities have seized up, mistaking harmless dosage of eldritch energies for something more serious. Will try harder to shut up next time. Condition often caused by genetics, contracts with anthropomorphic octopus women, upsetting Romanians, or quirk of fate. Recommend removal of any and all Lovecraftian imagery from daily life, nightly application of dispel curse magicks, service animals capable of mind-reading and speech until symptoms fade. Should muteness persist for longer than three days after initial auditory incident, faerie wishes, mind-altering substances, true love recommended as possible remedies. Not simultaneously, however."

He pulls the bone away, and presses it between his hands, collapsing the femur as if it were a toy lightsaber or baton or something else that would make sense, collapsing on itself like that.

Tracey translates everything Needs said to "You're allergic to magic and should get a remove curse spell and a hearing ear monkey."

Maybe not at all! Who knows!

Stay tuned to find out.
Well, Enshadu is not moving. He stays there, his insides repairing themselves, albeit very slowly. It'll be a few hours before he can wake up and reactivate the system. However the E-chip, whcih controls his mind, is very much alive.

[Rocket Man]

...
Fly-by pilfering time!
Reinholdt intends to sort of bodily slam into Enshadu. It's a stupid move that shouldn't do any damage.
Of course, since his goal is to essentially pick-pocket the metal man of one sphere holding a goddess and replace it with another sphere so he doesn't immediately notice the switch, the move isn't all that pointless. Of course, the point of such a thing is to get in and out quickly, so he'll try to move out of the way just as fast after attempting his grabbing.

It's a loot-and-run.

Well, as he reaches into the robots pocket, he'll be attacked by the E-chip, attempting to take over Reinholdt's mind temporarily, seeing as it's current body is repairing itself and will be for a while. It will slam every bit of it's dominating powers of the mind to take over Reinholdt's body, a desperate attempt to escape once more. He'll hear a voice in his mind. Sleep, go to sleep. You are mine. However, he does grab the diamond, but the massive amount of will trying to dominate him might stop him from doing anything further.

Obligatory Sewer Level

"Hmmph. Works fine for us." Melbourne is choosing to ignore that last little jibe. Current circumstances only make it more import that he maintain the proper standards of dignity for the Merkin race. "Wait."

As they pass by a junction in the tunnels, Melbourne steps aside and gestures for Pepperjack to follow suit. Closing his eyes and trying to push the reeking odor of offal out of mind, he conjures up a spell, humming a note not meant for human ears.

A second later and a fierce roar should fill the sewers, shortly followed by an enormous upsurgance of fouled water barreling through the byway they'd only just abandoned and rushing upon the pursuing gaurds.

"There. Problem done with."

Obligatory Sewer Level

"Not meant for human ears" strikes me as either can't hear it or hurts to hear it, so Pepperjack might be covering his ears.

Riftside

Lex presses his clawed hands together again, and bows his head slightly.May your soul find its Requiem.
He turns back to the makeshift stone cage. He gets as low as he can, considering he can't really sit. He had remembered a few minutes ago that his repertoire, without his guns and the spells in his Gauntlet, is very limited, and his element-bending tricks aren't efficient energy-wise. He pokes lightly at the bars, and says in his best Universal Truespeak,
Alright, buddy. Here's the deal. I'm going in there, with or without you. I will, however, have a much higher chance of getting out if I have what you've got in that currently organic hardrive of yours. And since sitting here doing nothing is boring and likely to cause either of us to end up as anything from a cow to a flying toaster, coming with me is probably your best option. What say you?

Riftside - Lex

The marmoset is a marmoset, and doesn't even understand rudimentary universal languages. However, the rift seems to take pity on Lex and a gauntlet not unlike his own materializes above his head, falling quite quickly and attempting to bean him just like the watermelon before. This one has all the information his old one did, only its language settings have been set to Klingon and there's a miniature bat'leth welded on to the side.

It also seems to have schematics for a Bird of Prey and a handy short guide on how to fly/self destruct one with no indication of whether one set of instructions is for the operation or honorable suicide function.

Riftside - Charity

Charity takes the paintbrush from behind her ear, drags it through a puddle of paint in the crease of her elbow, and tries to place the tip inside the hole the reality tendril is creating. The paint is the colour from the fourth petal to fall from the flowers Edijar brought her on Sunday, and the paintbrush is the one her grandfather gave her on her twelfth birthday. The wood is indented with tooth marks, but the bristles, though old, have been carefully tended to, and are still good.

She isn't painting anything in particular, though she thinks that colour works there perfectly. She simply wants to make a connection. If the rift can touch the paint, it will touch her.

Riftside - Charity

The rift accepts the paint into its swirl, the colors mixing and joining with the rest amiably as a streamer of light reaches out to the tip of the brush's bristles. Their aged and weathered yet well cared for state becomes part of their nature. The history of the brush is studied, accepted, and incorporated into what it becomes as every imperfection is made a feature in the monument to its glory. The brush is perfect in its own moment, and no matter what it goes through from now on it will never be worse, only more storied and weathered by its experiences.

The same feeling may begin to spread through Charity as she holds the brush. All the things about her, each dead cell and living memory her body holds, make up the absolute perfect Charity she could possibly be. The failings, the joys, every moment and every choice that led up to this moment, though each could have gone innumerable other ways, went exactly as it had to in retrospect.

The Rift wants her, as it does all those on their way here, but it knew she would be the one to come first. Her story only required a few mild nudges to bring her to where she needed to be.

Caressing its edge with the tip of a brush is not enough though. The hole is wide enough for her to crawl in through if she wants to see what's beyond.

[Riftside - Entity]

With half of the semi-starlike gleams upon the 'face' of the being migrating down along their limbs to 'focus,' or at least provide the illusion of focus, on the coin-shaped things that danced about. An orbiting mercurial droplet departed from it's inward journey and descended to where it was of roughly even height with the chittering things where it would make an attempt to breech the field if doing so did not provide so much resistance that such a rupture would cause any lasting damage. While the containment was an oddity, it could very well be keeping the interactions between this sliver of existence and that outside from damaging each other. However, if it was potentially permissible should moving through the field result to be either apparently substantially difficult or simply a bad idea, then the globule would then try to just move around it. Given that it existed in other geometries than the simple flat reality it was being viewed in, this was likely to be an avenue for at least a measure of success.

If so or even if not, there would at least be a reply to the initial inquiry. With a faint ripple of Intent, the conveyance of a concept would drift gently about the Entity although a rough approximation could be vocalized as "Well."

Riftside - The Entity

"Good! Good, it's good you are well. Move forward please? Keep moving forward, it's waiting for you all." The green faces 'nod' in agreement with each other, each one flipping forward and back along its horizontal axis rapidly. The globule pierces the field around the Entity as easily as piercing unresisting air, though the being may now realize the intent of whatever is holding off the calamity around them. The zone of forced normalcy is meant to bare their true form for all to see and treasure, and without it the droplet it extended may find itself being all possible things the Entity could ever transmute itself into at once, which is a very unstable state of being.

The green coins immediately back away from it, not wanting to be crushed by any sudden expansions of mass or energy.

Riftside - Ecru

"Not so. It is merely that the order is not my interest here. Order is already my tool, I am merely here to claim chaos as another." He proceeds to do a backflip back toward the rift, determined to continue despite these tricks.

