The game looks like a Diablo2 clone. And essentially it is. Since D3 was such a disappointment, I look forward to something D2. There are some neat little factors that drew me in and got me excited.
They have incorporated a few factors from two Final Fantasy games:
From FF7: They are using the materia socket system for all weapons and armor slots. Barbarian Urist has a great sword. So socket in a fireball gem and now he can cast fireball. Skills are not assigned by class, but by skills. Now put in a life leech utility gem in the linked slot, now his fireballs heal him.
From FF10: They are using the sphere grid type of tree..hell, sphere web. On the website is a generator under Game -> Passive Tree. Any player can use any skill (via gems), and the passive tree modifies what stats your character has.
I will be playing tomorrow evening, name will be MonarchAnarch..hopefully.
