The World: There are two continents, the first of which is predominately dwarves and orcs. The dwarves live together in rather large cities in the northeast. It is fairly cold, but not extremely. Only during the winter does it snow. The terrain there is mountainous and the water there is pure. Clean air and fresh trees dot the landscape. In other words, it is quite beautiful.
Below and to the southeast of this generally dwarven land was the human empires. The land there has a great amount of rivers and extremely fertile land for crops. Unfortunately, the humans never formed a single nation, and as such, there have been many, many wars, ruining the countryside. It is easy to find a piece of armor or a weapon scattered somewhere. It is not too hot and not too cold. The rainfall is enough.
Even further southwest is the jungles. There the great Orcish tribes roaming and living in villages. Their numbers are strong, but their cultural differences prevent them from posing a threat. They are not entirely warlike, but war is part of their culture certainly. It is hot and humid here. This kind of weather breeds many kinds of pests and disease.
As one goes North of the Great Jungle, the jungle trees give way to tall forests, and dense greenery. It is very cold, and legend speaks of an Elf city that once dwelled inside the heart of this forest.
Between the Plavat Forest and the Great Jungle is an enormous lake. It is uncannily clear and thus has earned itself the name of the Crystal Lake. Many people made pilgrimages here, before the roads became to dangerous to travel there. It is a place of extraordinary beauty.
Between the Plavat Forest and the Dwarven Kingdoms is the Gulf of Nashi Okkar. Over this Gulf floats the great city of Epistimi. Many great scholars come here to learn from the teachers that live there.
The sun is extremely hot in this world. Most people operate under the dark of night. The day can be treacherous. Epistimi is famous for its sunlotion. Unfortunately, trade has become difficult under recent years.

Magic: The first and foremost thing about magic in this world is that it draws on the energy of something. Wizards provide energy for their own spells, as do sorcerors and swordmages. Warlocks draw energy from their pact. But, there are those who do not use energy from themselves. These are the Defilers. Magicians who devastate the landscape by drawing energy from it. Their spells are more powerful, but they are hated by nigh all. Though there are few Defilers, their mark in history has many people in this world to be against Arcane magic in general. In particular to this regard are the Orcs. Divine magic is something to behold and the public loves it. It is considered a great honor to have a cleric or such to be in a family. Religion is incredibly important to those in this world. Psionics are rare, but those who have had the ability to use it have almost always been remembered as a Hero or a Tyrant. Primal magic is not quite as rare as psionics but the publics regard for it is similar to that of Divine. The general populace of the Dwarven Kingdoms do not recognize it.

Recent History: As always, disputes over land and resources left the human nations constantly devastated. The dead were uncountable, yet no other nation tried to create a peace. The orcs had their own problems and the Dwarven king had long gone lazy. This would inevitably lead to the problem. Once upon a time, a boy named Ah'Tery Mahats'ats was born with the uncanny ability to use magic in ways that few could match. He was gifted enough that he was sent to Epistimi to study the ways of the arcane, but more importantly how to use it responsibly. In fact, nearly all of his city was scared of him. Those who crossed him disappeared. At the City of Scholars, he quickly absorbed the information, but it was not enough. Searching for the ability to use more powerful magicks, he dabbled into Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy... He began to defile. Slowly at first, but he began to use it nonstop. When he returned to his city, he was mad with power. Now, the human nations are no more. And the dwarven kingdoms struggle to survive the perpetual Undead Invasion.

Races: Humans: When the human nations fell, they evacuated mostly to the Dwarves. The humans had been in constantly switching wars, but now they are beginning to bond as a race. They are power-hungry, and the most easily corrupted of races. They are the third most populous race on the continent.
Elves: The elves have not been seen for the longest time. Recently, even the scholars at Epistimi have left. Their location is unknown, but nigh everyone still believes in the old folklegend of the hidden city of the Elves.
Dwarves: The most influential race in this continent, the dwarves are the most prosperous and militarily strong race. They have a deep love of Divine magic, but a bit of conptemt for the Arcane.
Gnomes: There are very few gnomes, and most of them live in the city of Epistimi. They are renowned for having great senses of humor.
Halflings: Stereotyped as thieves, the Halflings are fairly successful dwelling, generally, in larger cities. Halflings are among the most educated races.
Orcs: Less warlike than in tale, the Orcs are a brutish race of greenskins. They enjoyed physical challenges far more than any other contest, yet they are still familiar in most basic sciences. They have a deep connection with nature, and, because Defiling destroys nature, they, too, have a deep hate of Arcane.