"As you know if you are truly as knowledgeable as you paint yourself to be, opposed things are strong in opposition and unstoppable in cooperation."

Riftside - Ecru

The backflip does put him slightly closer to his destination, and the coin giggles between his eyes as it watches his trick. It's happy that he seems to have found a funny way around the rift not letting him face the center, although it privately thinks that if he plans to backflip his way there he'll probably be too late.

"So mister lost man, if opposed things are unstoppable in cooperation and you're facing opposed chaos and order cooperating against you, how do you expect to succeed?" It points out reasonably.

Riftside - Correl

What was this horrible sound? Was it trying to kill him through his ears?
The knight attempts to protect himself from the sharp discs with his armored arm as she quickly strides towards the strange monster, trying to pierce it with Rashadu. Hopefully the sword wasn't going to make any inappropriate comments about that.

Riftside - Correl

The discs are surprisingly strong and deadly, and putting up his arm in their way may just draw blood as the artfully colored armor isn't quite as resilient as he remembers it. It will still keep the records from biting too deeply into his body though, and with one fell strike the possessed jukebox is felled, falling apart in a shower of sparks and twisted metal.

The scene fades away, replaced with three doors in a darkened hallway. Correl's rainbow warrior armor is repaired and back to being as he remembered it before the strange adventure, his sword is now silent, and he's faced with a new choice.

Unfortunately the doors are labeled in the same indecipherable language the text box was filled with, so he may have to make the choice entirely at random. The only indication of any difference is that the rightmost one has quite a few exclamation marks on it, while the others are just plain text.

Riftside- Fool's Gold

"Very well. Goodbye, Mister Yoghurt. Or are you Mister Hair Cream? Never mind. Goodbye." Iron turns and reaches out to assess how much heat is coming off the lake of magma whilst one spirit tells him (and the others) what heat it is and another spirit tells him (and the others) what heat it should be. He doesn't' seem to notice the fiery lady yet.

Riftside - Fool's Gold

It's quite a lot of heat, the mooseman was right to be worried about having his fur singed off. Still, though it's enough to curl hair if you get too close it's surprisingly cool for magma in that it won't cook you alive just by standing next to it.

Almost certainly would if you were to bathe in it like said lady is. She's currently throwing discretion to the wind and placing her fingers in either side of her mouth so she can blow a sharp wolf-whistle to try and get Iron Pyrite's attention.

[Riftside]

Bleh.

Dog bites.

What an irritating little creature. How would it even be able to hurt Gerra with jaws of jellitin? Ah well. Best not to tempt fate and find out. The griffon aims to swat the animal away with the wide feathery fan on the end of his tail. Hopefully a more or less harmless bopping with convince the vicious (if impotent) animal to leave him be.

Regardless of result Gerra will search for a way out of the yard. The fence is clearly an impassible barrier since going over it simply isn't an option. He'll have to find an opening.

Riftside - Gerra

Probably wouldn't be able to hurt him no, but its teeth are made of candy corn and there's no way being bitten by that would be healthy. The dog gets sent flying across the yard instead of landing a bite and lands against the fence, snapping one of the candy canes. Guess that answers how Gerra's supposed to get out of here, destructible scenery!

Riftside - Lucy

Lucy, for her part, gets physically thrown backwards by the racket.
Even as she hurls her katana at the bird in question!
Then covers her ears again, really wishing she knew Zone of Silence!

Riftside - Lucy

That did it, the shrike (for that's what the deceptively small bird was) explodes in a cloud of feathers and fading sounds as the blade passes through it, hitting the tree with a comparatively silent thunk.

Mission accomplished Lucy, you just massacred one of an endangered species!

Riftside - Within the Glow

Shroomy doesn't object to being picked up. "Shroom shroom." Or at least, if he was protesting, Kenyon probably wouldn't be able to tell.

"I'm not really sure how pokeballs work. They're supposed to be really complicated." Becca shrugs, it doesn't really concern her. Just as long as they work. "His name's Shroomy."

Though it might be rather boring to onlookers, the droplet would be quite unchanged save for the fact that it's reflective surface began to show an impossible amount of tangents and vectors as if each point in space were being reflected at once. Still, that aside, it was rather difficult to alter something that would lose it's inherent definition if changed. Damage was done much more easily as that was simply the addition of modifiers like adjectives in a sentence but changes would be like swapping out letters in a word. In short, it would simply not exist in that form and still represent what it did. Like an archetype, really.

Still, the effect was apparently not a pleasant one by any stretch of the imagination and the orb quickly returned to the more static flows of existence within the bubble. That at least answered the question of what might happen if they had stayed in place earlier at least although the droplet did remain rather close to the edge as if it were a remaining wisp of curiosity. Seemingly in tandem with this inclination was another unspoken intonation. A query this time although pinning down it's exact meaning would be difficult if one tried to condense it down to one sentence although an approximation would be: 'It?' 'What is it?' 'What are you willing to share?' 'Are there others?' 'And what of yourselves?'

Fluttershy spares the pikmin hive! The horrible little creatures will quickly collect as many seeds as they can manage before skittering down into crevices to hid. Too bad for them pikmin seeds can't be planted in shattered concrete. They'll have to travel some distance to begin anew.

A pity, really. The world would have been a better place without the awful little creatures. Now someone else will probably have to suffer due to their continued existence. If anyone else happens to be equipped with a flame-thrower now would be a great time to use it.

Sigil, meanwhile, has moved on to the next injured civilian. A middle aged woman who actually looks okay! Though closer inspection would reveal extensive internal damage. "Please... it hurts..."

"Don't worry. I'll have you fixed up in no time," the unipony says as he readies himself to channel the magic of the Silver Forest once again.

"I don't... I don't want to..." then a long sigh and the woman goes still, her glazed eyes staring off into eternity.

Sigil's body trembles slightly as he gently closes her eyes with a hoof. "Can't save everyone. Can at least save someone..." he begins to mutter over and over again as he moves on to the next victim.

[A Jaunt Sideways in Time]

Raven has acquired head-pants!

...is that a smile tugging at the edge of her mouth? Raven can't stay grumpy and serious around Viera for very long. It is ALWAYS just a matter of time before she caves in and drops the spooky mysterious vibe and just starts acting like a kid.

"I have told no lie. You are my sister and personal nuisance."

Then a frown is directed toward the scene in the ally. "We don't have time for this. Once the purple one's magic returns to her this situation will become desperately more difficult to resolve. You are killing your friend with this frivolity."

And with that Raven flicks an obsidian feather off her wing and into three dimensional space. It'll detonate and spread a thick black miasma of choking particles in the ally. Really rather simple poison this time around. Fairly generic stuff meant to knock mammals out.

[Alley with Many Peoples]

Bang.

Or, well, whatever noise Magtok's finger bullet makes. Yeah, it hits Black. Doesn't do much, because it's only small ordnance, and the coloured creations in particular are quite tough. At this short range it does do something though.

Just...not enough to distract Black. Not that it would let itself be distracted even if Magtok had done something more...substantial.

The creation simply tries to punch the cyborg in the face a couple of times. Hard. And when they hit the ground it'll follow up by attempting to slam Maggy's head into the ground.

