Do you think it would look like this, and if it did, would you pick a melee class for it or a caster class?

Well, what anything looks lite post-Rite of Rebirth is really upto you and your DM.

And come on - I'd play it as a DFA. Breath weapon/effects FTW.

Why would you play something that already has a breath weapon, on top of a class that gives you a breath weapon?

strike that...you have choice of wings and vision also

You might consider taking the Dragonborn's breath weapon because it provides you with a cooldown based breath weapon, which arguably, could qualify you for metabreath feats, (which if interpreted as being applicable to the DFA's class breath weapon too, makes it an amazing choice) plus, it's quite a bit stronger, with better reach than the DFA breath, especially at early levels.

Mix in some Psychic Warrior and you've got size increases. 6 levels will get you Huge size.

I smell a campaign full of megazord references. I mean, Green Power Ranger anyone?

In any case, I'd go with the breath weapon dragonborn option, and staple it onto some kind of hybrid casting class. Spellthief sounds cool, spellthief with breath weapon sounds cooler. Duskblade might also make a nice option.

Not clear on this, but can you monkey in some of the alternate warforged stuff for a late-levels dragonborn. Psiforged and such have much in the flavor department, it would be cool to have some kind of warforged variant class that could retain abilities with dragonborness.

Go for Wings Aspect, and take DFA. You can now Fly, and breath fire.