More about the World: Terrifying monsters are real, but are rare. So rare in fact that many believe that some are merely legends. There are other tribes and many citadels and strongholds in the world, though they are undiscovered.
A long time ago, there was plenty of trade beween the different nations, but hostilities broke out. The orcs invaded the human empires, and the humans set aside their differences to defend their people and their way of life. The Elves banded with the Orcs, and the Dwarves with the humans. After a long brutal war, the humans managed to push the orcs out, though invading the orcs in their homeland would have been suicidal. After the war, the people of the world became suspicious and careful with the other nations. Then, the elves went, inexplicably, into hiding. The orcs couldn't solve their own differences. And now, the humans are nigh all undead. The Dwarves now face this Undead threat by themselves
The entirety of the continent is mapped out, and there are roads that lead from one kingdom to the next. But, years have been since roads have repaired and no country knows what is like beyond the sea.
Gods and Primordials did indeed create the world. The primordials fought a great long battle with the gods before losing. In the beginning times, the gods worked alongisde the sentient races to improve their livelihood, but have long sinced disappeared. Little to no contact with these great divine beings have occured since.

Rikgruve
Richest of the Dwarven Cities, the symbol and hope of the Dwarven's survival.
A long, long time ago, the dwarves inhabited the Smultin Mountains. They found it was full of riches. Diamonds, silvers, it was a mystical place. The dwarves hollowed out this mountain, and made their home there. The town grew rapidly and it soon became an image of Dwarven power. Parents would often send their disbehaving child there to mine out some precious stone to please the parents. The town quickly became a city, and the people became wealthy from trade.

Now, the population of Rikgruve is still high, though there are far less than it used to be. Much of the people are now trained to use weaponry, and even the elderly and children can use a spear or a crossbow. This city has a large standing military, though the military personnel all have their own professions, generally as craftsmen for weaponry or armor.
Rikgruve is built into a mountain looking over a small lake. This small lake hooks into a river that runs to the ocean. It provides freshwater for the people of the city. At the base of the mountain are great fields of grain, and windmills for grinding the grain. Outposts dot the land, watching always for the Undead.
Small villages, mostly of farmers adorn the countryside. Deeply religious, these farmers send works of cloth, bread, fish, and other goods in return for gems, rare trinkets, and magical items. These villages are nearly all run by a Village elder, and these villages are not taxed. Instead, the people send gifts to the city of Rikgruve for thanks of being protected.
In Rikgruve, there were several taverns for travelers. But, because the lack of foreigners, and people from other nations desiring to see the Smultin mountains, only a few taverns remain. Weapons and armor are readily available as are fine cloths and alchemical ingredients. Food is plentiful... to most.
Religion is of key importance in this city. The three key temples are Pelor, Kord, and most importantly Moradin. Pelor is occasionally prayed to. In times of famine, praying raised the morale of the city, and there are always faithful that pray for a calmer sun. Kord has recently become more revered as battle occurs more often. Moradin holds the heart of these dwarves and the church is by far the most extensive. The people love, fear this god, especially in the villages. Great statues of him are in town centers and some of the greatest works of Dwarven art are inspired by him.
The cities military, while large, is not a police force. The people are expected to be Good and to work together for the survival of the city. Despite this, word of an underground Tiamat-worshipping society has reached the ears of the city's ruler.
The nobles of the city are mostly non-corrupt. They are fair and just. There are several dukes, and no king. Instead, there is an, elected by the nobles, leader once every three years. The ruler hasn't a great deal of power, but his thoughts are of great worth to the people and to the council of nobles.
Traveling merchants roam the Dwarven countryside, braving undead and bandits to make riches. Fewer and fewer of these people travel.
There are Guilds and groups of like-minded people, but they are usually secretive and open only by invitation.
More specific details of Rikgruve. Will be added when necessary