...assuming they are falling that is. If they're not, or Magtok's slowing the descent or something, go ahead and ignore that last part.

Anyway, after that little attempt to mess up Magtok's face, Black actually starts paying attention. "I haven't teamed up with any of them. I merely rescued them from the sewers before any secondary collapses could occur. I assumed you were here to try and put the blame on Affidavit for the destruction caused. If that is not your reason for being here, then explain yourself."

Alley with Many Peoples

After taking quite a few blows to the sides of his head, and getting the back of his skull smashed against the pavement, Magtok isn't exactly feeling his healthiest. He spits some teeth and blood at Black's face, clearing his mouth to be able to speak, with the convenient bonus of assaulting an Affidavit creation by doing so. However, even with most of the blood leaving Maggy's mouth as spittle, there's still enough left behind to make his words sound a little muddy.

"Purble. Apobalybse. Crazy. Stob her. Use Agony."

He tries to follow up that persuasive and eloquent recruitment speech by shoving at Black shoulders, in the hopes of getting that stupid deadweight obstacle off of him long enough to dash towards the cleverly disguised Twilight Sparkle. He has no actual plans for anything beyond this point, but given all the blood leaking from his head and face, I don't think that's much of a surprise to anyone.

[+5 Alley of Many of People]

Yuki nods with a grimace as he listens to both women. "Yes that does suffice. So it's really just another form of class warfare, isn't it. Those for the status quo against those who are not."

He turns to look at the still unconscious Kirlia. "...as much as I would like to add my opinion to this, I do have my patient to tend to." And with that, he leaves (somewhat belatedly), and takes Kirlia to WATCHTOWER.

[A Mildly Less Crowded Alley]

And so Yuki and Kirlia depart.

The creation abuses Magtok more than he abuses it.

Luna and Twilight stare down.

The latter's gaze flicks to the Magtok and the creation, standing behind her princess. Is the cyborg escaping, to try to stop her again? Is the creation going to be swayed?
Looking back to Luna.

There's magic swelling around her, being used as soon as it returns, a build up to some form of intense pacification spell.

The woman expected to be outnumbered, but by a different set of individuals. A different set of tools.
This is wrong.

Her absent-smile twitches slightly, even as Luna's horn glows in the first visible sign that she is preparing a spell.
"...I yield."

Fingers fold together before her, some demented gesture of "Look, I'm not casting" and she gives a little bow of the head.

Luna blinks and frowns, not releasing her spell.
"Why?"

And then From Beyond The Threshold knockout gas, courtesy of Raven.

The princess takes to the air immediately, launching herself up with a brisk reflex.
Twilight simply kneels.

[Sinkhole]

While Sigil deals with death...

"Ugh...what'd ya'll wrap around my hoof? Feels too tight..."
A farmpony is starting to move again, surprisingly...not in as much pain as one would expect, from a severe acid-victim.

Which makes Rarity a little nervous. Maybe the damage is so bad she can't even feel it anymore?
"Ah, I wouldn't pull too much at it darling, until we can put some real bandages on there."

Watching from a short distance away, Fluttershy frowns. She'd tended wounded animals before.
This didn't really seem right to her either.

"No, really...it's too tight! Get it off!"
And with a sharp motion that Rarity scarcely registered, Applejack snaps her head down and tears the scarf off.

All three ponies freeze and stare.

There is an entire limb there, folded up awkwardly, but there. It stretches out as the scarf is removed, unfolding to its original length.
But it isn't her leg. It is some perverse fusion of insectile, tan carapace and fleshless muscle, armoring joints and sides, while leaving pulsing threads of muscle adjusting with her movements elsewhere.
At the end, there is no hoof, but rather some form of jagged tip that divides into six spur-like tips to balance on.

Rarity breaks the silence by screaming.

[Sitting Astride Space and Time With Raven]

"No one said sisters couldn't be frieeeeeeends! So you're totally a fibber, sis."
Viera plops down next to Raven, one of her little bunny ears jauntily flopping off to the side.

She appears to be nibbling a sandwich and otherwise unconcerned by the scene before them.

Which is just as well, since when Pinkie Pie finally pulls out her party cannon and notices, she looks rather upset.
"HEY! What happened to plans? I didn't agree to any gas stuff!
Oh my gosh, it's probably poison gas! Or maybe laughing gas! Which sounds fun, except for the part where you laugh and laugh and laugh so much it starts to hurt and then you keep laughing and...oh no, it's that 'too much of a good thing' grandma Pie always warned me about!
I gotta go save her!"

Whoop, looks like she's gonna go rescue Twilight herself.

...after she finishes that weird hoof-sign jig she's doing with Viera.
Okay, now she's going to go rescue Twilight herself.

He's mutated and mutilated himself plenty, but it's always been for a proper cause: the acquisition of power, to better do his masters' wishes. To acquire a greater understanding of the Nexus, and his own place in it. To be one with all and everything; each and every world that the Nexus borrows from, and more. He's come too far to risk that by allowing mindless energy to rewrite him as it pleases.

Sigil frowns slightly at Rarity. "It was covered in her blood. That's a biohazard and it needs to be disposed of."

Very matter of fact and to the point. Though he doesn't bring up that AJ is infectious. Really don't need to put any more troubles onto the mare's back right now. What she is already going through is bad enough without having to worry about anything further. Besides, so long as she doesn't bleed all over anyone it shouldn't be an issue.

On to the subject change!

"There was some kind of chakra... eerr... magic explosion down in the tunnels. They fell in on themselves and brought down the homes of a lot of people in the process," he gestures with a hoof at the sinkhole beyond and the injured. "I'm pretty certain the blast didn't have anything to do with us or Twilight. Chakra is a fairly rare kind of magic around here to begin with. We waited here for you to wake up while I tended to some of the people who were hurt. Speaking of-"

He turns toward the nearby pegasus. "Hey Fluttershy? I noticed you were keeping the pikmin away from the patients. If you could keep that up a little longer it would be... great..."

A fiery red mare with a messy mane of black and white. The only things linking her to Fluttershy are the blue eyes and the three butterflies on her flank. Suffice to say Sigil is extremely surprised.

"Umm... Fluttershy? Are you... feeling okay?"

The people seem to know what to do, bringing a man who'd broken both of his legs to one of Sora's disks, and the other who they were trying to keep from falling unconscious due to his head injury. Tovpir will be loaded up with another pair, one with a single broken leg and a woman who had somehow managed to lose her left arm entirely, now unconscious, though the healer had stabilized her condition. Everybody else was able to walk, so everybody else would follow Tovpir and Sora to the tent.

Magtok's words combined with the woman in purple's actions and talk of saving the world are enough to make Black not just punch Magtok's face in some more.

The presence of the dark alicorn whose only concern is the woman must be factored in too. It does seem like it has been caught in the middle of something bigger than a giant sinkhole in Inside.

...

Black decides to pass the decision onto its superior and quickly consults with Affidavit.

...

Then suddenly knockout gas. Indicating that there is another person involved in this situation. Someone capable of hiding themselves from the creation. Yep, Black's definitely got itself involved in something bigger. And while Affidavit would normally be reluctant to let his creations intervene, since Black is already there...

