I've been building a SAD Ultimate Magus (Beguiler/Wizard) for a friend's campaign, but I have found myself stuck on what metamagic to take to make the most of the Ultimate Magus ability.
So far, the most useful I can find is sacrificing a high level spell from Wizard to apply Heighten to a spell like Glitterdust to amp the Save DC up to 2+INT+my highest spell level. Most of the other metamagic doesn't seem to be as useful, since I can't affect spells above 1st level at level 8, and 2nd at level 9. This prevention leads me to believe my best bet is to stick with the lowest metamagic I can until much higher levels where I can start sacrificing high Wizard spells to Persist low level spells like Invisibility, or high Beguiler slots to Empower or Repeat mid level Wizard spells.
What is the best metamagic feats to go for, considering I can't affect my highest level spells? I'm a Focused Specialist Conjurer (banning Evocation, Enchantment, and Illusion), but won't be going into summoning, if that helps to give better perspective.