Comienzo
A small village at the base of the Smultin mountains. Renowned for its small population and large wealth, it serves as a base of operations for a famous group of Merchants.
It is situated adjacent to the Borrar Lake, and has a substantial influence over it. The people of the town have planted trees everywhere, and much of the city sits in the shade of almost a tiny forest. Comienzo's main exports are works like paintings, scupltures, as well as clothing.
The village elder is getting a bit old, and the town has been a mysterious recently.

The sun blazes down upon the grass. The four of you have each received a letter. A courier has taken the trouble to find each and everyone of you. Each letter was inscribed simply as "Come to Comienzo." And come you did. Each and everyone of you. Upon arrival, a mysterious hooded man approached you. "Hello," he said to you. "Right this way, sir/ma'dam, you're presence has been requested."
You follow the strange man, and go this way and that, walking circles around this quaint little village until you end up in the shade of a great tree. Here you stop, and you see three others. Their face is as puzzled as yours is.
"He shall be arriving soon. And a proposal he will make. Please wait."

OOC:
So I guess we actually didn't know each other before arriving?

Pitch (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=494381), Tiefling Barbarian
Pitch likes the sound of the man calling him "sir". People should treat him with that kind of respect more often, he thinks.

He follows the man to the great tree, trying to avoid stepping too close to any of the dwarves that wander into sight occasionally. He stands nearly twice as tall as most of the dwarves, and many of them stare at him as he passes. Aside from his size, his sinewy tail and the stump where his left arm used to be both must have made him an exotic sight for these villagers.

He arrives at the tree and the man who led him there leaves; Pitch then waits there, leaning against the tree, biting his bright yellow fingernails and spitting them out on the ground, fidgeting until others arrive.

Kayla Cyrium (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=83347), Warforged Fighter

"Thank you very much...er...I am sorry, I did not receive your name. I do not want to be rude calling you something you did not desire." The warforged was not like your typical constructs. Loving care went into Kayla's metal and wooden frame. It was clear that her creator took painstaking care to make her look feminine. They even went to the trouble of sculpting semi-pointed metallic ears and attaching them to her head. One might have thought it was a symbol that she was created by the elves but that was hardly the truth. Kayla would freely correct someone who was mistaken...that is if they could get a word in from her rambling. Still, the dark green hide armor around her frame and the large double sided blade hanging on her back did little to disprove that theory.

Regardless if her guide decided to answer her initial question, she continued to make attempts to strike up conversation. She asked about the village, about the livelihoods of the people and other general knowledge. If she still received nothing but silence to her inquiries she would apologize and tell her guide that she had a habit of wanting to absorb information as quickly as possible. She would even go into an anecdote about sneaking into her father's study when he was asleep.

Kayla wasn't quite sure when she arrived at the large tree. The walk seemed exceedingly short to the warforged. If her guide was annoyed by her chatter, she was pretty much oblivious to it. She waved him off as he went to collect other guests. Her eyes drifted to the tiefling sitting by the tree and happily cried out her greeting, "Hello there!" She did not wait for an invitation to walk over and her metallic lips curved up to form a smile. "Did you get that note too?" She blinked a bit and rubbed her chin as if processing the possibilities, "...wait, that is probably a foolish question...but I suppose you could just be resting here regardless of any note...but would that be as possible a coincidence? Um, my father was always better with calculations like this..." Shaking her head she continued on, "Well, if you are here on request, could you give me a bit of advice? Do you think I should go with a wig or not? I like the idea of having hair and I want to look my best for the person who went through so much trouble seeking me out. Still, I worry if the dwarves might think I am mocking them." If there was one thing no one could accuse Kayla of its being shy.