The knockout gas could potentially affect Black, but it's unlikely the unknown person has the necessary knowledge for that so the creation jumps off Mag. "You have my assistance in this task. Liquid agony seems unnecessary considering what is going on, but I will attempt to restrain her just in case. It gestures at the thick black cloud and charges into the fray, seeking to restrain the woman just in case the knockout gas doesn't work.

Riftside - Correl

Well then, he will attempt to use his second sight in an attempt to find out more information where these doors could lead. If that doesn't help, he will just grab a door without exclamation marks at random, hoping there is a green one.

Astrid comes out of the bathroom with a bathrobe wrapped around her, a cotton night gown under that. She sees Ignai looking at the records and smiles. "Showers all yours, enjoy."

[Red Zone Apartment]

"Oh. Great! I'll just be a little bit." Ignai gives Astida a broad smile before she heads into the bathroom.

'A bit' turns out to have been completely inaccurate, however. Once she's out of her grubby clothes and under the hot water, she finds it hard to hurry. A good half hour passes before Ignai emerges with damp hair and wearing nothing more than the towel she used to dry herself it appears. She holds her clothes in a bundle, not having been all that keen on putting them on again after she got all cleaned up.

The girl looks altogether better just for being cleaned up. Sure she's still got those red bags around her eyes and she's thin enough that it's unhealthy, but there's a definitely different. Maybe, though, it's just that she has a pretty smile that's been so unaccustomed to her for so long.

She looks around to see what Astrid's up to.

Riftside - Ecru

"Because such forces do not cooperate without a mind leading them." He takes another jump, and this time lands in mid-air. He continues to walk toward the center, his feet a good foot off of the ground. "A mind that I will provide."

Riftside - Ecru

"If it never had a mind, why would it have sent me to taunt you mister lost? Its mind was waiting for it all this time, and you let her fly on ahead of you like a fool. Sorry, didn't mean that, it made me say it." The coinface seems contrite, though it's hard to tell with its chipper voice and tendency to stay just between his eyes where it's extremely difficult to see properly.

"And you were just distracted and delayed enough that she got there first. It's a shame. Sorry sorry."

Riftside- Fool's Gold

The dwarf will stare at the lava and slowly walk towards the magma-lady. He's not looking at her, nor where he's going, but he'll walk around any obstructions that might hamper his journey. "Why wolf whistle when whistling wolves won't?"

Riftside - Fool's Gold

The red-skinned woman smiles cattily, "Maybe their kettles just aren't heated enough to get a good whistle boiling away in them huh? Mine's all fired up though." She rolls her head to each side, cracking her neck with a series of loud pops that send sparks and cinders flying off her skin. Little beads of sweat boil off into steam as they roll down her face.

"So what's a skinfolk like you doing in the cookhouse? Didn't notice you walk in, but I saw you standing there looking lost."

[Riftside - Entity]

Riftside - The Entity

The coins nod and flip, flip and nod, "It's the Rift, though only by name. It's not a hole, just a joining. Everything coming together to become better. Find the best bits of each thing possible and make it all whole again. Needs everything's help though, yours too. Gotta go closer to help her get inside, just a bit closer, almost there!" The coins urge the Entity onwards. Just a few more steps and then perhaps the hole will be wide enough...

Riftside

Lex would frown if he could. Everything understands Truespeak. Everything. Obviously getting a response still poses an issue but come on!
Leave it to a chaos tear-thing to make animals even stupider than normally possible.
He's too frustrated to notice the falling gadget, although his scales should prevent him from getting sliced. Still, ow! He looks it over.
Seriously? A melee weapon? Not even a blaster or something? Fine. At least it's a kickass looking blade. Now then.
Lex turns it over, presses the buttons on the back and places it on his hand while giving a few hisses in his native tongue. With any luck, this thing will change to the appropriate language during the startup sequence like normal Gauntlets do. After all, an interstellar PDA with one language setting would suck. He decides to forgo the needle that was in the first one. He'll miss the features it gives, but he really doesn't know where this thing has been.
He'll refresh his memory on his more explodey and order based spells before heading towards the center of the park.

Riftside - Lex

The gauntlet can be reset to Galactic Universal, which is close enough to all languages for pretty much anyone to know. Not magically known like Truespeak, but just such a mishmash of everything that you'll find it pretty much everywhere.

Oddly enough, its closest etymological relative is the Common that's spoken in the Nexus.

As he crosses the threshold into the park, everything wavers and shudders as if the graphics were suddenly glitching out, and the whole area around him turns into what appears to be a standard holo-deck after a few moments of flickering.

The only indication that everything wasn't just a massive computer generated illusion is the fact that in the middle of the deck the sphere at the center of all this still floats, looking like a giant spherical lava lamp with all the colors mixed into it.

[Riftside]

Well!

That's one way to open a gate.

Gerra heads through the gap and checks his minimap to get his heading. He really isn't sure why he has a minimap or where it came from but it should prove to be quite useful! Specifically he's aiming to find his way to the center of the anomaly. Who knows what sorts of crazy he'll encounter on the way there!

Probably sliding block puzzles.

Riftside - Gerra

Nope, no more crazy on the way, he's reached his crazy destination. Gerra has found the edge of the park! The sphere waits in the direct center and there's obviously going to be some sort of shift where he walks into an alternate reality as soon as he takes even one more step towards it, because that's how these things work.

No seriously, there's even a sign saying that right in front of him laying on the ground that he can read from his top-down perspective.

What it also hints at is that he could totally walk back into where he came from through this, or at least a fair approximation of it. The Rift isn't all that precise, it would get him to the world he came from but probably not one with the same history as he remembers.

But that's just one of the advantages of having an increasingly self-aware space-time vortex around. It'll be honest about the results if it offers you favors.

[Riftside - Lucy]

Lucy would contend that her hearing was an endangered species!
And so she goes to retrieve her sword, and loot feathers from the now thoroughly deceased shrike.
Looting! It does a body good!

Riftside - Lucy

Aw what the heck, the feathers are now diamonds!

Yeah, seriously, the shrike's feathers and bones have been compressed into clear carbon crystals while retaining their shapes. They now look like beautiful yet extremely fragile sculptures, and are probably worth a fortune each.

Oh, and the way forward is clear if Lucy is still interested in that. She was kind of just wandering through by mistake at first, so it's really up to her if she keeps going this way after that harrowing experience.

Riftside - Within the Glow

"Desperation is quite unbecoming, Rifty. Changing me to suit your needs is no compromise."

Seems Needs (and the other thing) don't think much of the offer.

Riftside - Within the Glow

Would it really be any different than all those other times? He would be giving up parts of himself, the worst parts of himself, to be better able to understand and wield immense power that is potentially beyond anything he's ever known before personally.

But the rift admits it's just been stalling for time until Charity could complete her journey, and that it's really of no consequence whether Needs' accepts the offer or not. It's already pretty much too late now.

Riftside - Correl

Well then, he will attempt to use his second sight in an attempt to find out more information where these doors could lead. If that doesn't help, he will just grab a door without exclamation marks at random, hoping there is a green one.

Riftside - Correl

He does get some information, yes! The first door is to lock in what just happened, wounds and all, and continue forwards. The second one is to repeat the trial he just faced to try and get a better ending. The third is to quit the scenario entirely without locking in any of his progress, effectively putting him back outside the Rift with none of the oddness he experienced evident.

