so due to a template i get leadership as a bonus feat. my leadership score is well into epic level but i cant take the epic version of the feat so it dosent matter.

i was wonder what to do with my 163 followers. i was thinking maybe putting them to work for me somehow ( i dont want to adventure with them, too complicated) maybe some kind of traveling circus maybe?

im also not sure if they even would work for me, the rules i think are kinda vague on what followers are for.

Have them build boats. Lots of boats. A boat a month. Makes lots of money.

You get a bunch of other Wizards together (or any type of Arcane Spellcaster really) with the feat "Tattoo Focus" and they all sacrifice at minimum a first level spell into the circle. After that you can redistribute those levels for anything to powering metamagics, to heightening your spells, to increasing your caster level.

An Example of this would be:

Sayzar Lavesk is a Red Wizard and grabs a bunch of spellcasting slaves (7 1st level Sorcerers) together for a little party. Each Slave gives up one 1st level spell each for a total of 7 spell levels that can be allocated for:

Maximizing, Empowering or Heightening a spell up to 7th level
Increasing his caster level for 24 hours by 7
Any combination of the above totaling up to 7.

Sayzar decides to to Maximize his Fireball spell using 3 spell levels and Empower it using 2 more spell levels. He may then increase his caster level by 2 for the next 24 hours.

When he cast his Maximized Empowered Fireball the spell levels are used up, however the Caster level increase is for 24 hours.

A Red Wizard may only do this up to a maximum of 20 spell levels (Still pretty friken high if you get down and optimize it).

At 7th level you can give willing followers the Tattoo Focus feat, but I'm not exactly sure if this is a bonus feat (at least I don't think it is)

... The DMG :smallconfused:

For more information on how to destroy the world with Circle Magic, look no further (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14529484&postcount=45).

Red Wizard's in the 3.5 DMG. There are a few other circle-magic users out there; Hathran and Halruuan Elder both get circle magic, and there's a feat in Ghostwalk that grants a lesser version of circle magic (but doesn't require a prestige class).

while circle magic is an interesting option, i have never been a big fan of wizards or arcane casters in general. the build that gives me this feat is actually a divine build.

p sure parts of it exist in dmg, but otherwise it's ... mostly an FR thing.

They are handy little buggers to have spread out through areas you frequent as bases of operation. Since they aren't stated out, you can use the level 1 and level 2 followers to run mundane businesses for you in those towns(I.E. Inns, supply shops, temples, medieval hospitals). That way you always have a free/insanely cheap place to rest and restock the most basic of necessities.

From there I like to use the next few levels of followers as key persons of interest in cities. Say the captain of the town guard, members of the royal guard, spy guilds, high ranking members of prominent religious organizations. That way I have a constant supply of information about important areas of the campaign world at my disposal without the need to be there or sleuth myself. It is all just a letter or communication spell away.

My highest level followers are usually pure casters. Their jobs are to get information the other tiers of followers couldn't if I need it, and to craft useful magic items for me. Usually these are wands, potions, scrolls, or anything useful even at a low caster level.

While Circle Magic can break the game in its own way...having your end set up to have the DM hand over his notes as easily and legitimately as possible is another. After all, why play 20 questions with God...when you can play 2000 questions with God for free?

Now this is where you lost me. Why not just have all your followers be Pure casters? :smallconfused: Or be Human Wizards (Specialist) and have Magical Training (bonus feat) and Tattoo Focus. Then just regulate the contents of each of your followers spell books down the chain of command?

Build a city/fort to use as a safe haven/gear shop for the future?

The simple answer...too much book keeping and a greater odd of either my brain exploding, or a DMG flying at my head.

I also like the feel of having many different and uniquely skilled people under my command. To me that is best shown by having people of different walks and professions at my command. So as much for book keeping, it is also for style.

What? Just make a list of things that are acceptable at X level. :smallconfused: If it's on the acceptable list then it's in the book, if not then it isn't. It's not to much book keeping on your behalf really.

Now that is amazing  I enjoy having individuals that can perform the traits of everyone else in the organization just as well as each other (with ascending tiers of power). Meh... I like the idea of leading an organization of wizardry (See Wizard's Guild).

Get them to set up a small village or fort, somewhere nice that you can retreat to and bed down if need be. Make sure it's a good place for trade and economy so you can buy and sell loot there too. Maybe someday it will become a bigger town or city that you founded, or a mighty fortress that you command.

Add Landlord. Mix well. Say the money comes from taxing your followers, for RP reasons. Enjoy.