Pitch (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=494381), Tiefling Barbarian
Pitch is staring at the ground as he kicks the grass, and is startled by a voice next to him. He looks up. Well, I'll be...

Baldy? You're still alive...or...whatever? he asks. I thought you fools would have been long dead by now. He remembers traveling with this contraption before, in the wilderness near another dwarven village, along with a human and a dwarf, before he had parted ways with them. He recalls that they weren't as soft as he looked--both the contraption and the dwarf knew more or less how to handle themselves in a fight, although they didn't have Pitch's talent for raw destruction, and the human knew some strange tricks. But he never could fathom how they had been able to survive in the wilderness without him, and seeing one of them again now came as a surprise.

Wig? he laughs at the contraption's question. Get yourself gussied up for some flea-bitten village dwarf? Why not? I might have some fancy dresses here for you too. If you're lucky you might even catch the eye of some handsome cart or anvil or sculpture or...whatever things like you enjoy.

Grimbar Greybeard (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=486782), Dwarf Cleric|Warlord

Unlike Kayla, Grimbar's arrival was not filled with the sounds of excited conversation. He didn't care to talk to anyone in particular, not even his guide. He just kept mumbling under his breath about interruptions and the mushroom garden he needed to get to back home.

He tried as best he could to ignore Kayla's incessant prattle. To most dwarves, being well spoken meant knowing how to say much by saying very little. The best among them could speak volumes with a shift in posture and a grunt. Kayla's yapping was considered undisciplined and unseemly among his people. Still, at least she could be counted on when help was needed.

When Grimbar saw the tiefling he eyed him coldly. There were those undisciplined in words and those with their deeds. Pitch was the later in the worst sort of way. Grim had tried to be charitable, turning the kid towards honest work in the mines, but even he ran out of patience with the tiefling. When their gazes met, Grimbar responded only with a gruff grunt of disapproval.

Grimbar placed his back against the tree and sighed. He begin to slowly sink down to a seated position at the base of the trunk. As he did so every joint in the old dwarf's body popped loudly.

Pitch (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=494381), Tiefling Barbarian
"Well, what do you know," Pitch proclaims when he sees Grimbar arriving. "First Baldy, and then Old Hairy! What happened to the human--get himself killed, did he?"

Pitch continues to fidget as they wait by the tree; when he gets bored with biting his fingernails, he leans back on his tail and does pushups with it. After some silence, he asks the others, "So what this all about anyway? Did they tell you what they want? I got a letter saying come here, but it didn't say why."

Kayla Cyrium (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=83347), Warforged Fighter

Kayla was fairly good at imitating emotions. It had been a key part of her development...though many would say it was a wasted feature. So when she heard that dreadful nickname again from Pitch, she pursed her metal lips and pouted a bit, "Ooooh, you know how much I do not like that name, Pitch. It is almost as bad as 'wind-up doll' and 'lady clunker'! Still, I am pleased to see you are doing well." Unfortunately for the warforged, her annoyed expression had a somewhat cute appeal to it. Between her expression and her inability to stay truly angry for an extended period of time, this was just a very easy button to push. Half the time, she wanted to come up with a pet name for him too. However, Kayla had procedures for these things. If a nickname was to be made, she refused to do it just to get back at someone.

As for the heckling about her appearance, she did respond to that. The warforged tilted her head, "I just do not want to make a bad first impression....but jesting aside, do you really think I could find more constructs like me? Um...not that I am interested in this in the way you suggested. I mean I have wondered what it would be like to..." As Kayla continued to dig herself into a verbal grave, she eventually covered her mouth in in embarrassment. She couldn't believe that she had just blurted something like that out and given Pitch an ample supply of ammo. She immediately blurted out, "Okay, new subject." If she were actually capable of blushing, one could imagine her face turning beat red right about now.