Surprisingly he got a lot of information this time.

Riftside - Charity

Charity dispels her wings and crawls into the hole. "You're so beautiful," she whispers to the rift as she approaches.

Riftside - Charity

OOC
I know this is kind of hard on the passive godmod permissions I asked for to properly run this plot, so any edits or retcons you ask for in regards to Alt-Charity being revealed will be dealt with as swiftly as possible.

Yes, we are. The rift murmurs back as she finally makes contact. She can feel it all as it was meant to be. The trials, both pointless and mundane from most perspectives but necessary to keep everyone where they had to be, and why she flew through unscathed except for a momentary delay as she was unavoidably caught in a trap meant for someone else.

But now here she is as she always was, as she's meant to be. The chaotic powers of the rift, the ability to pull the best parts of anything in existence together and cast aside the rest, bypassing evolution and trial and error by knowing instinctively what events need to happen to craft the best result. Her range in the universe she came from is limited to only a few blocks, but within those few blocks she could do anything. All the possible histories and futures...

The rift needed a mind to shape, and a mind to shape it, but it could cross all boundaries of time and space once it had it. And once it had Charity it placed her back in the beginning where she could do the most good. Everything that had happened up until now had been guided by her hand, or the hand of a version of her that had been merged with the rift for long enough that all of this craziness made sense. All this time she'd been admiring her own work.

Of course, now it was time to continue the work. The old Charity was still conducting the rift's magnificent visual orchestra, but if this Charity wanted to give any suggestions then she would happily take her own advice.

Lex starts a slow trot towards the center. Someone knowledgable in reptile body language would note that it's the equivalent of walking with your hands in your pockets.
Hello up there? I'm not sure if you're sentient, but you must have some mind in there to have such wacky (if homicidal) tendencies. I hope you get Truespeak. I'm Lex, if you didn't know. I'm a wizard, and where I come from that means preventing and ending pain and trouble wherever I find it. And I'm afraid you're causing an awful lot of pain and trouble.
He sounds genuinely sad for that last statement. After all, he almost died, and someone else clearly did. There's no way he's the only one involved.
I don't really know quite what you are, I don't really know what's going on with this place and what the spatial thing is and the hounds and whatever. But I do know that I have to do something; that's all I've ever known. So if you need help, let me help you. And if you don't, hear me out, because I won't do nothing, and I don't want to have to do what I did for that woman again for a long time, if ever.
He'll be quite close to the center by the end of his speech, unless the room's bigger than it appears or interrupts him.
And if you're wondering why he thought to try talking to a floating bubble, well, it couldn't hurt, right? Plus, he's seen beings with pretty weird forms.

[Sinkhole]

The unicorn you are attempting to reach right now is currently unavailable.
Please try again later when she's functioning again.

Rarity is completely zoning out.
Vacant stare, disturbed breathing...

Yeah, panic attack.

"...okay. Big magic explosion. Gotcha.
Hm, maybe Dash saw somethin' we didn't and went on off after that. Wouldn't put it...past...her...
...nah, that ain't Fluttershy. Is it?"
Another one is perplexed by the pegasus' sudden makeover.

Said pegasus is just grinning widely and stretching out her legs a bit.
"Yeah! I feel great. Never better. I feel...strong!
Pretty sure I'm just great now."
A little glance at her legs.
"So great it shows?"

[Alley with Less People]

Alley with Less People

Magtok nods towards the creation, and then staggers clumsily to one side, swaying as he tries to stay on his feet. He backpedals until he finds a nice, cozy wall to slump against, and does so. Some might call it lazy, but with Black and the knockout gas, what do we need Maggy for, right?

"Jus' dome kill 'er, Affy."

He reaches into his robe, pulls out some gauze and junk, and sets about trying to fix the injury on the back of his head. Not a very easy thing to do, when he can't even see the cuts and bruises himself. He's probably got a concussion to worry about, too. Goddamn Affidavit...

[A Slightly More Crowded Alley Again]

Raven and Pinkie Pie's shenanigans beyond the veil of reality are rather in the open now it seems.

Oops.

From rather literally out of no where, the pink party pony dives out with a giant fan, slapping it down between Twilight and the others (well, the creation mostly), before flicking it on.
Probably to blow away the weird gas? Or maybe them?
Probably won't do anything to them, that'd be silly.

"Shoo! Leave Twilight alone you meanie heads!
Hi Maggy! Hi Princess!"

Will this stop the creation at all? Maybe.
Probably not. Remains to be seen!

Accepted.
Raven would notice it first, from a position of seeing beyond the three primary dimensions. Something else casually coiling out from within Twilight. A familiar white fog.

Everyone else, Magtok, the creation, Luna, they will see a pale cheshire grin of marble fangs materializing behind the kneeling woman.
"Hello, data points. I feel it courteous to inform you that Twilight Sparkle has been dead for quite some time.
So what are you attempting to pacify?"

No apparent hostility.

Hovering above, a princess hears something familiar. Can't quite put a hoof on it, but she can feel that grin searing itself into her memories long gone.

She lands on one of the buildings, and begins trotting around to a place behind Twilight. Perhaps a stealth maneuver will work here, whilst the others act down in the alley.

[Sinkhole]

Well.

Looks like Rarity has clocked out. Seems this is all just a little too much for her to handle. Probably... probably best to just... kind of... leave her be. For a little bit at least.

"That's what I'm thinking too," Sigil nods in reply to AJ's speculation about the prismatic pegasus. "I cast a simple divination to make sure she's still... y'know... alive. Usually it just gives a yes or no answer. Instead the result I got was blueberry flan. Which makes me suspect that Hastur is up to something. Or maybe that Discord guy, I really don't know. It sounds like they both have a fondness for nasty tricks."

When Flutters speaks up again Sigil takes a few tentative steps closer, specifically looking for her cutie mark. Yep. Still three butterflies. That's something at least. "Well I'm glad you aren't distressed? You sound like you're alright anyway."

Looks though? Not sure what to make of that.

"I think the Nexus saw fit to expand your natural weather magic a bit. You're breaking down nitrogen, water, and carbon dioxide in the air to make fuel for fire that's augmented with more than just a little raw magic," the unicorn says as he slowly walks a circle around Flutters. "Your natural store of magic had jumped... tremendously. It's honestly pretty impressive. And you've been showing astoundingly fast control with it, too."

Sigil sounds impressed!

He glances between Flutters and the others. "You... seem to be fine near as I can tell. Though I haven't a clue why you're red now."

Another concerned look is cast Rarity's way. She... really isn't taking this well. Hard to blame her. All this crazy is a far cry from making dresses.

[Riftside]

Eerr...

No.

No, the griffon isn't going to risk that. He would rather find the right version of his home rather than get stuck in some alternate history. By this time he has gotten a pretty solid idea of what's going on here. And the signs are certainly helping! But... he really doesn't want to push his luck. At this point it would probably be a good idea to start heading back before something terrible happens...

That in mind?

Mark makes a buzzing sound, very audible this time.
Sir was warned, he says simply. In an instant, his eyes flash from light green to scarlet, and with a cry of, Engaging hostiles! he lunges forward under the blows with a combat roll and performs a wide sweep for the first minion's legs with his blade. Should it topple, he'll follow up with a downward arc to sever its head.

Mark lets go with his right hand after the blow, reacting quickly. A tiny rod extends from his right wrist about two inches as he raises the arm, and it catches the lightning like the lightning-rod that it is!
This One thanks Sir for the supplemental power. Allow This One to return the favor.

Mark is grabbed! Although it's too close to get a good swing in, he's not helpless. Pressing the electrode in his wrist against his assailant, (presumably the arm holding him) he reverses its current, sending out enough volts and amperage to reduce normal bones to blackened char. "Not meant for human ears" strikes me as either can't hear it or hurts to hear it, so Pepperjack might be covering his ears.

"Useful... Let's go up the next manhole cover," Pepper Jack says as he continues down the way. "Let's get out of here before something less savory than guards, assassins, or shrimp-men come for a look. This smell is killing me."

For the most part, can't. Fredrick might hear a faint, high-pitched ringing, but that's about it.

Walking Through Inside-Night

He lurks in the shadows. Clegg stands in an ally, looking about for Felandria. His best guess was that he wouldn't find her here. However, it was a nice night out, and he was hungry. He needed to feast every three days or he'd get feral and attack anything. Bad. So, he walks through the streets, long coat reaching his knees, the coat dripping seawater on the cement sidewalk. His long grey hair is matted, scraggly, and has sea-creatures crawling through it. His wooden leg clunks on the side walk. However, Clegg simply utters a word in an odd language that sounds like water crashing stone. Then, he's silent. His grey eyes glare out in the night, he was hunting. His top hat covers the top of his head, saltwater spilling from the brim. He grins before moving against the wall and yelling out.Help me! Someone! Help me!

Got a penthouse and everything."

She leads the pair up the tower, arriving at the room in the center. It appears to be the old control room, now taken over by Sayuri. There's a bed in one corner, constructed from parts of chairs, a small bookcase with a few trinkets and amenities, and a small stove plugged into one of the wall outlets.

Sayuri places the tea on the bookcase and smiles over at Jamie and Char. "So, what do you think? Cool, huh?"

OOC: http://i431.photobucket.com/albums/qq40/happyturtle-avs/smilies/thumbsup-1.gif

"Paint the world," Charity whispers to herself, and raindrops begin to fall. But where they land, rather than wetting the surfaces they touch, they colour them, making brush-strokes wherever they hit. If you've seen the movie "What Dreams May Come", you'll know the relevant scene.

http://i431.photobucket.com/albums/qq40/happyturtle-avs/what-dreams-may-come-1.jpg

The only difference is that it hasn't formed into any sort of image yet. It's only colours for the moment.

Riftside

As the paint-rain begins to fall, Lex can hear a voice in the colours. "Not homicidal. Never. I'm a pacifist." The paint-drops form a picture on the ground of a catboy soldier. He has no apparent wounds, but he's clearly dead. It's clear by the discolouration of his skin. The bloating of his abdomen. The flies crawling on his open eyes.

The gate opens a bit, leaving enougth room for one person to pass by. The light inside makes it a bit hard to see what is far behind the gate, but the area around the gate appears empty. Should they go on they soo might find themself in a big hall, which doesn't seem to have a roof.
The walls near the gate appear very expensiv, since they are made of gold, adamant and other expensive metal. A hundred feet away from the Gate stand two seats. The other side of the hall appears dark and only a few lights over the gate loom the area.

"Oh.

Astrid is sitting on her bed reading a book. She had put on a record letting it play quietly. It sounds like a a female duo playing guitars and singing at a quick tempo. Astrid looks up from her book at Ignai. She blushes a bit at seeing the other girl in just a towel.

"'Mwahahaha, I have power unimaginable, you'll never stop me now', you say?"

Needs drives into the aforementioned hole, tunneling as only the most driven and hideously icky invertebrates can. He's at the end of his rope, but that's of no consequence, because the tail-end of the centipede just reels him in towards the rift, intent on breaking in and then repossessing his body at the appropriate time.

Riftside - Within the Glow

"'Mwahahaha, I have power unimaginable, you'll never stop me now', you say?"

Needs drives into the aforementioned hole, tunneling as only the most driven and hideously icky invertebrates can. He's at the end of his rope, but that's of no consequence, because the tail-end of the centipede just reels him in towards the rift, intent on breaking in and then repossessing his body at the appropriate time.

Riftside - Charity and Needs?

See? I knew having you here would be amazing. This is a ****ing awesome idea. No matter how enlightened the Rift has gotten by its exposure to the multiverse, it's still a version of Charity somewhere deep inside there.

Hello Needs, care to make a suggestion or should I just boot you the **** back out right now? Charifty asks as another presence invades the sphere, this one distinctly orange-feeling.

Riftside

Lex mutters a quick Thank the Powers I wasn't talking to myself.
He looks sadly at the corpse's image before looking back up.
You have no idea how glad I am to hear that. But that doesn't change that people have been hurt here. And I don't know if there's any control in the things causing that, but either way they have to stop. So like I said, if I can help, let me help, because no one else is going to die if I can stop it.

Riftside - Lex

This time the sphere itself speaks to him rather than letting Charity take the reigns again. It communicates that nothing has actually died, that what he "killed" was just a moving pile of meat with no consciousness. It had lied to him about previously being a person because that was part of his story that needed to happen at this time.

Nothing has died, and nothing can die. The Rift has made sure of that with a few notable exceptions that have more power to effect reality than it. Conflict is not inherently wrong, it's just another necessary thing in the order of the story. If Lex wants to help then he should let things run their course and accept his role in the story as the rift's protector from those that would try to destroy it.

Riftside - Correl

Looking at the doors, the knight decides to go with the first one. He didn't want to hear that horrible voice again but he didn't want to leave either. He wasn't Correl the coward after all. A knight did not retreat until his task was done and there were still a job to do (even if he had no idea how to do it just yet.)

Riftside - Correl

Luckily, those doors counted as his second trial so Correl is ready to face the main boss! Walking through the door puts him right there in front of it in fact, standing atop the parapet of a majestic white castle with the sphere of colors whirling above his head.

"Oh, uh, yeah. I don't have a lot of clothes, but I can spare something, I think." Ashley heads back into the converted side office to get an extra outfit. She comes back out with a simple t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

When Kailee returns, she looks between the two samaritans and says, "Shall we go?"

[DMC]

As they knock they both hear some other knocking as well. Just like another person is knocking on this gate.

Adir moves forward warily, looking around in awe of the vast alien constructs. He takes one of the seats, assuming quietly that someone's brought him here for a meeting.

Glory, Glory, Hallelujah

"I have *pant* seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps,
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the...by the dim and flaring lamps:
His truth is marching on!"

Ah, it is an absolutely fine night to be an outlaw, isn't it? The stars are shining in the night sky, the lights are all out across Romero Boulevard, and though the city of Inside is never silent, it's about as close to to quiet as ever can be managed. There's not a soul out here to bother him and his work, which is exactly as he planned for things to go.

Meticulous notes and observation of the kobold apartment complex have finally paid off. The majority of the residents are sleeping in their burrows, oblivious to the world beyond them. Resident #18 from the third floor window got called to work unexpectedly, down at some ethnic restaurant, but beyond that, everyone's attendance record is absolutely exemplary. Everyone else is exactly where they were at this time last week, and the week before that, too.