Her eyes drifted to Grimbar and despite his attempts to block her out, she couldn't help at least offering a greeting. She had noticed the annoyed look on his face but she never really saw an other look on his face when she talked and just classified it as normal, "Grimbar! Its good to see you again. Were you invited to this gathering, too? This reunion is almost perfect." At the mention of the details of the letter, Kayla briefly shrugged her shoulders, "The letter did not state why we were being called here but the thought that someone went to all that trouble just to ask us here...well, would it not be rude to ignore it?"

Pitch (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=494381), Tiefling Barbarian
Pitch listens to the warforged's rambling with a bemused look on his face, picking between his teeth with the pointy end of his tail. When she finishes and covers her mouth, he responds, "You are a strange creature."

OOC: This is the first time Pitch has called Kayla a "creature" or anything like it, in the past he called her nicknames like Baldy or referred to her as a "contraption".

"The letter did not state why we were being called here but the thought that someone went to all that trouble just to ask us here...well, would it not be rude to ignore it?"
"Ignore it?" Pitch scoffs. "And miss the chance to see these dwarves beg? It wouldn't be just rude; it would be a damned waste, that's what."

Pitch opens his mouth to deliver a snarky retort to Grimbar. Then he pauses, remembering how the old dwarf used to smack him around if he caused trouble back when he was working in the mines. Now that they were out and free to do as they wished, he was sure he could kill the old dwarf if they really came to blows...but, he recalls, the dwarf and the others had proven useful to have around in the brief days when they were traveling together.

The tiefling holds his tongue and gives Grimbar a wide, sidelong grin, flashing his rows of yellow teeth.

Kayla Cyrium (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=83347), Warforged Fighter

Kayla briefly glanced around the area as she pondered aloud, "I really hope Nilus show up as well...I mean if all of us were asked, he could have been too. Maybe this time he'll share more about himself." Kayla was always curious about his past even if anyone could tell he likely wouldn't share it anytime within his life.

The warforged seemed to be the most vocal member of their group and asked questions of practically everyone and everything. There were only a few moments during their travels together that she was completely silent. Despite her diarrhea of the mouth, she knew how to keep quiet in a dangerous situation and if she needed to talk, it was in hushed tones. Unimportant subjects like wigs never even crossed her mind. Furthermore, there were 'rest cycles' as she called them that lasted 4 hours long...but since she usually timed them with everyone else's sleep schedule it was rare for the group to take advantage of that. Books also seemed to silence her. She told the group that her father would often hand her numerous books to read when he was in the middle of tutoring students. Kayla wished that she could have brought them with her but she admitted that the weight would slow even her down. From the way she described it, it sounded like her father owned a library. Finally, the last way that all her party members knew to keep her quiet was to teach her something new. It didn't matter if she was good or terrible at it, she would at least ponder how to do it and try it.

Kayla eventually gave up her search and dug into her travel pack. She smiled as best she could and announced pleasantly, "Oh, I almost forgot. I picked up something wonderful since we last met." She pulled out an old book and opened it outward so Pitch and Grimbar could see it. The page she turned to had a rather detailed picture of a human man with notes depicting various body parts. It was a simple book on anatomy, "With this, I will be able to mend wounds better. I have already read it twice now and I think I have a good grasps of things. If ever either of you are injured, let me know so I can practice what I have learned." Clearly she was trying to be helpful...even if she was blissfully unaware just how awkward it would be for someone to put their lives in the hands a construct that only read up on medical care.

Just having some personal fun explaining why Kayla has Heal as a trained skill. She's not good at it but from the looks of things, she's the only one trained in the party. I view her skill as successfully completing a crash course. She's good in a pinch but there are better healers out there.

Pitch cranes his neck to look at Kayla's book, a look of skepticism on his face. To her offer of healing he says, "I shudder at the thought of cold metal hands all over me. Give me a nice, soft, curvy lady to work me over, I'll take that any day. Just not," he shoots a glance at Grimbar, "not one of those stubbly dwarf ones.".

"just how awkward it would be for someone to put their lives in the hands a construct that only read up on medical care"... love it! That made me think of this (http://pbfcomics.com/197/).