Those stupid kids ought not to have said anything about the apartment complex fire. It was humiliating enough, being foiled by that trickster woman, but for the enemy to claim his employer had succeeded in destroying this building when it was, in fact, still standing and entirely unharmed? It was absolutely nauseating; Dalton could feel his fists shaking in indignant rage the whole time they'd been yammering outside. Those kids want to say this building was burned down by supremacists, fine. Dalton's got nothing better to do at this hour, so why not make truth out of their silver-tongued lies?

"I have read a fiery gospel writ in ohchristthisisheavy burnished rows of steel:
'As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
his truth is marching on!'"

There are parts of that song that don't make mention of fire, but Dalton was never very interested in those, with the exception of the chorus. He drags the last drum of gasoline into place, stopping for a moment to lean against the side of an alleyway. Man, those strength-enhancing gauntlets were totally worth every cent of that four figure price tag! Hauling all of that would've taken at least six of him, and they'd all have had much more severe back pains afterward! A shame the battery for them has just about run dry, though...

"Okay...okay, that's the last of 'em. Ha! Here's some goddamned double jeopardy **** for you kids, then! And **** you kobolds too, incidentally!"

He cuts through the top of the last barrel, and paints a little fish on his cheek with a dab of the flammable goop, before carefully legging it away from the building. There's a time bomb in one of those barrels, set to go off in roughly two minutes. Everything's gone just about flawlessly; Dalton just needs to find a fire escape and some popcorn before it goes off and sends the whole building to kingdom come.

[GenReich Labs]

GenReich laboratories is a small building with only a few windows and a very large basement. They aren't well known, but that is because very few people pay attention to partical physics in the Nexus. The chaotic nature of this place often means it is hard to do anything like real sience here. But then again there are great oppertunities to discover new things, so someone keeps pumping money into research. The lab here actually has a small partical collider locked away downstairs. Which is why Nort Heynews is here tonight.

Nort is an older man, in his late 40's. He walks with his nose buried in a notebook he is scribbling in as he approaches the lab mumbling to himself.

"The math doesn't work yet. I still haven't adjusted the standing waves or figured out the energy input needed to collapse the wave functionality of the inverse pull.

He stops at an outside wall of the labratory and frowns at the obstruction. Reaching into one of the the pockets in his tweed coat he pulls out a pen like device with a palm sized cube attached to the end. He points it at the wall and watches the lights blink on the box at the end. If anyone watching him had a radiation detector it probably wouldn't be to happy to be near Nort right now. It would randomly be picking up signs of radation one second and then nothing the next.

"No, if the Hamilton equations are used we end up with a mess of spin off particles destroying any hope of cohesion."

Still talking to himself he puts away the device and proceeds to walk through the wall disappearing into the building inside. Anyone with electronic surveliance in the area and watching the area near the building will probably get some interferance for a few hours.

'Who?' 'For what reason?' 'What is there?' These questions were the most accurate interpretations of the Entity's next inquiry although there remained that same sense of nebulous lack when transcribing it into terms that were more commonly understood. Still, the pace would not slow unless either prompted or potentially blocked in some fashion.

Another 'intonation' resulted in a second set of questions; this time in pertanance to their guides rather than their destination. 'And of yourselves?' 'Who are you?' 'Why do you know of all this?' 'Of what is your origin?' And other, similar phrases could be constructed to try and make full sense of this un-utterance of Intent. Or perhaps it might make more sense as an ur-utterance although it was mostly semantics at this juncture.

Ace's expression sobers, and he takes a step closer to the robot lady. "The reason I don't know what the Master Memory is, is because I'm not from the same place you are," he says, trying to sound comforting. "Wherever you're from, you're not there anymore. You're in the Nexus now. It has a habit of... of grabbing people up from where they live and dumping them here." He hesitates a moment, and places a hand on Robot Lady's shoulder. Maybe it would help, maybe it wouldn't. "My name's Ace. If you want, I can help you get settled in."

The robot has the look of utter nonunderstanding on her face.

"I am in a dead zone, which teleported me here, and you do not have access to Master Memory, and never had."

Um... that might not be wrong. Think about it, and it's all technically accurate.

"I am not familiar with an Ace model. What are your specifications?"

"That's right!" Ace smiles reassuringly. "I know it's all pretty confusing. Once you get past that hurdle, though, you'll do fine." He pats her own the shoulder, then frowns. "Um. My specifications?" the magician ponders this for a moment. "Well. I can do this."
He snaps his fingers, causing a deck of cards to appear in the palm of his hand. Fanning it out with a flick of his thumb, he selects a card from it and flicks it up into the air. It spins up into the sky, before exploding into a ball of green, spiralling light and fire. "And other things. Y'know. Card tricks." He grins, not playing the whole "modest" thing very well.

"I have *pant* seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps,
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;

'As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;

When an explosion rang through the nearby streets and a fire broke out, Remnant phone lines were immediately drowned in calls from people all around the area.

And thus, anyone there will see eight powerful bikes speeding towards the burning buildings, followed by two fire engines, which are much slower. The bikers take a few seconds to assess the situation before spreading out to direct the evacuation and try to flush out the perpetuator.

Kirk shows up shortly after. For once he isn't actually wearing a suit, which would be odd if Cassidy knew him better. The situation calls for being a little more low key. Of course, the dark red, long sleeved, button up shirt he's wearing is still pretty nice, but it's not a suit.

"Fancy seeing you here." He comments casually with a slight smirk on his face.

Cassidy lowers her goggles to look at Kirk without some information overlay. "Right. You're dressed to kill, so you'll be able to head inside without raising eyes. I can keep watch for the mark here." Nit many pleasantries to exchange.

Riftside

Lex exhales heavily. It's really not nice to lead people on like that, you know. He's clearly more relieved than annoyed, though.
Still, everything has a right to exist peacefully, so as long as no one's getting hurt I don't mind playing along. Provided, of course, he adds with a toothy smile, that this time my stuff stays my stuff and not fuzzy animals.
He taps at his replacement Gauntlet absent-mindedly, still trying to decide if the jury-rigged blade is appropriate or not.

Riftside - Lex

The Rift expresses relief, and then paints him a picture of the problem. There is a man in a tan suit who wants to stop all of this, and Lex is the only one in position to stand between him and the Rift itself. The Rift will help in any non-fatal way it can, but it's up to him to confront it.

Through vague feelings of intent and the diagrams formed from painting rain on the ground, all of this is explained. Hopefully it will be enough to give him a good idea of what he has to do because there's no time for questions. The holo-deck fades away and is replaced by the vast rocky desert that Mr. Ecru is currently traversing, just as the man uses his beam of imposed reality to teleport much closer to the Rift and Lex himself.

((Lex is now facing Lost Deep's character Mr. Ecru, who is a bit miffed at losing his chance at what he saw as a method of ascending to godhood, just in case you haven't been following those scenes.))

Riftside - Mr. Ecru

There is a better way.

Mr. Ecru jumps up, so that he can see the orb clearly. He stops and stands in midair, and then opens his briefcase and points it at the reality-breaking sphere. A long prismatic beam emits from the suitcase, headed for the orb.

If it succeeds, Mr. Ecru's will will begin to be forced onto the rift. At this range, the most he can do is will it to put him MUCH closer so he can actually DO something.

Of course, Mr. Ecru cares nothing for the Charity in the orb, but that doesn't mean that she can't fight the influence. It just means he doesn't expect her to.

Riftside - Mr. Ecru

The beam doesn't put him directly touching the rift, but it does put him within spitting distance of it. Another complication arises though, as a dinosaur with a rather technological looking bladed gauntlet fades into view in between him and his goal. One last obstacle, or something more insidious?

Riftside- Fool's Gold

"You seem rather hot. So does he." Iron Pyrite then turns to the newcomer. "Rather a bucket of meat than a bucket of bones. Less likely to run away, although put meat in bread and it makes music." The tone is all the same throughout his speech, and he shows no signs as to whether he's aware of the flirting.

Meanwhile, the knowledge spirits float out to try and find out things about the newcomer. Such as what he is, any weak points and anything that might be common knowledge about him in particular or his race in general.

Riftside - Fool's Gold

The "man" in question is a disguised rock elemental, mostly made of coal and quartz. He's rather hotheaded, but fractures easily compared to some of his harder cousins.

The lava nymph waves him off, he's just a bouncer for the spa that misunderstood the situation, "We were just having a chat, weren't we?" She asks leadingly, hoping the strange dwarf will play along and not aggravate the aggregate elemental more.

"That so?" The burly "man" asks gratingly.

Riftside

"Don't you know it's gonna be alright?" Charity asks. Plan? She's busy using the sky as a canvas to paint a massive portrait of her sister's dog, lying on its side and snoring.

Riftside - Within the Glow

"You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan."

Charity seems the type to recognize the words of Lennon when she hears them. Let's hope she knows the rest of the song, and can get the gist of the criticism Needs is trying to communicate here. Any more coherence and he's liable to twitch the wrong way and give someone a stroke.

Riftside - Charity and Needs

If I fail, I'll know before the end that it won't work and put things back to boring old normality. If I succeed, I'll have sculpted a paradise out of a small chunk of Inside. Either way, what does everyone have to lose except for a few weeks of inconvenience? Is this any more crazy than anything else that's going on that it deserves your attention? Okay, that was a bit less Charity and a bit more Rift that time, but it's trying to be reasonable with the only person that's currently in a position to stop it dead and Charity-thoughts aren't exactly being helpful there.

Riftside - Entity

"Figments, preprogrammed messages, imaginary friends made of color and emotion. We don't know, we just do what we were made for by the Rift, to ease the story along." There is a sense of relief though, as if the Entity's part in this 'story' has been completed. Most of the coinfaces begin to wink out, facing reality along their infinitely thin edges and ceasing to exist.

A few remain though, to answer the rest of their questions, "If you want to know who, you can meet her. At the center, hurry-hurry, she's in peril and might not be there if you dawdle. She'd like to thank you before she has to go."

Riftside - Correl

How convenient but this was more like it. It almost felt like home except he had never stood upon the roof except that one time when he was escaping from Lady Magdalena. Now that was a crazy woman, at least he was wearing more this time around, much more appropriate for a showdown then underwear. He had to admit though, whatever beast he was supposed to face, it would be better then Lady Magdalena.

The knight carefully moves around, scouting the area, trying to figure out what he was to do and what he was supposed to be fighting this time. His sword is always ready in case something leaps at him.

Riftside - Correl

No beasts, only disappointment and a strange sense of serenity. Wasn't this much better than heading into expected danger because of some expected fate? Everyone gets the path they picked, because that's what they ask for.

But with a perfect, shining white castle to call his own, does a life fighting monsters that would otherwise not exist really mean anything? Is his story truly so pointless that he still expects only anguish and confrontation when presented with peace?

"Ooookay then." Ace purses his lips. "So you've never been under your own direction, then?" He links his arms behind his head and leans back against the make-shift pillow. "Yeah. I guess I can see how that would be disconcerting for you. Thing is, Miss Robot, there is no Master Memory here. So you're going to have to find some way to adapt to that, scary as it sounds." She could feel fear, right? She sounded pretty scared.

The fan does little to stop Black.

The creepy grinning thing does more to make it stop. More ponies...more...unidentified things. Definitely something pretty big going on here.

And since Magtok is unlikely to want the Nexus to go boom either, Black decides after a moment's pause to resume doing what it was doing before. Namely, making the sure the woman who is maybe called Twilight but apparently dead, is restrained. "Unless someone cares to explain why I should be doing otherwise, I'll be making sure this lady doesn't do anything else for the time being."

"You are using several terms that I do not understand. Is there some kind of database I could access? I require some kind of information influx to understand your aid."

Hmm... she doesn't sound emotional, but her word choice might imply some emotions. It's up in the air whether she actually has them.

"Sounds like a plan. We'll be in touch as soon as I find something." The drow nods to her and goes into the tavern. He steps up to the bar and takes a seat. "Barkeep. A glass of rum if you would." He casts his eyes around the tavern, looking for their mark.

Glory, Glory

As Dalton tries to make his escape, he'll hear a voice from the street below.
"Hold it!"
If he looks down, he'll see two of the bikers looking up at him. He is in a rather compromising position, what with being on a building opposite to the one that's currently burning down.

"Hell no, fire!" Dalton shouts, hoping that will come off as the sort of thing a random bystander would yell before running away from the cops. Fire, big and scary and ugly to the eyes of the commonfolk. Deadly and monstrous, not at all the thing of beauty Dalton sees it as.

He keeps running. He leaps off the building, and reaches one beside it, but only just makes it. His legs hit the side of the building, scraping his knees up something fierce, stabbing little knives of pain up and down his legs as he pulls himself up by his arms. Gods, that was painful and tiring and hard, and he's hardly any farther from those Remmies, how the hell is he supposed to get out of this one?!

"A small chunk of Inside," Needs repeats, in almost precisely the same voice and tone as Rift-Charity. "Not very like chaos to confine itself. To establish limits, rules, boundaries. To tame itself for the zoo-going public."

Suspicion is lodged towards Charity and Rift-Charity. Who's to say they'll stop here? Shouldn't someone be around to prevent them from ruining everything?

"Unless someone cares to explain why I should be doing otherwise, I'll be making sure this lady doesn't do anything else for the time being."

Magtok puts a hand to his temples, and spits out another gobful of blood, before shaking his head in resignation. So either weird HarmonyGhost is lying, or this whole adventure has gotten even more screwed up than it was before.

"So we never even had a chance, then. This whole quest has been one big, stupid lost cause from the start." Magtok states blandly, getting back on his feet and staggering towards the thing rising out of Twilight's body.

"I hope you understand that's not going to stop us from stopping you, though. You know that, right? Sparkle's a goddamn tragedy, and I'll be there for her funeral, provided you're not lying, but I'm not done here, okay? Nobody tries to take my Nexus away and lives. Worse things than you have tried."

Magtok staggers forward a step, and clumsily pulls a huge green gun from his robe, pointing the thing vaguely in the direction of that stupid grin.

"Stand and fudging deliver, you revisionist piece of ****."
